Cooch Behar becomes Bengal’s 5th ODF district
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today declared Cooch Behar as an Open Defecation Free (ODF) district. Cooch Behar is the first district in North Bengal to be declared an ODF district.
This is Bengal’s fifth district to get the ODF tag. The four other districts are Nadia which is the country’s first ODF district, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly and East Midnapore. Two more districts, South 24 Parganas and Burdwan will be announced as ODF districts soon.
The state government has decided to construct toilets in all rural homes in the state by March 2019. The Chief Minister’s announcement on Tuesday will come a few days before the Nirmal Bangla Divas which will be celebrated throughout the state on April 30.
উত্তরবঙ্গের প্রথম নির্মল জেলা হল কুচবিহার
আজ কুচবিহারকে নির্মল জেলা ঘোষণা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। উত্তরবঙ্গের প্রথম নির্মল জেলা ঘোষিত হল কুচবিহার।
নির্মল জেলার সারিতে কুচবিহার পঞ্চম জেলার স্থান পেল। বাকি ৪ টি জেলা হল নদিয়া, উত্তর ২৪ পরগণা, হুগলী ও পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর। খুব শীঘ্রই দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগণা ও বর্ধমান নির্মল জেলা ঘোষিত হবে।
২০১৯ সালের মার্চ মাসের মধ্যে সব প্রত্যন্ত এলাকায় শৌচাগার তৈরীর কাজ শেষ করার পরিকল্পনা নিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। ৩০ এপ্রিল সারা রাজ্য জুড়ে নির্মল বাংলা দিবস পালন করা হবে।
