Beginning of a new innings in Darjeeling, thanks to the initiatives of WB CM

Thanks to the initiatives taken by the Chief Minister and the State administration, peace has finally been restored in Darjeeling. Apart from the development initiatives by the State Government in the Hills, the people will also be involved in the cultural activities of the rest of Bengal. Towards that end, the CM has decided to hold celebrations of the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Darjeeling on 23 January, 2014. The Chief Minister will be present at Darjeeling on the occasion.
On 26 December, 2013 Bimal Gurung took oath of office as the new GTA Chief, in the presence of the Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that this event marked the beginning of a new innings in Darjeeling. She congratulated the new GTA Head and said that, `West Bengal is on its path of development and Darjeeling is on its path of peace. We well walk together. We will do much more work. Our aim is to walk on the roads of more development`.
The Chief Minister during her upcoming visit to North Bengal will inaugurate the North Bengal Secretariat on January 20, 2014.
She will inaugurate the renovated `Roy Villa`, the house where Sister Nivedita spent her last days, on January 22.
On 23rd January, the programme organized by the State Government will celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Darjeeling. Artists from all over the state will assemble in the cultural milieau.
