Alipurduar’s brinjal pickle to be exported to Bhutan
A self-help group of Falakata block in Alipurduar district is soon going to exporting brinjal pickle to Bhutan. The pickle is very popular in the district.
The group, Maha Maya is made up of 20 housewives from Raichanga village. It started producing the innovative brinjal pickle two years ago.
Alipurduar District Regulated Market Committee, an apex body of the Bengal Government in the district that controls marketing, is facilitating the export.
Maha Maya sells the pickle through the State Government-owned Sufal Bangla stalls in Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri districts. The wholesale price of the pickle varies from Rs 100 to 200 per kilogram. It is bottled in 250 gram to 1 kilogram containers.
The pickle is made using a species of small brinjal called ‘solte begun’ in Bengali. It is more suitable than bigger brinjals because it has a harder flesh.
Self-help groups, run by and composed entirely of women, promoted actively by the Trinamool Congress Government, have brought a sea-change to the lives of rural women. This is a brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to bring empowerment for rural women. SHGs have enabled lakhs of homemakers across Bengal to become self-sufficient.
আলিপুরদুয়ারের বেগুনের আচার পারি দেবে ভুটানে
আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলার ফালাকাটা ব্লকের একটি স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীর তৈরী বেগুনের আচার এবার পারি দেবে প্রতিবেশী রাষ্ট্র ভুটানে। এই আচার স্থানীয় অঞ্চলে খুবই জনপ্রিয়।
এই স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীর নাম মহামায়া। এই গোষ্ঠীতে আছেন রাইচাঙ্গা গ্রামের ২০ জন গৃহ বধু। দু বছর আগে এই গোষ্ঠী ওই আচার তৈরী করা শুরু করে। রাজ্যের এক শীর্ষ সংস্থা, আলিপুরদুয়ার ডিসট্রিক্ট রেগুলেটেড মার্কেট কমিটি এই রপ্তানির তত্বাবধান করবে।
আলিপুরদুয়ার, কোচবিহার ও জলপাইগুড়ি জেলাতে রাজ্য সরকারের সুফল বাংলা কেন্দ্র থেকে এই আচার বিক্রি করে মহামায়া গোষ্ঠী। এই আচারের পাইকারি মূল্য কিলো প্রতি ১০০ টাকা থেকে ২০০ টাকার মধ্যে। এই আচার ২৫০ গ্রাম থেকে ১ কিলো বিভিন্ন ওজনের প্যাকে পাওয়া যায়।
এই আচার তৈরী হয় সলতে বেগুন নামে এক প্রজাতির ছোট বেগুন থেকে। এই বেগুনের শাঁস বড় বেগুনের থেকে বেশী শক্ত হওয়ায়, আচার তৈরীতে বেশী উপযোগী।
তৃণমূল সরকারের আমলে, এবং মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায়, মহিলাদের দ্বারা পরিচালিত স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলি গ্রামীণ মহিলাদের জীবনে এনেছে আমুল পরিবর্তন, লক্ষ লক্ষ গৃহবধূ হয়েছেন অর্থনৈতিক ভাবে স্বনির্ভর।
