27 more municipalities in Bengal to open Roudra Brishti outlets
In February 2014, the Bengal Government’s West Bengal Essential Commodities Supply Corporation (WBECSC) had started a chain of fair price outlets to promote exclusive products of the state in the agriculture and food sector, called ‘Roudra Brishti’. The first store was opened on Mirza Ghalib Street (Free School Street) in Kolkata.
Plans to open outlets in every district, sub-division and municipal headquarters are gradually coming to fruition. Now, in the latest phase of expansion, 27 municipalities have got a Roudra Brishti outlet each.
The stores have been a big hit among the people – essential commodities like rice, pulses, spices, edible oil, incense sticks, etc. are available at affordable prices. Popular varieties of rice, both normal and aromatic, like Tulaipanji, Chamarmoni, brown rice, Dudheswar, Gobindobhog, Minikit and others are also available.

২০১৪ সালের ফেব্রুয়ারি মাসে রাজ্য সরকারের ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল এসেন্সিয়াল কমোডিটি সাপ্লাই কর্পোরেশন এক বিপণি চেন শুরু করে। এই বিপণিগুলিতে রয়েছে খুব ভালো চাল, মশলার সম্ভার। এগুলির নাম “রৌদ্র বৃষ্টি”। প্রথম “রৌদ্র বৃষ্টি” বিপণি কেন্দ্রটি খোলা হয় মির্জা গালিব স্ট্রীটে।
প্রতি জেলায়, মহকুমায় ও পুরসভার হেড অফিসে এই বিপণি খোলার পরিকল্পনা ধিরে ধিরে বাস্তবায়িত হচ্ছে। ২৭টি পুরসভায় খুলেছে রৌদ্র বৃষ্টি বিপণি কেন্দ্র।
নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিষ যেমন চাল, ডাল, মশলা, তেল, ধূপ সবই ন্যায্যমুল্যে পাওয়া যায় এখানে। এই সব দ্রব্য সংগ্রহ করতে ৪২টি সংস্থার সঙ্গে চুক্তিবদ্ধ হয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। ৯টি সংস্থা দেবে তেল, ১৪টি সংস্থা সরবরাহ করবে ডাল। বিভিন্ন ধরনের চাল, সুগন্ধী চাল যেমন তুলাপাঁজি, চামরমণি, বাদামী চাল, দুধেস্বর, গোবিন্দভোগ, মিনিকিট পাওয়া যায় এখানে।
এখানে অনেক নামী সংস্থার দ্রব্য কম দামে পাওয়া যায়, কৃষকরাও পান ন্যায্যমুল্য। যে কোনোও রকম দ্রব্য বাজারের তুলনায় ১৫ থেকে ২০ শতাংশ কম দামে পাওয়া যায় এখানে।
