Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated the new metro railway coaches at the Titagarh Wagons Limited factory in Uttarpara. This is also Bengal’s first factory for manufacturing metro coaches.

Highlights of the chief minister’s speech:

• While the unemployment rate in the country has increased to 40 per cent, that in Bengal has reduced.

• We have set up 52 colleges.

• The Andal.Airport will become an international airport.

• We have done a lot of work on implementing social welfare schemes.

• Bengal’s tax collection has increased by four times.

• 529 MSME clusters have been set up.

• Investment worth Rs 15 lakh crore has taken place.

• It won’t be so easy to break up Bengal.

• Why were those steps taken on July 22, which was immediately after our grand July 21 annaul celebrations? [referring to the ED raids on Partha Chatterjee]

• There have been income tax raids on the houses of many industrialists.

• They are using government agencies to destroy the reputations of other political parties.

• Hindustan Motors was given a large amount of land by the Left Front government. As a result, 700 acres are lying vacant.

• The state government will take that over using proper legal ways.

• The state government is investing Rs 72,000 crore in Raghunathpur in Purulia district.

• As soon as coal extraction from Deocha-Pachami stabilises, the state’s citizens will start getting electricity at cheaper prices.

• Rs 15,000 crore is being invested in the building of Tajpur Port.

• The BJP will not return to power in 2024.
