Bengal Govt to empower Kanyashree girls by providing them job-oriented training
Bengal Government’s path-breaking ‘Kanyashree’ scheme has already won huge international acclaim. In the days ahead, the Government is planning to move to the next level by providing technical and vocational training to empower the girls registered under this scheme.
The Kanyashree project started in 2013-14 was divided into two sectors, K1 and K2. While K1 was aimed for girls studying in class VIII to class XII while K2 was aimed for those doing their graduations. More than 36 lakh girls had applied for re-registration under the K1 scheme, while around 2.5 lakh students applied for re-registration for the K2 scheme in 2016-17.
The project has been hugely successful in reducing the number child marriages and early marriages of adolescent girls. Plans are being made to provide training besides the scholarships so that they can stand on their own feet in future.
কন্যাশ্রীর কিশোরীদের এবার প্রশিক্ষণ দিতে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য
বাল্যবিবাহ রোধে প্রয়োজন আরও বেশি করে প্রশিক্ষণ। প্রশিক্ষণই যুবতী বা কিশোরীদের স্বনির্ভর করে তুলতে সাহায্য করবে। তাই এই প্রথম কারিগরিসহ অন্যান্য প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা নিচ্ছে নারী ও শিশুকল্যাণ এবং সমাজকল্যাণ দপ্তর। কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্পের আওতায় থাকা নারীদের ১৬ বছর বয়স পেরনোর পরই এই প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়ার ভাবনাচিন্তা শুরু করছে দপ্তর।
২০১৩-১৪ সালে কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্প চালু হয়েছিল, যা ইতিমধ্যেই শুধু কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের তরফেই নয়, বিদেশ থেকেও সমাদৃত হয়েছে। এই প্রকল্পের অন্তর্গত পড়ুয়াদের কে-১ এবং কে-২ দু’টি ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়েছে। কে-১ হচ্ছে যারা অষ্টম শ্রেণি থেকে দ্বাদশ শ্রেণিতে পড়ছে এবং বার্ষিক ৭৫০ টাকা পাচ্ছে। কে-২ ভাগে আছে ১৮ বছরের উর্দ্ধের মেয়েরা যারা স্নাতক স্তরে পড়ছে।
২০১৪-১৫ সাল থেকে ২০১৬-১৭’র এখনও পর্যন্ত কে-১ বিভাগে স্কলারশিপের পুনর্নবীকরণের জন্য মোট ৩৬ লক্ষ ৩০ হাজার ৮৬১ জন আবেদন করেছে। অপরদিকে, কে-২ বিভাগে নতুন আবেদনকারী (ফ্রেশ) হিসাবে ২০১৩-১৪ সাল থেকে ২০১৬-১৭’র এখনও পর্যন্ত ফরম তুলেছে ২ লক্ষ ২৮ হাজার ৩৩০ জন যুবতী।
