West Bengal Trinamool Youth Congress President Mr Abhishek Banerjee addressed a rally in Behala on Sunday. Party Seceretary General Mr Partha Chatterjee and senior leaders Mr Suvendu Adhikari, part District president and Kolkata Mayor Mr Shovan Chatterjee and Mr Shankudeb Panda were also present at the meeting.
“Wherever the BJP holds a rally in Bengal, Trinamool's youth wing will reach there within 48 hours. We won't allow the BJP to grow here, come what may,” Mr Banerjee said.
“We will form booth-level committees everywhere across Bengal. At least 50 youth activists will take charge of each booth to build mass contact with five families in their area,” he added.
Mr Banerjee said that the BJP was desperate to make in-roads in Bengal and they are trying to destabilise the state government by instigating communal riots. He asked the Trinamool Youth Congress to get united against the BJP “who is trying to instigate riots as it had done in Gujarat and UP.”
Mr Banerjee insisted that the Trinamool Youth Congress members should be more active and should immediately form booth committees. The booth committee members should be very serious about their approach and start visiting houses and meet the people regularly and talk about their problems. They would try to solve their problems and if the matter is serious that would refer it to the state committee.
He said that the Prime Minister should stop talking big and find out how some of his ministers had amassed wealth during their career so far. Mr Banerjee also warned the Trinamool Youth Congress activists and said there is hardly any time to lose and should get prepared for KMC polls. He said in 2010, the Trinamool Congress got 18 out of 18 seats and in 2015, the Trinamool Congress should get 21 out of 21 seats in Behala.
“But given the traditions and the culture of the state, their efforts will not succeed,” Mr Banerjee said. “We have decided to counter the BJP's propaganda,” he added.
“The party has to be confronted tooth and nail because of its communal agenda,” Mr Partha Chatterjee said, at the rally.
Mr Suvendu Adhikari said that whenever the BJP leaders will be addressing rallies in West Bengal, they should be questioned why the projects undertaken by Ms Mamata Banerjee as the Union Rail Minister have been stalled by the current BJP government at Centre.
