Chalo Jai Sabujer Sandhane, CM urges youth of the city

Kolkata, July 15: Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the ‘Aranya Shaptaha’ (forest week) on Thursday at Rabindra Sarovar.
Inaugurating the seven-day-long-event, Ms. Banerjee reiterated the need to plant more trees to make the city greener and environment friendly. She requested the students present at the inaugural function to plant a sapling each in their schools and neighborhood.
“Green is for hope, life and for breathing fresh, it means creation, regeneration and something more…a belief”, said Ms. Banerjee. On this occasion a new slogan “Cholo jai Sabujer Sondhane” (Let’s go in search for the green) was coined.
“Plants and children have a lot in common, both are fresh and a bonding will develop as they plant trees”, Ms. Banerjee said. She stressed the need to create awareness among the people of the city to initiate the noble cause. Four crore sapling would be planted across the city and out of which one crore sapling will be planted by students studying in various schools and NGOs.
