Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday accused the Narendra Modi government of “discriminating” against the state by depriving tea garden workers of their wages, while providing the same to workers in BJP-ruled Assam.

“It is shocking that the Central government is ruthlessly discriminating against Bengal and its toiling tea garden workers by starving them of cash wages, while giving cash from RBI to workers in BJP-ruled state of Assam,” she said in a series of tweets.

“While both states started a similar payment model, suddenly Bengal’s payments were cut off at the end of November. Our workers are starving. I demand that RBI restores payment by our government through our DMs immediately and continue it till March next year,” she added.

বুধবার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় চা শিল্পের চরম সংকট নিয়ে উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করলেন। কেন্দ্র বকেয়া টাকা না পাঠালে আগামীদিনে চরম সংকটে তৈরি হবে চা শিল্পে।

টুইটে তিনি কেন্দ্রের বিরুদ্ধে ক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করে বলেন, “কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার নিষ্ঠুর, আমি অবাক হয়ে যাচ্ছি পরিস্থিতি দেখে। বাংলার চা বাগান ও তাদের শ্রমিকদের সাথে বিমাতৃসুলভ আচরণ করছে কেন্দ্র। শ্রমিকরা মজুরি পাচ্ছে না, তারা অনাহারে রয়েছে”।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “অন্যান্য রাজ্যে সময়মত টাকা পৌঁছে যাচ্ছে তার বেলায় কোন অনিয়ম নেই অথচ বাংলার বকেয়া টাকা দেওয়া বন্ধ রেখেছে কেন্দ্র। বাংলা ও আসাম দুই রাজ্যই বেতন দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে একই নিয়ম মানছে তখন হঠাৎ শুধু বাংলাকে বঞ্চনা কেন? আমি দাবি করছি আগামী মার্চ মাস পর্যন্ত রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্ক বকেয়া টাকা অবিলম্বে জেলাশাসকদের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিক”।

Intensifying the protest against demonetisation, the Trinamool Trade Union leaders on Thursday staged a dharna in front of the Tea Board in Kolkata.

Addressing the demonstration programme of Trinamul Congress’s trade wing INTTUC involving the tea garden workers right in front of Tea Board, Sovandeb Chatterjee said, “Workers in tea gardens are on the brink of starvation due to the present cash crunch. The tea garden owners are unable to pay wages to them. This Tea Board is non-functional.”

INTTUC on Thursday submitted a deputation before the chairman of the Tea Board, seeking its intervention to alleviate the poor condition of the tea garden workers in the state.

Rajya Sabha MP and INTTUC leader Dola Sen alleged discrimination by the Central Government in regard to the tea gardens in Assam and Bengal. “There are no ATM’s in tea gardens. The workers have to travel  a distance of 10 km for drawing cash and in most cases they are finding that the machines are unable to dispense cash. The tea garden workers will have no other option but to commit suicide if this situation continues,” Ms Sen said.

 

নোট বাতিল ইস্যুতে চা শ্রমিকদের পাওনার দাবিতে টি বোর্ড অফিসের বাইরে ধর্ণা তৃণমূলের

নোটবাতিলের বিরুদ্ধে আন্দোলন আরও তীব্রতর করতে তৃণমূলের শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন বৃহস্পতিবার কলকাতার টি বোর্ডের অফিসের সামনে ধর্ণা দেয়।

টি বোর্ডের  ঠিক সামনে চা বাগানের কর্মীদের নিয়ে তৃণমূলের শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন আইএনটিটিইউসির ধর্ণার মঞ্চে বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে শোভনদেব চট্টোপাধ্যায় বলেন, “চা বাগানের মালিকরা টাকার অভাবে শ্রমিকদের তাদের পারিশ্রমিক দিতে পারছে না, তাই, শ্রমিকদের অনাহারে দিন কাটাতে হচ্ছে। এই টি বোর্ড কি কাজ করছে?”

আইএনটিটিইউসির পক্ষ থেকে এদিন টি বোর্ডের চেয়ারম্যানকে ডেপুটেশন জমা দেওয়া হয়। ওই ডেপুটেশনে চা বাগানের কর্মীদের চরম দুর্ভোগ উপশম করার জন্য টি বোর্ডের সাহায্য চাওয়া হয়েছে।

রাজ্যসভার সাংসদ ও আইএনটিটিইউসির নেত্রী দোলা সেন অভিযোগ করেন বাংলা ও অসমের চা বাগানের কর্মীদের মধ্যে বৈষম্যমূলক আচরণ করেছেন কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার। তিনি বলেন, “চা বাগানের কোথাও কোনো এটিএম নেই, শ্রমিকদের অন্তত ১০ কিঃ মিঃ আস্তে হয় নিকটস্থ এটিএমটির জন্য, কিন্তু, সিংহভাগ ক্ষেত্রেই মেশিনগুলিতে কোনো টাকাই থাকছে না। এই অচলাবস্থা আর কিছুদিন চললে চা বাগানের শ্রমিকদের জন্য আত্মহত্যা ছাড়া আর কোনো পথ খোলা থাকবে না।”
