Kolkata will become India’s first fully Wi-Fi enabled metro city in the next two or three months. West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee made the landmark announcement at the inauguration ceremony of the 39th Kolkata International Book Fair.

As soon as WB CM made this announcement in Twitter, tweets started pouring in hailing this landmark decision. The tweets ranged from praise to messages thanking the Chief Minister. Most users were excited that Kolkata would become the first fully Wi-Fi enabled metro city in India.

Ms Mamata Banerjee on Friday thanked her Facebook friends as the number of ‘likes’ on her official page crossed the one million mark.

“Thank you so much my Facebook friends! On last Sunday, my Facebook Page likes have crossed one million mark in number,” she wrote in her Facebook page.

As a token of her appreciation she shared musicals by some of the greats in this field. “To convey my thanks in a special way, I have some musicals played by Bickram Ghosh, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumder, Usha Uthup, Pulak Sarkar, Gopal Barman, Joyti Goho and Allarakha, to share with you”, she added.

Mamata Banerjee, who is very social media savvy, recently joined Twitter where she gained over 8000 followers in just a week.

Trinamool Congress Chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee joined twitter on January 1, 2015 which is also the Foundation Day of All India Trinamool Congress.

Within twenty four hours of joining this widely popular social networking site, she notched up more than six thousand followers.

The Trinamool Chairperson already has one million (Ten lakh) likes on Facebook.
