88 Krishak Bazars in Bengal to be fully operational before August 2015

Eighty eight Krishak Bazars (Farmer’s Markets) across the State will be fully operational before August 2015. State Agricultural Marketing Minister Arup Roy said that these bazars have already started the process of buying paddy from the farmers. After the distribution of stalls at these markets, fertilizers, seeds and agricultural machinery will also be available.

In the district of Hooghly, 10 such Bazars have been set up in places like Singur, Dhaniakhali, Purshura, Jangipara and Balagarh. It has been decided that four to five stalls in each Bazar will be kept for the Agriculture department to distribute fertilizers, seeds and other agricultural products.

Each of the 88 Krishak Bazars will have a cold storage. The Government is also providing an encouragement allowance of Rs 15 to the paddy farmers in excess of the price of paddy.

The Government is also focusing upon schemes such as Amar Fasal Amar Gari, Amar Fasal Amar Gola and Amar Fasal Amar Chatal to be implemented in an all round basis.
