Bengal Government is organising state-wide programmes to observe ‘Sanskriti Dibas’ on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The State Youth Services and Sports Department is hosting the programme following the directions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. In 1905, Rabindranath Tagore had observed Raksha Bandhan as a mark of unity between Hindus and Muslims when the British decided to divide Bengal.

‘Sanskriti Dibas’ is being observed in 341 Blocks, 117 municipalities, six Municipal Corporations and in all the 144 wards of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).

It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has time and again spread the message of unity and harmony at various public meetings; she has urged people to uphold the spirit of Bengal which stands for peace, progress and prosperity.

 

রাজ্য জুড়ে রাখী বন্ধন উৎসবকে ‘সংস্কৃতি দিবস’ হিসেবে উদযাপন করছে বাংলা

গত ২১ জুলাই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ধর্মতলার শহীদমঞ্চে রাখী পূর্ণিমার দিনটিকে সংস্কৃতি দিবস হিসাবে পালনের সিদ্ধান্ত ঘোষণা করেন। সেই মত রাজ্যের সর্বত্র একযোগে আজ এই উৎসব পালিত হবে।

রাজ্য যুব ও ক্রীড়া দপ্তর মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নির্দেশ মত এই অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করছে। ১৯০৫ সালে বঙ্গভঙ্গের সিদ্ধান্ত নেন ব্রিটিশরা। সেই সিদ্ধান্তের প্রতিবাদে হিন্দু মুসলিম সম্প্রীতি রক্ষার্থে রাখী বন্ধন অনুষ্ঠান পালন করেন কবিগুরু।

৩৪১টি ব্লকে, ১১৭টি মিউনিসিপালিটিতে ও ৬টি কর্পোরেশন ও কলকাতার ১৪৪টি ওয়ার্ডে পালিত হবে সংস্কৃতি দিবস। রাখীবন্ধনের পাশাপাশি সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান, রক্তদানের মতো সামাজিক কর্মসূচিও নেওয়া হচ্ছে।

প্রসঙ্গত, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী তাঁর প্রতি জনসভায় সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতির বার্তা দেন, তিনি জনগণকে বাংলার চিরাচতির সম্প্রীতির বাতাবরণ অক্ষুণ্ণ রাখতে ও বাংলাকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার আর্জি জানান।

West Bengal Government has decided to celebrate Raksha Bandhan festival as ‘Sanskriti Divas’.

On the initiative of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the State Youth Affairs Department will organise programmes in every block of the state.

Incidentally, the history behind this festival dates back to the year 1905 when the British Empire decided to divide Bengal province. During that time Rabindranath Tagore arranged a ceremony to celebrate Raksha Bandhan to strengthen the bond of love and togetherness between the Hindus and the Muslims of Bengal and fight against the British Empire unitedly.

West Bengal Government under Mamata Banerjee values the culture of unity and brotherhood in Bengal and always works towards maintaining the spirit of fraternity and solidarity amongst communities.

বাংলা জুড়ে সংস্কৃতি দিবস হিসেবে পালিত হবে রাখি উৎসব

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার রাখি উৎসব ‘সংস্কৃতি উৎসব’ হিসেবে পালন করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগে, রাজ্য যুবকল্যাণ বিভাগ রাজ্যের প্রতিটি ব্লকে একটি করে অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করেছে।

উল্লেখ্য, রাখি উৎসবকে ১৯০৫ সালের বঙ্গভঙ্গ বিরোধী আন্দোলনের অন্যতম প্রধান হাতিয়ার হিসেবে ব্যাবহার করা হয়। সেই সময়ে ব্রিটিশ সাম্রাজ্যের বিরুদ্ধে হিন্দু ও বাংলার মুসলমানদের মধ্যে একতা প্রতিষ্ঠা করার জন্য এই রাখি বন্ধন উৎসবের আয়োজন করেছিলেন রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর।

মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অধীনে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার একতা এবং বাংলায় ভ্রাতৃত্বের সংস্কৃতিকে মর্যাদা দিয়েছে এবং সবসময় সংহতি বজায় রাখার চেষ্টা করছে।

Two days after Raksha Bandhan, Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC) on Monday decided to set up a Rakhi Hub in Howrah to help 20,000-odd artisans who make Rakhis for a living.

Rakhi making is a cottage industry in Howrah that generates an annual turnover of around Rs 30 crore. But the industry works in a very scattered and unorganized manner with middle man from Burrabazar exploiting the artisans. So, it was decided to set up a Rakhi Hub and space will be allocated space where the weekly Monglahat is held.

At the Hub, the artisans will no longer have to depend on middlemen. Along with them, suppliers of raw material will also be given space at the Hub. So, the artisans can buy directly from them.

The Trade Development Zone also plans to introduce training facilities at the Hub where artisans can hone their skills. This will increase production and help artisans compete with Rakhi manufacturers in other states. Representatives will go door to door and identify the Rakhi artisans.

At the initiative of West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee, the State Government has decided to celebrate Raksha Bandhan as Sanskriti Divas.

The idea behind this occasion is Rabindranath Tagore’s initiative to promote communal harmony by tying rakhis to Hindus and Muslims as a mark of protest against Partition of Bengal in 1905.

Sanskriti Divas will be observed by the state youth services department at all 341 blocks, 117 municipalities, 5 corporations, 144 wards of KMC, 20 district sadar towns and GTA areas.

The state-level function on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan will be held at Y Road near Metro Channel in Kolkata at 3 PM.

From the state youth services department, rakhis have been sent to each municipal and panchayat office across the state. MLAs and MPs have been asked to attend Raksha Bandhan events in their constituencies.

Apart from the government, Trinamool leaders and workers in every block and sub-division have started reaching out to people with rakhis since morning.
