WB CM invites Delhi, Bihar CMs for Bengal Global Business Summit 2016

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee has requested her Bihar counterpart to be present at the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit beginning January 7. She has also invited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Along with the two CMs, the Prime Minister of Bhutan and delegates from US, China and Japan are likely to attend the summit, which has been conceived to rejuvenate the industrial scenario in West Bengal.

Bengal Global Business Summit 2016, to be held at the Milan Mela Grounds, will cast the spotlight on the state’s capability and readiness to take on bigger and greater business challenges.

The vision for the 2016 summit is to establish an image that embodies the essence of a new, business ready Bengal.

Mamata’s Bihar visit a protest against authoritarian attitude of Centre: Trinamool

Stating that the party would fight to “strengthen the federal structure” in the country, TMC on Thursday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s attendance at the oath-taking ceremony of Nitish Kumar on Friday would be as a mark of “protest against authoritarian attitude of the Centre”.

“Our chief minister is going there (Bihar) to fight against intolerance and mark her protest against the authoritarian attitude of the Centre.

“Trinamool Congress will fight in favour of strengthening the federal structure and secular fabric of our country,” said party leader and state urban development minister Firhad Hakim.

Mamata Banerjee on Thursday left for Patna to take take part in Kumar’s swearing-in on Friday. She had congratulated Nitish Kumar over Twitter and termed the victory of the grand alliance as the defeat of “intolerance”.

Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) leader and the Bihar Chief Minister designate, and Mamata Banerjee had spoken over the phone after the Bihar Assembly elections results were announced with the former thanking the TMC chief for supporting the grand alliance in Bihar in its fight against BJP.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said the BJP combine’s defeat in the Bihar assembly elections was a “defeat of intolerance”.

“Congratulations Nitish Kumarji, Laluji and your full team, and all my Bihar brothers and sisters,” the Trinamool Congress tweeted. This, she said, was a “victory of tolerance, defeat of intolerance”.

On October 25, Mamata Banerjee had made an appeal to the people of Bihar to re-elect Mr Nitish Kumar as the CM.

“Request you all in Bihar to please vote to re-elect Nitish Kumar ji as CM for greater need of our country & development in State,” she had tweeted.

On behalf of the party, National Spokesperson and Leader of the party in Rajya Sabha, Derek O’Brien said: “BJP loses. India saved.”
