On the fourth day of her poll campaign in north Bengal, Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee addressed two rallies today – in Birpara (in Alipurduar district) and in Mainaguri (Jalpaiguri district).

The firebrand leader embarked on her campaign in north Bengal with a rally at Phansidewa on March 14 followed by a padyatra from Matigara to Siliguri to mark Nandigram Divas. She also addressed public meetings in Kurseong on March 15 and in Kalchini-Nagrakata on March 16. She also attended a padyatra in Malbazar yesterday.

Slamming the “unholy nexus” between the CPI(M) and the Congress in her speeches, Mamata Banerjee has said she has the support of the people.

She also challenged the Opposition to fight her politically and compete on the plank of development. She came down heavily on the smear campaign started by the Opposition and a section of the media to tarnish the image of Trinamool.

Salient points of Mamata Banerjee’s speech at the Birpara rally: 

On north Bengal

I have come to Birpara often in the past. I love this place. I love coming to north Bengal in general. We have showered our love on the people of the Hills. In the past no government worked for the Hills so much.

We will never allow Bengal to be divided. We will maintain peace and harmony.

On development

We created the district of Alipurduar for better development. We fulfilled your long-standing demand. From ITIs, polytechnic colleges to fair price medicine shops and Kisan Mandis, we are working for all-round development.

Eight crore out of the nine crore people in Bengal are getting rice at Rs 2/kg. We have started insurance schemes for the press, and for the ASHA and ICDS workers. We have given second language status to Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Gurmukhi and Ol Chiki.

We have distributed three lakh land pattas in the last four years. We have distributed Kisan Credit Cards and houses under the Gitanjali Scheme. We have electrified rural households. We took over Dunlop and Jessop because we care for the welfare of workers. We will not allow innocent workers and labourers to suffer because of the Central government.

The Centre stopped funds for the ICDS scheme. We are now funding the scheme.

On the Opposition

Those who took the State back by decades are spreading hate, falsehoods and negativity now.

On education

We have set up a Hindi College in Banarhat. We are setting up model schools in the district. 33 lakh girls are receiving Kanyashree scholarships. They are now pursuing higher education. We have also started Shikshashree scholarships for SC/ST students; 22 lakh have already benefitted. Under the Sabuj Sathi Scheme, 25 lakh cycles have been distributed and another 15 lakh students will receive them by July. Minority scholarships have been given to 1.05 crore students. This is the highest number for such scholarships in the country.

The Centre has stopped funding Sarva Siksha Abhiyan but we are continuing to fund the scheme.

The new generation of youth in Bengal will take the State forward. Bengal is turning around.

On tea workers

We are working for the welfare of tea garden workers. We are providing water, electricity and rice at 47 paisa/kg to tea garden workers.

On Trinamool

Trinamool works for the common people. We are here to serve the poor irrespective of caste, creed, colour or political allegiance. Trinamool is a party of the people; our government is a humane government. We have come to seek your support, blessings and cooperation based on the work we have done in the last four years.

 

 

চা বাগানের উন্নয়ন করেছে তৃণমূল: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

আজ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উত্তরবঙ্গ সফরের চতুর্থ দিন। আজ আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলার বীরপাড়ায় এবং ময়নাগুড়িতে জনসভা করলেন তৃণমূল নেত্রী।

গত ১৪ই মার্চ ফাঁসিদেওয়ায় একটি জনসভার মাধ্যমে উত্তরবঙ্গে তৃণমূলনেত্রী প্রচার শুরু করেন। এরপর ওইদিনই নন্দীগ্রাম দিবস উপলক্ষে মাটিগাড়ায় একটি পদযাত্রা করেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। ১৫ই মার্চ কার্শিয়াঙে এবং ১৬ই মার্চ কালচিনি ও নাগরাকাটায় জনসভা করেন তিনি। গতকাল মালবাজারে একটি পদযাত্রায় অংশগ্রহণ করেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

সিপিএম-কংগ্রেসের জোটকে ‘অনৈতিক ঘোঁট’ আখ্যা দিয়ে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বলেন তৃণমূল মানুষের সঙ্গে জোট করেছে।

তিনি বিরোধীদের চ্যালেঞ্জ করেন তার সঙ্গে রাজনৈতিকভাবে লড়াই করার জন্য। তিনি বিরোধীদের আহ্বান জানান উন্নয়ন ও কাজের মাপকাঠিতে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের সঙ্গে প্রতিযোগিতা করার জন্য। বিরোধীদের সঙ্গে মিডিয়ার একাংশ একযোগে তৃণমূলের বিরুদ্ধে ক্রমাগত চক্রান্ত, কুৎসা ও নিন্দার রাজনীতি শুরু করেছে।

বীরপাড়ায় তৃণমূল নেত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশঃ 

আমি আগে অনেকবার এসেছি বীরপাড়ায়। আমি এই জায়গাটাকে ভালোবাসি এবং আমি বারবার আসব উত্তরবঙ্গে। আমরা বাংলাকে কখনো ভাগ হতে দেব না। আমরা বাংলার শান্তি ও সম্প্রীতি রক্ষা করব।

উন্নয়ন

আমরা নতুন জেলা আলিপুরদুয়ার তৈরি করেছি, মানুষের বহুদিনের চাহিদা পূর্ণ করেছি। পানীয় জল, বিদ্যুৎ পৌঁছে গেছে ঘরে ঘরে। আইটিআই,পলিটেকনিক কলেজ, ন্যায্য মূল্যের ওষুধের দোকান থেকে কিষাণ মাণ্ডি সবকিছু দিয়েছে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সরকার। বাংলার ৯ কোটি মানুষের মধ্যে ৮ কোটি মানুষ ২টাকা কেজি চাল পাচ্ছে। কেন্দ্র টাকা দেওয়া বন্ধ করে দেওয়া সত্ত্বেও আমরা আইসিডিএস প্রকল্প চালু রেখেছি। গত সাড়ে চার বছরে ৩ লক্ষ পাট্টা প্রদান করা হয়েছে। আমরা কিষাণ ক্রেডিট কার্ড দিয়েছি, গীতাঞ্জলি প্রকল্পের আওতায় আবাসন তৈরি করেছি গরীবদের জন্য।অস্থায়ী ও চুক্তিভিত্তিক কর্মীদের কাজের নিরাপত্তা দিয়েছি।

বিরোধীদের উদ্দেশ্যে

৩৪ বছরে কোন উন্নয়ন হয়নি। যারা বছরের পর বছর রাজ্যকে পিছিয়ে নিয়ে গেছে তারা আজ কুৎসা, অপপ্রচারে মেতেছে। আইসিডিএস প্রকল্পের টাকা বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে কেন্দ্র সরকার। মানুষের স্বার্থে আমাদের সরকার সেই প্রকল্পগুলি চালু রেখেছে। সর্ব শিক্ষা অভিযানের টাকা বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে কেন্দ্র সরকার, আমরা চালু রেখেছি সেই প্রকল্প।

শিক্ষা

আমরা বানারহাটে একটি হিন্দী কলেজ স্থাপন করা হয়েছে। আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলায় মডেল স্কুল চালু হয়েছে। ৩৩ লক্ষ ছাত্রী কন্যাশ্রী স্কলারশিপ পেয়েছে, এর মাধ্যমে তারা পড়াশোনার সুযোগ পাচ্ছে। আইটিআই,পলিটেকনিক কলেজ তৈরি হয়েছে। তফশিলি জাতি-উপজাতি ছাত্রছাত্রীদের জন্য শিক্ষাশ্রী চালু করেছি আমরা। ২২ লক্ষ ছাত্রছাত্রী এর মাধ্যমে উপকৃত হয়েছে।সবুজসাথী প্রকল্পে ২৫ লক্ষ সাইকেল দেওয়া হয়েছে ছাত্রছাত্রীদের। বাকি ১৫ লক্ষ ছাত্রছাত্রী জুন মাসের মধ্যে সাইকেল পেয়ে যাবে। ১ কোটি ৫ লক্ষ সংখ্যালঘু ছাত্র-ছাত্রীকে বৃত্তি প্রদান করা হয়েছে, যা দেশের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ।

চা–শ্রমিক

চা শ্রমিকদের উন্নতিসাধনে ১০০ কোটি টাকার একটি ফান্ড তৈরি করা হয়েছে। চা শ্রমিকরা এখন ৪৭ পয়সা কেজি দরে চাল পাচ্ছে।

তৃণমূল মানুষের সরকার, মানবিক সরকার। আমরা মানুষের জন্য কাজ করি। আমরা পাহাড়ের ভাই-বোনেদের ভালোবাসি, এর আগে কোন সরকার তাদের জন্যও এত কাজ করেনি।

আমাদের কাজের ওপর নির্ভর করে আমরা আপনাদের সমর্থন ও আশীর্বাদ প্রার্থনা করি।
