The New Town authorities have teamed up with IIT Kharagpur to find how happy the township’s people are and ways to make them happier. An IIT team will carry out a study in New Town for two years with logistical support from HIDCO.

The team will hold interactive sessions with residents as well as those who work in the township but live elsewhere to understand what makes them happy and what can be done to make them happier.

Walkability, transport, better education and health system are some of the topics on which the people will be questioned.

The parameters of the study will be existing happiness, subjective well-being and quality of life in New Town.

The study will look into various aspects of living in a city like transport, solid waste management system, greenery and city spaces or squares that offer people a chance to interact with each other.

 

 

নিউ টাউনকে হ্যাপি সিটি করতে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য সরকার

আইআইটি খড়গপুরের সঙ্গে যৌথ উদ্যোগে নিউ টাউনকে হ্যাপি সিটি করতে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য সরকার।

গত ২ বছর ধরে একটি আইআইটি টিম হিডকোর সমর্থনে নিউ টাউনে একটি সমীক্ষা চালাচ্ছে। বৃহস্পতিবার ইকো পার্কে একটি কর্মশালার আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল। নিউ টাউনের মানুষকে কিভাবে খুশি রাখা যায় সেই বিষয়ে আলোচনার জন্যই টাউনশিপ অথরিটি এবং আইআইটি টিম এই কর্মশালার আয়োজন করেছিল।

নিউ টাউনের মানুষকে কিভাবে খুশি রাখা যায় সেই বিষয়ে ওখানকার বাসিন্দা এবং যারা ওই টাউনশিপে কাজ করে অথচ অন্য কোথাও থাকেন তাদের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করবে এই টিম। পরিবহন, উন্নত শিক্ষা ও স্বাস্থ্য ব্যবস্থা সহ অন্যান্য বিষয়েও মানুষ তাদের প্রশ্ন করতে পারবেন।

সমীক্ষায় পরিবহন, কঠিন বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনা সিস্টেম ও সবুজায়নের ওপর বিশেষ নজর দেওয়া হচ্ছে। আগামী দিনে বসবাসের জন্য উপযুক্ত পরিবেশ গড়ে তুলতে এই ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হয়েছে।
