Bengal Govt provides financial assistance to hailstorm-affected farmers

West Bengal Government will provide financial compensation to farmers who lost their crops due to hail storms and Kalboisakhi during the second fortnight of February and first week of April, 2015.

West Bengal Government has announced a relief of Rs 69 crore to farmers who have suffered crop damage between February and April.

Farmers who were affected will be compensated with Rs 1800/bigha. An affected farmer may get a maximum compensation of Rs 27,000 (for 15 Bighas 0f land).

The State Government will be disbursing the financial relief under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the same will be distributed to the farmers through account payee cheques.
