Echoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s words, Bengal Finance minister Dr Amit Mitra on Wednesday said that the demonetisation had caused a loss of around Rs 25,000 crore of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per day from country’s exchequer.

“The country’s GDP per day is around Rs 45,000 crore. The Chief Minister estimated the loss of GDP per day at around Rs 25,000 crore. This is a huge loss. The nation’s economy will be affected by the Centre’s decision of demonetisation,” Dr Mitra said on the sidelines of the Global Mining Summit and International Mining and Machinery Exhibition, organised by the CII and supported by Coal India Ltd, Ministry of Mines, Coal, Steel, and some other stakeholders.

“The loss is increasing day-by-day. Stranded truckers are waiting for solution in border areas, the traders cannot find any way to do business, and fish markets are empty as there are no buyers. Where we are going?” Dr Mitra asked.

বাংলার অর্থমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র বুধবার জানান, নোট বাতিলের যে হঠকারী সিদ্ধান্ত কেন্দ্র নিয়েছে তার ফলে প্রতিদিন দেশের জিডিপির ২৫০০০ কোটি টাকা করে লোকসান হচ্ছে।

তিনি বলেন, “সারা দেশের দৈনিক জিডিপি প্রায় ৪৫০০০ কোটি টাকা। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হিসেব মত, এই নোট বাতিলের ফলে প্রতিদিন প্রায় ২৫০০০ কোটি টাকা ক্ষতি হচ্ছে। দেশের কাছে এটা খুবই বড় একটি ক্ষতি।”

তিনি আরো বলেন “এই ক্ষতি দিন দিন বেড়ে চলেছে। রাজ্যগুলির সীমানায় হাজার হাজার ট্রাক দাঁড়িয়ে আছে শুধু সমাধানের অপেক্ষায়। ব্যবসায়ীরা কোনো রাস্তা খুঁজে পাচ্ছে না তাদের ব্যবসা চালানোর। মাছের বাজার পুরো ফাঁকা পড়ে আছে কারণ কোনো ক্রেতা নেই।”

Our party has submitted an Adjournment Motion. We want a discussion on that Adjournment Motion because what we feel is that demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes have caused tremendous difficulties to the poor people, to the common people. They are passing their days with huge difficulties. So, let this decision be temporarily be withdrawn to chalk out a final plan. We should all fight against black money, together.

Sir, I first want to thank you. Yesterday, you admitted all the notices of all the opposition parties. Even though my notice was the first, we could not speak because as you know we had a programme outside. All the opposition parties expressed their views, they had different views, many, many objections – but the objective is the same.

Now many other opposition parties are left to speak. Many have spoken yesterday. This discussion continued the whole of yesterday. We have a different view. We think that beyond the debate there should be a voting. But that’s my party’s view; others may not agree with the view.

The person who made this announcement at 8 O’clock on the 8th of November, where is he? Even if he’s here, we want a vote on this.

Trinamool today stepped up the pressure against the Centre on the issue of demonetisation. Party MPs from both the Houses assembled near the Gandhi statue outside Parliament to do a dharna highlighting the suffering of common people due to demonetisation.

In Lok Sabha, Leader of the party in Lower House, Sudip Bandyopadhyay submitted an Adjournment Motion and sought an immediate discussion on the issue.

“We want to categorically state that we are all against Black Money and should fight against it together. We feel that ban on Rs 500 & Rs 1000 notes has caused tremendous difficulties to the poor  & common people. Let this decision be withdrawn temporarily to chalk out a final plan,” he said.

In Rajya Sabha, Trinamool submitted a Notice under Rule 168 seeking voting along with discussion on demonetisation. Leader of the party in Rajya Sabha, Derek O’Brien said, “We are ready for a discussion, even if the Prime Minister is not here, but we want voting”.

 

 

নোট বাতিল ইস্যুতে কেন্দ্রের ওপর চাপ বাড়াল তৃণমূল

মানুষের হয়রানির প্রতিবাদে কেন্দ্রের ওপর চাপ বাড়াতে সংসদের বাইরে গান্ধী মূর্তির পাদদেশে তৃণমূল সাংসদরা জমায়েত হয়ে ধর্ণা দেন।

লোকসভায় তৃণমূলের দলনেতা সুদীপ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় মুলতুবি প্রস্তাব এনে নোট বাতিলের ওপর আলোচনার দাবি জানান।

তিনি বলেন “আমরা দৃঢ়তার সঙ্গে জানিয়েছি আমরা সকলে কালো টাকার বিরোধী, সবাইকে এর বিরুদ্ধে একজোট হয়ে লড়তে হবে।  কিন্তু ৫০০ ও ১০০০ টাকার নোট বাতিল হওয়ার ফলে মানুষকে চূড়ান্ত দুর্ভোগের মধ্যে পড়তে হচ্ছে। আপাতত এই সিদ্ধান্ত বাতিল করে সঠিক পরিকল্পনা করে তবেই সিদ্ধান্ত কার্যকর করা হোক।”

আলোচনার পাশাপাশি রাজ্যসভাতে নোট বাতিল ইস্যুতে ১৬৮ নম্বর নিয়ম অনুসারে ভোটের দাবি জানান রাজ্যসভায় তৃণমূলের দলনেতা ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েন। তিনি বলেন যে তৃণমূল আলোচনায় রাজি কিন্তু শেষে ভোটাভুটি চাই।

Trinamool Congress parliamentarians on Wednesday staged a demonstration outside the Parliament in New Delhi opposing the demonetisation move of the Centre and demanding its rollback.

The MPs shouted slogans against demonetisation and called the move a financial emergency. Shouting “Nehi Chalega” they demanded that the measure be rolled back immediately.

“The move is only harassing the common people. We want a rollback,” they said.

Trinamool was the first party to submit a Suspension Notice in Rajya Sabha on the issue under Rule 267; other parties followed suit. The Chair allowed the suspension of business for the day to take up a discussion on demonetisation.

৫০০ ও ১০০০ টাকার নোট বাতিলের সিদ্ধান্তের প্রতিবাদে ও কেন্দ্রের এই হঠকারী সিদ্ধান্ত প্রত্যাহারের দাবিতে আজ তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের সাংসদরা সংসদের বাইরে বিক্ষোভ প্রদর্শন করেন।

দেশে যে অর্থনৈতিক অরাজকতা তৈরী হয়েছে বিরুদ্ধে তার বিরুদ্ধে তারা প্রতিবাদে মুখর হন। তৃণমূলের দাবি, কেন্দ্রের এই পদক্ষেপের ফলে সাধারণ মানুষকে প্রতি মুহূর্তে দুর্ভোগের সম্মুখীন হতে হচ্ছে, তাই এই সিদ্ধান্তের প্রত্যাহার প্রয়োজন।

নোট বাতিল ইস্যুতে ২৬৭ নম্বর নিয়ম অনুসারে রাজ্য সভায় তৃণমূলই প্রথম সাসপেনশন নোটিশ দেয়; অন্যান্য দলগুলিও পরবর্তীতে এই নোটিস দেয়। রাজ্যসভার মাননীয় চেয়ারম্যান আজ ধার্য করেছেন নোট বাতিল ইস্যুতে আলোচনার জন্য।

Trinamool Congress today urged the Centre to withdraw the draconian decision of demonetisation for the time being and give people some breathing space.

Trinamool voiced its concerns about this ‘financial emergency’ at an All-Party Meeting ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament. Sudip Bandyopadhyay (Leader of the party in Lok Sabha) and Derek O’Brien (Leader of the party in Rajya Sabha) represented Trinamool at the meeting.

“Trinamool was the first party to submit a Suspension Notice in Rajya Sabha on November 10. We are happy other parties followed us,” Sudip Bandyopadhyay said.

“We outlined the suffering of the common people due to demonetisation. We maintained that a proper plan of action is needed before proceeding. This is a hasty, unprepared decision” he added.

“Trinamool is not in favour of black money. We are the first party to wear black shawls in Parliament as a mark of protest,” said the veteran leader.

Trinamool also raised the issues of surgical strike in Jammu & Kashmir, federalism, state funding of elections and OROP implementation at the meet. The party also demanded that the Citizenship Bill be withdrawn.

As the All Party Meet began, Sudip Bandyopadhyay announced that Trinamool Congress has now been recognised as a National Party. This announcement was greeted with thumping of desks by representatives of all parties.

 

নোট বাতিলের এই হঠকারী সিদ্ধান্ত অবিলম্বে প্রত্যাহার করা উচিতঃ সর্বদল বৈঠকে তৃণমূল

আজ সর্বদল বৈঠকে নোট বাতিলের এই হঠকারী সিদ্ধান্তকে প্রত্যাহার করার এবং সাধারণ মানুষকে আর কিছু সময় দেওয়ার আর্জি জানিয়েছে তৃণমূল।

সংসদের শীতকালীন অধিবেশনের আগে সর্বদল বৈঠকে দেশে অর্থনৈতিক জরুরী অবস্থা চলছে বলে উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করে তৃণমূল। লোকসভার দলনেতা সুদীপ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এবং রাজ্যসভার দলনেতা ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েন তৃণমূলের প্রতিনিধি হিসাবে বৈঠকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

সুদীপ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বলেন, তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস প্রথম দল যারা রাজ্য সভায় সাসপেনশন নোটিস দিয়েছে। আমরা খুশি যে অন্য দলেরাও আমাদের অনুসরণ করেছে।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “নোট বাতিলের জন্য সাধারণ মানুষের চরম ভোগান্তি হচ্ছে। এই প্রক্রিয়া চালু করার আগে একটি সঠিক পরিকল্পনা করার প্রয়োজন ছিল। এটা একটা হঠকারী সিদ্ধান্ত”।

সাংসদ জানান, “তৃণমূল কালো টাকার পক্ষে নয়। আমরাই প্রথম দল যারা সংসদে কালো শাল গায়ে দিয়ে কালো টাকার বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদ জানিয়েছে”।

এদিন সর্বদল বৈঠকে জম্মু ও কাশ্মীরে সার্জিক্যাল স্ট্রাইকের ইস্যু, যুক্ত রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিকাঠামো, নির্বাচনী সংস্কার, ওআরওপি বাস্তবায়ন এই সব বিষয়ও উত্থাপিত করে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস। এদিন নাগরিকত্ব বিল প্রত্যাহার করার দাবিও জানায় তৃণমূল।

সর্বদল বৈঠক শুরু হওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই সুদীপ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় জানান, তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস এখন জাতীয় দল হিসাবে স্বীকৃতি পেয়েছে। এই ঘোষণার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে সব দলের প্রতিনিধিরা তাদের অভিনন্দন জানান।

In a bid to check the hike in prices of essential goods due to demonetisation of higher denomination currency notes, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Monday that no agricultural tax would be imposed on entry of trucks to Bengal from other states for the next three days.

The decision has been taken so that vegetables and other essential items loaded in trucks, which are stuck at different border entry points for failing to pay the tax, do not perish.

The supply of essential goods is likely to fall if trucks remain stranded at the borders for next few days.

In one of her tweets, Mamata Banerjee stated: “Thousands of trucks carrying vegetables & other essential products are stuck at different state borders because they cannot pay toll tax. Waiting for 3 days. To save farmers and commoners, perishable vegetables should not be allowed to spoil. Bengal government has decided not to impose any agricultural tax on movement of trucks for next 3 days.”

In another tweet, she stated: “Thousands of trucks all over the country carrying essential goods and perishables facing huge cash shortage crisis. This issue will become even more serious over next few days and push essential prices up beyond control. Quick action needed.”

Reports on trucks loaded with goods, including perishable ones, stranded at borders led to panic among traders in the state. They apprehended a hike in price of essential goods due to short supply as the trucks were not able to enter the state without paying the tax. At the same time, goods like fishes and vegetables worth crores of rupees were perishing in the trucks itself. It would leave a deep impact on the market.

The shortfall in the supply of essential goods would lead to inconvenience to the people as on the one hand they do not have the required money while on the other the prices of essential goods may go up.

Truck owners and traders in the state heaved a sigh of relief with Mamata Banerjee’s announcement on exemption of agricultural tax. They felt that the decision was crucial and timely or they had to stop bringing in goods from other states.
