Mamata Banerjee condoles the death of deceased First Lady of India

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Chairperson Ms Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday condoled the passing away of the First Lady of India Mrs Suvra Mukherjee. In a series of tweets she expressed her grief at the news.

“Saddened to hear that Rashtrapati ji’s wife Suvra boudi is no more. Cannot believe she has passed. Such is life. We have to accept the truth. I have known Suvra boudi for more than three decades. She was simple, lovable and a caring housewife,” she posted on her Twitter page.

“May God give Rashtrapati ji and his family the strength to bear the loss,” she added.

Mamata Banerjee flew to New Delhi last evening to pay her respects to the deceased First Lady. She is attending the final rites of Mrs Mukherjee today in New Delhi.

After paying her tributes to Mrs Mukherjee at Talkotra Road, she tweeted: “Sad evening in Delhi. Paid my respects to Suvra boudi and offered condolences to Rashtrapatiji and family. Death brings back memories.”

She was accompanied by Subrata Mukherjee, Subhendu Adhikari, Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O’Brien and Dinesh Trivedi.
