WB Govt to launch boat ambulances for patients living in remote islands

The West Bengal Government is going to launch boat ambulances with GPS tracking and other emergency facilities for patients living in remote islands of Malda and South 24 Parganas.

The service that will be available between 6am and 6pm in two blocks of the two districts initially, will later be extended to round-the-clock.

There will be arrangement of medicines and some other necessary items for the treatment of the seriously ill patients. The Malda district administration and health department has already got the order to start the service.

A health department employee will be supervise the boat ambulance.

Incidentally the State Government had already launched helicopter-ambulance service during the Ganga Sagar Mela and lives could be saved because of the service.

The West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee had laid special focus to revive the health infrastructure of the State and around 40 multi-super specialty hospitals have been planned covering all the districts. Some of these hospitals have already been inaugurated.
