A Pulse Seeds Hub has been set up at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya in Nadia district by the Bengal Government, aimed at ensuring steady supply of higher grade pulse varieties for the farmers of the State.
The hub has been set up at the farms of the university.
Six varieties of pulses – moong, kalai, masoor, chana, matar and arhar – for growing in the pre-kharif, kharif and rabi seasons would be available at the hub.
Sowing seeds of the superior varieties from the hub would lead to significant improvement in the amount and the varieties of pulses produced, and consequently, in income for farmers. Additionally, whenever required, the farmers would also get technical guidance from the scientists of the university.
রাজ্যে তৈরী হল ডালশস্য বীজ হাব
বিধানচন্দ্র কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে গড়ে উঠেছে ডালশস্য বীজ হাব। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের খামারগুলিতেই গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে এই হাব।
এর মূল উদ্দেশ্য হল চাষিদের হাতে ন্যায্য মূল্যে উন্নতমানের ডালশস্য বীজ তুলে দেওয়া। রাজ্যে বিপুল পরিমাণ ডালের ঘাটতি পূরণ করার জন্যই এই সিদ্ধান্ত।
প্রাক খরিফ, খরিফ ও রবিতে এই বীজ উৎপাদনের কাজ চলছে। যেসব ডালের বীজগুলি এখান থেকে পাওয়া যাবে সেগুলি হল – মুগ, কলাই, মুসুরি, ছোলা, মটর ও অড়হর।
এই বীজ নিয়ে চাষ করলে চাষিরা যেমন আর্থিক দিক থেকে লাভবান হবে তেমনই অধিক ফলনশীল জাতের ডালচাষের ফলে উৎপাদনও বাড়বে। প্রয়োজনে কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে কৃষিবিজ্ঞানীদের পরামর্শও পাবেন তারা।
