Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was the chief guest at the CAB annual awards ceremony in Kolkata today.

The best men and women cricketers in Bengal are presented awards annually. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Palash Nandy. A special reception was given to pace bowler Jhulan Goswami for her exploits at the recently-concluded ICC Women’s World Cup in England, where India reached the final.

The main points of her speech were:

It is a matter of great pride that the final of the under-17 FIFA World Cup will be held in Kolkata. A total of seven to eight matches would be held here. This tournament will produce the Indian footballers of the future.

Another big gain for Kolkata would be the fact that Diego Maradona and many other giants of world football would come to Kolkata on the occasion of the World Cup.

Our lives are incomplete without sports. Sports is an integral part of our civilization and our culture.

A lot of academies are coming up these days where a lot of children are getting training in various sports. The State Government presents awards and thus encourages sporting activities.

I ask the children and youth of Bengal to get involved more in sports – be it cricket, kabaddi, football, swimming, archery or any other sports.

 

 

খেলা ছাড়া আমাদের জীবন সম্পূর্ণ হয় না: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

 

আজ CAB-র বার্ষিক পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির আসন অলংকৃত করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

বার্ষিক পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে বছরের সেরা ক্রিকেটারদের পুরস্কৃত করা হয়। জীবনকৃতির পুরস্কার তুলে দেওয়া হয় পলাশ নন্দীর হাতে। ভারতীয় মহিলা দলের ক্রিকেটার ঝুলন গোস্বামীকে তাঁর সাফল্যের জন্য বিশেষ সংবর্ধনা দেওয়া হয়।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশ: 

এবছর ফুটবলের আন্ডার ১৭-এর ফাইনাল ম্যাচ কলকাতায় হচ্ছে, এটা কিন্তু একটা বড় গর্বের ব্যাপার। ফাইনাল আগামী ২৮শে অক্টোবর। এরকম প্রায় ৭টা ৮টা খেলা হবে। এই সুযোগে আগামী দিনের খেলোয়াড়রা ভবিষ্যতের জন্য তৈরি হবে।

সারা বিশ্বের মারাদোনা থেকে শুরু করে সবাই তারাও নিশ্চয়ই অনেকেই আসবেন, সুতরাং এটা কিন্তু কলকাতার একটা বড় পাওনা।

খেলা ছাড়া আমাদের জীবন সম্পূর্ণ হয় না, খেলা আমাদের সভ্যতা আমাদের সংস্কৃতির মধ্যে এমন ভাবে জড়িয়ে আছে।

আজকাল অনেক অ্যাকাডেমিও তৈরি হচ্ছে, অনেক জায়গায় বাচ্চাদের ট্রেনিং দেওয়া হচ্ছে। সরকারের তরফ থেকে এখন পুরস্কার দেওয়া হয়।

ক্রিকেট, কাবাডি, ফুটবল থেকে শুরু করে সুইমিং থেকে শুরু করে আরচারি থেকে শুরু করে সমস্ত স্পোর্টসে আপনারা সকলে এগিয়ে যান।
