Sudip Bandyopadhyay’s Zero Hour notice on the skyrocketing fuel prices

Sir, I think that the whole House is concerned about the price hike issue of diesel, petrol and gas. I apprehend that the range of price of petrol, diesel and domestic gas can go up to the number one position in the world also as it is increasing very fast. Nobody is replying about the reasons for it. Commonly, it is said that the oil companies take the decision on their own and the Government does not interfere in the matter. This is the common saying of the Government. But during elections to a few States including Uttar Pradesh, it was appearing then that price hike of fuel was totally stopped and it was the apprehension of the common people that the moment election results are out prices will skyrocket and their apprehensions came true. Such type of issues should be discussed on the floor of the House at least once, and we want to hear from the hon. Prime Minister as to where it will go and stop; how far up it can go; and where we can stop it? It is because this has become the most crucial issue nowadays. Price hike is the most serious and burning issue. So, the Government should take it with all priority and come to the House to address the House
