Kalyan Banerjee makes Zero Hour mention on resuming MPLAD fund for developmental purposes

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Sir, this is vide my two letters, one dated March 27, 2020 and another one letter dated April 6, 2020. In both the letters, I sanctioned Rs 1 crore each from my MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund for setting up medical testing, screening and other facilities required for detecting and containing COVID-19.
These amounts were allocated for 2019-20. With respect to the second instalment, the money has been approved by the district magistrate, who has sent the recommendation to the Centre, but unfortunately till this day, this Rs 1 crore has not been sanctioned by the Central government. Six months have gone by with COVID-19, yet the development fund has not reached the beneficiaries.
Sir, this is number one. My second point is that even if you take away 100 per cent of my salary, I won’t mind and I think no member will mind. But please allocate the MPLAD funds in full so that we can work for the benefit of the people, and for the country.
Sir, another thing: Yesterday, the Honourable Defence Minister, who is here today, had said that in case of urgency, the Ministers will also give replies to issues raised. I hope the Centre sees the importance of the issue I have raised and the concerned Minister gives an appropriate reply to it.
