Mamata Banerjee thanks people, puja committees and administration after Durga Puja

Bengal CM took to her Facebook page to thank the crores of people who participated in the festivities of the Durga Puja, the Puja committees for their cooperation and the police and the administration for maintaining discipline and smoothness.

At the end of Durga Puja, the biggest festival in the world, I would like to thank the crores of people who visited the puja mandaps and participated in the festivities and made the festival celebration so joyful.

I would also like to thank the puja committees, clubs and all communities for their total cooperation and overwhelming support.
I thank the police and civil administration for their tireless endeavour to make the puja celebration smooth, peaceful and disciplined.

Some of the noted puja organisers will be participating in the carnival at Red Road on 3 October, being organised by the state government for the second time.

I invite all of you to come and witness the beautiful event.

My best wishes to all.

Bengal Govt makes elaborate preparations for Durga Puja immersion

Elaborate security arrangements were made by Kolkata police as well as the civic authorities for the peaceful conduct of the immersion processions to the various ghats and the ceremonies thereon.

Officers of the Kolkata Police manned the riverfront to prevent onlookers from getting too close to the river. Special vigil was being maintained from a watch tower near the ghat.

Cranes were deployed at certain ghats to lift and extricate the remains of idols from the river to avoid pollution. Additional lights were put up at the immersion ghats and the flowers, levers and metallic weapons were dumped in separate vats to avoid polluting the river.

Other than maintaining law and order during immersion, teams of river police and disaster management groups patrolled the river. Closed-circuit television cameras were installed at certain ghats too.

শান্তিপূর্ণভাবে দুর্গা প্রতিমা বিসর্জনের জন্য সবরকম ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করেছে রাজ্য সরকার

দুর্গা প্রতিমার বিসর্জন যাতে শান্তিপূর্ণভাবে হয় সেজন্য প্রতিবারের মত এবারও কলকাতা পুলিশ বিশেষ নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থার আয়োজন করেছে।

বিশেষ পুলিশ বাহিনী মোতায়েন করা হয়েছে। বিসর্জন দেখার জন্য প্রতিটি ঘাটে সাধারণ মানুষের জন্য একটি নির্দিষ্ট জায়গা তৈরি করা হয়েছে। বিশেষ ওয়াচ টাওয়ারও বসানো হয়েছে এর মাধ্যমে নজর রাখা হবে সমগ্র পদ্ধতির ওপর।

দূষণ প্রতিরোধের জন্য প্রতিটি ঘাটে ক্রেন রাখা হয়েছে। প্রতিমা বিসর্জনের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে মূর্তি ও অন্যান্য জিনিস জল থেকে তুলে নেওয়া হবে ক্রেনের মাধ্যমে। অতিরিক্ত আলো লাগানো হয়েছে। ফুল ও পুজোর অন্যান্য সামগ্রী ফেলার জন্য আলাদা জায়গার ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে।

বিসর্জনের সময় আইন-শৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতির ওপর নজর রাখার জন্য বিশেষ পুলিশ বাহিনী চারদিকে টহল দেবে। এছাড়া প্রতিটি ঘাটে ক্লোজ সার্কিট ক্যামেরাও বসানো হয়েছে।

প্রতিমা বিসর্জনের পাশাপাশি পর্যটকদের জন্য রাস্তায় ও ঘাটে পর্যাপ্ত ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হয়েছে।

বিশ্ব বাংলা শারদ সম্মান ২০১৭ বিজয়ীদের তালিকা ঘোষণা করল রাজ্য সরকার

প্রতি বছরের ন্যায় এবারেও বিশ্ব বাংলা শারদ সম্মান প্রদান করবে রাজ্য সরকার। এটি তৃতীয় বর্ষ। কলকাতা ছাড়াও দেশের ও বিদেশের নানা পুজোর সেরাগুলিকে সম্মাননা প্রদান করা হবে এবছর।

এবছরের পুরস্কারের নানা বিভাগ আছে, যেমন – প্রতিমা, মূল ভাবনা, আলোকসজ্জা, পরিবেশবান্ধব পুজো, বছরের সেরা আবিষ্কার,ঢাকিশ্রী, বিশ্ব বাংলা ব্র্যান্ডিং, সেরার সেরা।
বিশ্ব বাংলা শারদ সম্মান প্রদান করা হবে নভেম্বরে। বিজয়ীদের নাম ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।

Bengal Chief Minister writes Durga Puja theme song

Like in the last two years, this year too Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written the theme song for the Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja in New Alipore.

The theme song for this year is Boichitrer Muktoy Gantha Ekotar Monihar. Through this song, Mamata Banerjee has endeavoured to spread the message of peace and communal harmony. The music for the song has been composed by Jeet Ganguly and the song has been sung by Shreya Ghosal. A music video has also been produced, which is available online.

Despite her busy schedule, Mamata Banerjee makes it a point to give time for creative pursuits – be it painting or writing stories and poems as well as non-fiction. Till date, she has written almost 70 books. Every year, during the International Kolkata Book Fair, she releases her books.

দুর্গা পুজোর থিম সং লিখলেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

গত দু’বছরের ন্যায় এবারেও সুরুচি সংঘের দুর্গা পুজোর থিম সং লিখলেন তৃণমূল নেত্রী তথা রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

নানা ব্যস্ততার মধ্যেও দিদি লেখান এবং ছবি আঁকেন। আজ অবধি ওনার ৭০টি বই প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। ওনার লেখা নতুন বই বেরোবে ২০১৮ সালের বইমেলায়।

এই থিম সংটির শীর্ষক হল ‘বৈচিত্রের মুক্তোয় গাঁথা একতার মণিহার ’ – এই গানের মাধ্যমে দিদি সম্প্রীতি ও শান্তির বার্তা দিয়েছেন।

গানটির সংগীত পরিচালনা করেছেন জিৎ গাঙ্গুলী এবং গেয়েছেন শ্রেয়া ঘোষাল ।

Kolkata Police’s Utsav App to help pandal-hoppers during Durga Puja

With smartphones becoming ubiquitous, apps for various purposes are the norm. Keeping this in mind, Kolkata Police created the Utsav App a few years back to help pandal-hoppers during Durga Puja.

The Utsav App becomes one of the most popular apps during the Durga Puja days. It acts as a comprehensive guide to the pandals. This year, the existing features of the app have been enhanced and some new features have been added too.

All the 350 major pujas of Kolkata have been covered – for each, there is a route guide, a detailed storyline, including information on the theme, contact numbers and addresses, and pictures. Since the app links the puja pandals with an online map, one can get turn-by-turn navigation to these destinations.

One can also upload photos and rate and review the pujas. Using the app, a user can check-in and share their status on Facebook.

This year a new section has been added to the app, which the police are expecting to be of major help. Pandal-hoppers will be able to gauge the rush and time required to reach the top 20 puja pandals in Kolkata.

According to a senior official of Kolkata Police, the app will provide an estimated time of arrival (ETA) from the last person in the queue to the pandals of these pujas.

One can also check the nearest pay-and-use toilets, police stations, hospitals and restaurants. Another important section of the app is where photograph and information about a missing child can be uploaded for the police to track and find.

The app also incorporates a ‘Chat and Adda’ feature through which users can find new friends and chat with them.

হাতে অ্যাপ, উৎসবে বন্ধু পুলিশ

কোন পথে পুজো? বলে দেবে উৎসব-অ্যাপ। ডাউনলো়ড করা যায় বন্ধু-অ্যাপও!
কলকাতা পুলিশের উদ্যোগে তৈরি এই দুই অ্যাপ হাতে থাকলেই কেল্লাফতে। পথ হারানোর জো নেই। পুজোর মণ্ডপের রাস্তা, ম্যাপ থেকে শুরু করে আশপাশে কোথায় গাড়ি পার্ক করা যাবে, কোথায় খাবারের দোকান— বলে দেবে অ্যাপ।

গত কয়েক বছরের মতো এ বার পুজোতেও এ ভাবেই নাগরিকদের পাশে থাকবে কলকাতা পুলিশ। শহরের দক্ষিণ, দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব, উত্তর, মধ্য বন্দর এলাকা থেকে শুরু করে দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিম এবং দক্ষিণ শহরতলির বড় বড় পুজোর রুট-ম্যাপ থাকছে তাদের উৎসব অ্যাপে। শুধু কি ঠাকুর দেখা? থাকছে আরও অনেক কিছুই। অ্যাপ খুললেই জানা যাবে কোন এলাকায় রয়েছে কোন রেস্তোঁরা। পুজোর শহর সাফ রাখতে সুলভ শৌচাগারগুলির খবরও রয়েছে সেই অ্যাপে।

তবে যাঁরা এই সব অ্যাপ ডাউনলোড করার মতো স্মার্ট ফোন ব্যবহার করেন না, তাঁদের কথাও মাথায় রেখেছে পুলিশ। তৈরি হয়েছে লিফলেট। পুজোর মণ্ডপের খুঁটিনাটি ছাড়াও সেখানে বাংলা এবং ইংরাজিতে লেখা থাকছে শৌচাগারের তথ্য।

উৎসব অ্যাপ ছাড়াও কলকাতা পুলিশের দৈনন্দিন ‘বন্ধু অ্যাপ’ থাকলেও একই সুবিধা পাবেন সাধারণ মানুষ।

For Singur, Durga Puja 2017 would be special indeed

For the residents of Singur, the 2017 Durga Puja would be special. After a long struggle, they have at last got back their land, taken away forcibly in 2006 for setting up industry by the Left Front Government.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been instrumental in the successful culmination of the Singur Movement. A few months back, after the Supreme Court’s final verdict, Mamata Banerjee had herself felicitated the people involved in the struggle and family members of those killed and affected during the violence unleashed on Singur. She had also sown the first seeds for the new crops with her own hand.

And now, Singur is going to witness its first Durga Puja festival after a momentous victory. A long and hard-fought struggle, laced with the blood and tears of hundreds of people, has come to an end. It’s time for celebration now. And celebrate they will.

Potato, onion, maize, paddy and other crops have been harvested. With the money earned from selling the crops, the people are making preparations for grand festivities – buying clothes and fire-crackers, building colourful pandals, creating idols decked up in finery, and so much more.

The good times have returned. And with the people of Singur too in spirit is the whole of Bengal, celebrating the revival of a people’s hopes and aspirations.

ফিরে পাওয়া জমির প্রথম ফসল দিয়ে ফের পুজোয় মেতে উঠেছে সিঙ্গুরবাসী

গ্রামের মানুষের ত্যাগ আর প্রার্থনায় সাড়া দিয়েছেন মা। টানা দশ বছর ধরে অবস্থান, ধর্না, অনশন ও আদালতে দীর্ঘ লড়াইয়ের পর সর্বোচ্চ আদালতের নির্দেশে ঘরের লক্ষ্মী অর্থাৎ জমি ফিরে পেয়েছেন অনিচ্ছুকসহ সমস্ত চাষিরা। হারানো জমির পাশাপাশি পেয়েছেন ক্ষতিপূরণের টাকাও। আদালতের রায়ের পর কেড়ে নেওয়া জমি হাতে পেয়ে আগের মতোই সোনার ফসল ঘরে তুলেছেন চাষিরা। এবছর প্রথম উৎপাদিত সেই ফসল দিয়ে মাতৃ আরাধনার জন্য প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছেন সিঙ্গুরের বেড়াবেড়ি গ্রামের মানুষ। ইতিমধ্যেই গ্রামের শীতলামাতা শক্তি সংঘের উদ্যোগে একটি কাল্পনিক মন্দিরের আদলে মণ্ডপ গড়ে তোলার কাজ চলছে। টাটাদের কারখানার জন্য জমি দখলের আগের দিনগুলোর মতোই পুজোর কটা দিন নতুন পোশাকে নিজেদের সাজিয়ে আনন্দোৎসবে মেতে ওঠার প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে সিঙ্গুর।

বেড়াবেড়ি গ্রামে প্রায় ২৬০টি পরিবারের বসবাস। জমি অধিগ্রহণের আগে ধুমধাম করে এখানে থিমের দুর্গাপুজো হত। ২০০৬ সালে পুজোর আগেই সিঙ্গুরে টাটাদের জন্য জমি অধিগ্রহণের প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়। পুজোর আগেই আন্দোলনের সময়ে ২৫ সেপ্টেম্বর রাতে বিডিও অফিসে আলো নিভিয়ে দিয়ে নির্বিচারে লাঠিপেটা করে পুলিশ। পুজোর আগে জমি হাতছাড়া হওয়ায় গ্রামের মানুষের সব অভিমান গিয়ে পড়েছিল মা দুর্গার উপরে। তাই জমি ফিরে না পাওয়া পর্যন্ত পুজো করবেন না বলে শপথ নিয়েছিলেন সিঙ্গুরের বেড়াবেড়ি গ্রামের অনিচ্ছুক চাষিরা। সেই শপথ বজায় রেখে পুজোর সময়ে নতুন পোশাক, ঢাকের কাঠি, আলোর রোশনাই ও আতসবাজি থেকে নিজেদের সরিয়ে রেখেছিলেন গ্রামের মানুষ।

বেড়াবেড়ি দুর্গাপুজো কমিটির অন্যতম সদস্য তথা জেলা পরিষদের বন ও ভূমি কর্মাধ্যক্ষ মানিক দাস বলেন, জমি জোর করে নেওয়ার পর প্রথমে অভিমানে পুজো বন্ধ করে দিয়েছিলাম। কিন্তু, পরে দু’বছর ধরে অনাড়ম্বরভাবে পুজো করে মায়ের কাছে জমি ফেরত পাওয়ার আবেদন করেছি। গ্রামের মানুষের সেই আবেদনে মা সাড়া দিয়েছেন। জমি ফেরত পাওয়ার পর আলু, সরষে, ধান, পিয়াজসহ বিভিন্ন ধরনের ফসল আমরা ঘরে তুলেছি। তাই এবার আমরা ফিরে পাওয়া জমিতে ফলানো সোনার ফসল দিয়েই মায়ের পুজোর প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছি। পুজো কমিটির সভাপতি সহদেব দাস বলেন, আন্দোলনের আগে আমরা যেভাবে পুজো করতাম, এবার গ্রামে উৎসবের সেই মেজাজ ফিরিয়ে আনার চেষ্টা করছি। গ্রামের বাসিন্দা পারমিতা দাস বলেন, মা আমাদের কাতর মিনতিতে সাড়া দিয়েছেন বলেই আমরা জমির পাশাপাশি ক্ষতিপূরণের টাকাও পেয়েছি। তাই ফিরে পাওয়া জমির প্রথম ফসল দিয়ে পুজো দেওয়ার জন্য টাকা তুলে রেখেছি।

Bengal Govt brings special food distribution scheme for the festive season

The Bengal Government has brought good news for the people of the state. The Food and Supplies Department has announced a special distribution scheme on the occasion of the major festivals of Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhat Puja.

According to the scheme drawn up, beneficiaries and families receiving special benefits from the State Government would receive the following additionally:

• 1 litre mustard oil at Rs 91.50 per litre
• 1 litre rice bran oil at Rs 79.50 per litre
• 500 gram subsidised flour (maida) at Rs 22 per kilogram
• 500 gram subsidised sugar at Rs 38.50 per kilogram

The distribution would be carried out in two phases, in accordance with the dates of the festivals – from September 15 to 27, and from October 11 to 25.

24-hour control room to be set up at Nabanna during Durga Puja

To address any untoward, or otherwise, situation during Durga Puja, the Bengal Government has decided to set up a 24-hour control room at the state secretariat, Nabanna.

The control room will operate from September 26 (Shashthi) to October 5 (Lakshmi Puja). The police will also set up a control room at Nabanna.

The number to be dialled is (033) 22143526. Anyone can call up to inform about any incident. Immediate action would be taken.

The State Government’s control room would be headed by a joint secretary-level officer and an officer from the State Disaster Management Department.

পুজোয় নবান্নে কন্ট্রোল রুম

পুজোয় যে কোনও ধরনের অপ্রীতিকর পরিস্থিতিতে দ্রুত ব্যাবস্থা নিতে নবান্নে ২৪ ঘণ্টার কন্ট্রোল রুম খোলার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার।

ষষ্ঠী থেকে লক্ষ্মীপুজো পর্যন্ত বিপর্যয় মোকাবিলা দপ্তরের এই বিশেষ কন্ট্রোল রুম কাজ করবে। পাশাপাশি পুলিশেরও একটি বিশেষ কন্ট্রোল রুম নবান্নে চালু থাকবে।

সমস্যায় পড়লে যে কেউ ২২১৪ ৩৫২৬ নম্বরে ফোন করে তা জানাতে পারবেন।

অভিযোগ জানার পরে দ্রুত ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে বলে বিপর্যয় মোকাবিলা দপ্তর থেকে জানানো হয়েছে। একজন যুগ্মসচিব পর্যায়ের অফিসার এবং একজন বিপর্যয় মোকাবিলা দপ্তরের অফিসারের অধীনে কাজ করবে এই কন্ট্রোল রুম।

Media Centre & work station for journalists at Press Club Kolkata

A Media Centre and work stations for journalists were inaugurated at the Press Club, Kolkata on Saturday evening by IT minister Bratya Basu. Three sixth generation computers and a laptop have been provided by the Information Technology Department of the Bengal Government for the centre.

Press Club president Snehashis Sur said that even though mobile phones had become an important means of communication, the Media Centre would still be of immense help to newspersons on the move for filing their stories, especially those who are unable to carry laptops wherever they go. “The club is located right next to the central business district of the city. The Media Centre would be very convenient for them to drop by and send their stories and articles instead of going all the way to their offices to do so,” he said.

The minister had been requested by the club secretary to assist in setting up the Media Centre when he had visited the Press Club in May this year to speak at a workshop on Digital Journalism. He had then assured the help of the IT Department towards this. “Now, with this inauguration, the Government has given a Puja gift to the Press Club,” a club official said.
At present, the club relies on a broadband connection for its internet needs. But a strong wi-fi network would be set up soon. The centre would also be open to photographers who need to send news pictures quickly.

If required, journalists would also be able to refer to all newspapers, files of which are kept at the club, while writing their stories. The Media Centre would generally be open from 2pm till 9.30pm, the club president said.

কলকাতা প্রেস ক্লাবে উদ্বোধন হল মিডিয়া সেন্টার ও ওয়ার্ক স্টেশনের

রাজ্যের তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি মন্ত্রী ব্রাত্য বসু কলকাতা প্রেস ক্লাবে সাংবাদিকদের জন্য একটি মিডিয়া সেন্টার ও ওয়ার্ক স্টেশনের উদ্বোধন করেন।

তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি দপ্তরের পক্ষ থেকে তিনটি ‘sixth generation’ কম্পিউটার ও একটি ল্যাপটপ প্রদান করা হয় ওই সেন্টারকে। এই মিডিয়া সেন্টারটি খোলা থাকবে দুপুর ২টো থেকে রাত ৯:৩০ পর্যন্ত। এই মুহূর্তে প্রেস ক্লাবে আছে ব্রড ব্যান্ড পরিষেবা; খুব শীঘ্রই ওয়াই ফাই পরিষেবা চালু হবে এখানে।

প্রেস ক্লাবের সভাপতি বলেন, যদিও আজকের যুগে মোবাইল ফোন যোগাযোগের অন্যতম মাধ্যম, তবুও এই মিডিয়া সেন্টারটি সাংবাদিকদের খুব কাজে দেবে। যাদের কাছে সর্বক্ষণ ল্যাপটপ থাকেনা, তারা অনায়াসেই এই সেন্টারে বসে তাদের খবর ফাইল করতে পারবেন।

তিনি বলেন, “এই ক্লাবটি শহরের প্রাণকেন্দ্রে অবস্থিত। এই মিডিয়া সেন্টারে এসে সাংবাদিকরা খুব সহজেই তাদের খবর লিখে অফিসে পাঠিয়ে দিতে পারবেন।”

গত মে মাসে ডিজিটাল সাংবাদিকতার ওপর কর্মশালায় যোগ দিতে যখন তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি মন্ত্রী প্রেস ক্লাবে যান, ক্লাবের সেক্রেটারি তখন এই মিডিয়া সেন্টার তৈরী করতে সহযোগিতার আবেদন রাখেন মন্ত্রীর কাছে। মন্ত্রীও আশ্বাস দিয়েছিলেন।

State Govt renovates cold storage for flowers

The Bengal Government’s renovating the cold storage for flowers in Panskura has turned out to be a big boon for flower traders – growers as well as sellers – of south Bengal. Flower growers mainly from the three districts of Howrah and Purba and Paschim Medinipur store their yields here.

The renovation of the cold storage was completed recently and was inaugurated on September 15. The State Government has delivered on its promise of completing the renovation before Durga Puja. Modern electronic gadgets and air-conditioning have been installed.

It is of five metric tonne capacity and acts as a lifeline for hundreds of flower growers in the region. Before a big festival like Durga Puja, when the requirement of flowers goes up manifold, this renovation has made flower growers happy. Flowers not stored properly and going bad results in the rise of price.

Though there are private multi-purpose cold storages for storing flowers, many growers prefer the government’s one because of the bare minimum cost.

ফুলের হিমঘরের আধুনিকীকরণ করল রাজ্য সরকার

দক্ষিণ বঙ্গের ফুলের ব্যাবসায়ীদের জন্য সুখবর। পাঁশকুড়ায় যে ফুলের হিমঘরটি আছে, তার সংস্কার ও আধুনিকীকরণ করল রাজ্য সরকার। মূলত এখানে হাওড়া, পূর্ব ও পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের ফুলচাষিরা এখানে তাঁদের ফুল রাখেন।

১৫ই সেপ্টেম্বর এই হিমঘরের নবরুপে উন্মোচন হয়। সরকার কথা দিয়েছিল দুর্গা পুজোর আগেই এই সংস্কার ও আধুনিকীকরণ শেষ করবে, কথা রেখেছে। আধুনিক ইলেক্ট্রনিক গেজেট ও শীতাতপ ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে।

এই হিমঘরটির ক্ষমতা পাঁচ মেট্রিক টনের ও এই হিমঘরের ওপর নির্ভর করে কয়েকশো ফুলচাষি। দুর্গাপুজোর সময় যখন ফুলের চাহিদা ভীষণ বেড়ে যায়, ফুলের হিমঘরের এই ধরনের আধুনিকীকরণ নিঃসন্দেহে ফুলচাষিদের অনেকটা আনন্দ দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি নিশ্চিন্তও করেছে। ফুল ঠিকমতো রাখা না হলে দাম বাড়বে খুব বেশী হারে।

বেসরকারি ফুলের হিমঘর থাকলেও চাষিরা সরকারি হিমঘরেই তাঁদের উৎপাদিত ফুল রাখতে চায় কম খরচের জন্য। তাই, এই মুহূর্তে পাঁশকুড়ার সরকারি হিমঘরটি আধুনিক সাজে সেজে খুবই উপকার হল চাষিদের।
