The Bengal Government is making every effort to promote the state on the back of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup. With the world’s attention on the city, this is the best time to promote Kolkata and Bengal. The government is using both online and offline methods to promote the state.
For example, the hashtag #BiswaBanglayBiswaCup is being extensively used on Twitter, Facebook and other online platforms to promote the government’s activities. All advertising, both online and offline, regarding the World Cup has the tagline ‘Biswa Banglay Biswa Cup’, along with the logo of FIFA.

Teasers have been put up across the city, with the tagline ‘Ebar Khela, Jombe Bangla’, coined by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself, the big football fan that she is. The State Government has been spreading the brand, Biswa Bangla, again a conception of Mamata Banerjee, across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and across the State Government’s websites.

A separate website has been created on the World Cup and related facilities like health, police, etc. A YouTube channel has been set up where a music video specially created for the World Cup by the State Government has been uploaded, whose lyrics and music are both by the Chief Minister. The video has been a massive hit, as proved by the number of clicks.

Needless to say, behind the planning and execution, the hand of the Chief Minister was everywhere. Mamata Banerjee took an active part in the whole planning for the mega tournament and was intent on making Kolkata the best host city in every way.

ফুটবল ঘিরে বাংলার চোখ ডিজিটালে

 

বাংলাকে বিশ্বের দরবারে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করতে ‘বিশ্ব বাংলা’ ব্র্যান্ড তো ছিলই। সেই সঙ্গে যুব বিশ্বকাপের আগমনে এখন সরগরম কলকাতা। রাজ্য সরকারের নতুন স্লোগানও তাই দুইয়ের বন্ধনে নজরকাড়া— #বিশ্ববাংলায়বিশ্বকাপ!

সামনে ‘হ্যাশট্যাগ’-এর অর্থ সহজবোধ্য। এই আধুনিক দুনিয়ায় বিপণনের কোনও দরজাই বন্ধ রাখতে চায় না রাজ্য সরকার। সেখানে প্রধান পথই ‘ডিজিটাল’। লক্ষ্য একটাই— যুব বিশ্বকাপে রাজ্যকে তার শতাব্দী প্রাচীন যাবতীয় ঐশ্বর্য-সহ দুনিয়ার সামনে এক ‘ক্লিকে’ হাজির করা।

তাই হ্যাশট্যাগ-স্লোগান যেমন আছে, তেমনই আছে শহরজুড়ে বিশ্বকাপের ‘টিজার’। পুজো পর্যন্ত যা ছিল, ‘গৌরবের শহরে গর্বিত আমরা’। বিশ্বকাপের ঢাকে কাঠি পড়তেই তা পাল্টে হয়েছে— ‘এবার খেলা, জমবে বাংলা’। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর লেখা এই টিজার নিয়ে জোর প্রচার শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছে রাজ্য জুড়ে।

ফুটবল-উৎসবে যোগ দিতে বাংলায় আসার আগেই বিশ্ববাসী যাতে জমাটি আবহের আঁচ পেতে পারে, তার জন্য ওয়েবসাইট, ইউটিউব, টুইটার, ফেসবুক, ইনস্টাগ্রাম— সর্বত্রই ‘বিশ্ব বাংলা’ ব্র্যান্ড ছড়িয়ে দিয়েছে রাজ্য।

ওয়েবসাইটে মিলছে বাংলার ফুটবল, ঐতিহ্য, পর্যটন, খাবারের হদিস। সেই সঙ্গে পুলিশ, চিকিৎসা-সহ জরুরি পরিষেবা সংক্রান্ত তথ্যও। চাইলে এই ওয়েবসাইট থেকেই খেলার টিকিট কাটতে পারেন দর্শকেরা।

সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া প্ল্যাটফর্মে জোর প্রচারের পাশাপাশি ক্রীড়াপ্রেমীদের আকর্ষণ করতে চলছে নানা প্রতিযোগিতাও।

Three more blood banks are going to be set up by the Bengal Government – two in south Bengal and one in the north. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would inaugurate all three on October 11.

The blood banks are being set up in Panskura in Purba Medinipur district, Gopiballavpur in Paschim Medinipur district and Chanchal in Malda district. All the three are located inside multi super-speciality hospitals. These hospitals are a brainchild of Mamata Banerjee for creating a high-quality health infrastructure in her beloved Bengal.

With the completion of these three, the number of State Government-run blood banks has risen from 70, and combined with private blood banks, to 131.

To complement the demand for blood components, the government has set up four more platelet separation units – at Nadia and Asansol District Hospitals, Cooch Behar MGN Hospital and Murshidabad Medical College Hospital. This would take the number of component separation units in State Government hospitals to 17.

Nowadays, doctors often prescribe separate blood components like platelets, plasma, etc. for patients as not always are all components of blood required. This also saves precious units of blood, which can be used only when required.

There are two main ways to increase the number of units of blood components available – to organise regular blood donation camps (which the Bengal Government conducts regularly, and also, under active encouragement by the government, do various clubs, doctors’ and other associations, etc.) and to separate components from 80 per cent of the blood collected.

According to State Health Department officials, plans are on to put up display boards at all government blood banks with information on the number of units of blood and blood components at the current time.

 

রাজ্যে চালু হচ্ছে তিনটি নতুন সরকারি ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক, সঙ্গে আরও চারটি প্লেটলেট পৃথকীকরণ ইউনিট

রাজ্যে চালু হচ্ছে আরও ৩ টি সরকারি ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক। এগুলি হচ্ছে পাঁশকুড়া, চাঁচোল এবং গোপীবল্লভপুরে। এই ৩ টি জায়গাতেই সুপার স্পেশালিটি হাসপাতালে এই ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক চালু হবে।

আগামী ১১ অক্টোবর এই ৩ টি ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্কের উদ্বোধন করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এগুলি চালু হলে রাজ্যে ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্কের সংখ্যা ৬৭ থেকে বেড়ে হবে ৭০। সরকারি-বেসরকারি মিলিয়ে এই সংখ্যাটি বেড়ে হবে ১৩১টি।

শুধু ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্কই নয়, রাজ্যে প্লেটলেট এবং বিভিন্ন ধরনের রক্তের উপাদানের চাহিদা মেটাতে আরও ৪ টি রক্তের উপাদান পৃথকীকরণের ব্যবস্থা বা কম্পোনেন্ট সেপারেশন ইউনিট চালু হচ্ছে। এগুলি হবে নদীয়া ও আসানসোল জেলা হাসপাতাল, কোচবিহার এমজিএন হাসপাতাল এবং মুর্শিদাবাদ মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে। এগুলি চালু হলে রাজ্যে সবশুদ্ধ ১৭ টি জায়গায় রক্তের উপাদান পৃথকীকরণের ব্যবস্থা থাকবে।

সাধারণ মানুষ যাতে প্রতি মুহূর্তে রক্ত, প্লেটলেট এবং অন্যান্য উপাদানগুলির স্টক সম্পর্কে জানতে পারেন, সেজন্য প্রতিটি সরকারি ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্কের সামনে ডিসপ্লে বোর্ড চালু করতে হবে।

Many of the idols created for Durga Puja are works of exquisite art and hence, worthy of preservation. Taking this into consideration, the State Government, as well as some private individuals and organisations, are going to turn some of the best Durga idols of Kolkata and its suburbs into permanent exhibits.

The idol carved out of mahogany wood by the famous artiste, Bhabatosh Sutar, created for Chetla Agrani, will be permanently preserved at Eco Park by the State Government. This is being done at Eco Park for the last few years.

Bhabatosh Sutar is himself involved in a preservation. The 6 feet-tall terracotta idol of Baidyabagan Nabapally at Singhi More in Amtala, made in the traditional style by veteran artiste, Biswanath Kumbhakar of Panchmura in Bankura, is going to be preserved at the artistes’ conclave, Chander Haat, at Barisha, on the outskirts of Kolkata.

Another venue for preservation is the Phire Dekha (meaning ‘looking back’) gallery beside Rabindra Sarovar Lake. Since the gallery is being renovated, no clay idols have been chosen for preservation this year. instead four fibre glass idols are being preserved – the ones exhibited at Jagat Mukherjee Park, Shiv Mandir, Buroshibtala and Barisha Udayan Pally.

 

সংরক্ষিত হচ্ছে সেরা কয়েকটি দুর্গামূর্তি

সরকারি ও ব্যাক্তিগত উদ্যোগে সংরক্ষিত হচ্ছে শহর কলকাতা ও শহরতলির কয়েকটি নজরকাড়া প্রতিমা।

পরিত্যক্ত মেহগনি গাছের গুঁড়ি খোদাই করে চেতলা অগ্রণীর জন্য দুর্গামূর্তি গড়েছিলেন শিল্পী ভবতোষ সুতার। রেড রোডের কার্নিভালে অংশ নেওয়ার পর মূর্তিটি নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় ইকো পার্কে। সেখানেই স্থায়ী ঠিকানা কাঠের দুর্গামূর্তিটির। এই মূর্তির স্রষ্টা ব্যক্তিগত উদ্যোগে সংরক্ষণ করছেন টেরাকোটার এক দুর্গামূর্তি।

আমতলা সিংহী মোড়ের বৈদ্যবাগান নবপল্লীবাসীবৃন্দের পুজোর জন্য প্রথাগত পদ্ধতিতে দুর্গামূর্তিটি গড়েছেন বাঁকুড়া পাঁচমুড়ার প্রবীণ শিল্পী বিশ্বনাথ কুম্ভকার। প্রায় ৬ফুট উঁচু টেরাকোটার মূর্তিটি বড়িশায় শিল্পীদের সংগঠন চাঁদের হাটের কর্মশালায় স্থায়ী ভাবে স্থাপন করা হবে বলে তিনি জানিয়েছেন।

গত ক’বছরের মতো এবারও রবীন্দ্র সরোবর লাগোয়া গ্যালারিতে সংরক্ষিত হচ্ছে কলকাতার নজরকাড়া কয়েকটি প্রতিমা। ‘ফিরে দেখা’ গ্যালারিটিকে বর্তমানে নবরূপে সাজাবার কাজ চলছে। সেজন্য সম্ভবত এবছর কোনও মাটির প্রতিমা সংরক্ষিত হচ্ছে না। চারটি ফাইবারের দুর্গামূর্তি সংরক্ষণের জন্য বাছাই করা হয়েছে। জগৎ মুখার্জি পার্ক, শিবমন্দির, বুড়োশিবতলা ও বড়িশা উদয়ন পল্লীর প্রতিমা চারটি এখানে সংরক্ষণের জন্য প্রাথমিক ভাবে নির্বাচিত হয়েছে।

According to scriptures, Durga Puja may have ended on Dashami but the Bishorjon Carnival brought the festival in Kolkata to a glorious end on October 3 – in fact, more than one crore people watched it online across the world, which is a big achievement, plus of course the crores who watched the live broadcast on television and the few hundred who watched it from the stands.

The best Durga Pujas of Kolkata and its suburbs had their idols, and portions of the themes and decorations as well, loaded onto trailers as tableaux and paraded along Red Road to the rapturous applause of a huge crowd, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and some of the well-known personalities of Bengal from field of culture.

The carnival is being organised by the Bengal Government since 2016 as a way to popularise Durga Puja across the world. The carnival is slowly turning out to be a favourite among foreign tourists interested in the culture and rituals of Bengal.

This year, 66 Durga Puja organisers participated, up from 39 last year. The history and culture of Bengal and unity in diversity – which has been an ever-present aspect of Bengal over the ages – as well as current issues and aspects of the State Government’s work were on display through the numerous tableaux.

Chhau dance, FIFA Under-17 World Cup, Kanyashree, Safe Drive Save Life, Sabuj Sathi, baul singers belting out their mesmerising numbers and many other themes were on display.

Something which grabbed the attention of everyone this year was the presence of women dhakis (‘drummers’) dressed in wonderful sarees with almost all the tableaux.

রেড রোডে বিশ্বের সেরা পুজো কারনিভ্যালের সাক্ষী রইল ১ কোটি মানুষ। রেড রোড জুড়ে বসার জায়গা উপচে উঠে, ওয়েবকাস্টিং এবং টেলিভিশন সম্প্রচারের মাধ্যমে বিশ্বের নানান প্রান্তে থাকা কোটি কোটি মানুষ ওইদিন উপভোগ করলেন বাংলার বিসর্জন কারনিভ্যাল। রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে দ্বিতীয়বার অনুষ্ঠিত হওয়া এই কার্নিভ্যালকে লেন্সে বন্দী করতে অসংখ্য বিদেশী পর্যটক, ফোটোগ্রাফার ভিড় করেছিলেন রেড রোডে।

সেখানে বাংলার ৬৬টি সেরা পুজোর উদ্যোক্তারা তাদের পুজো পরিক্রমাকে শৈল্পিক ধাঁচে কার্নিভ্যালে অংশগ্রহণ করে বিশ্ববাসীর কাছে বাংলার সর্বধর্ম সমন্বয়ের ছবিটিই তুলে ধরলেন। তুলে ধরলেন বাংলার ইতিহাস, বাংলার সংস্কৃতি, বাংলার ঐতিহ্যকে।

বিশ্বের সেরা জনপরিষেবামূলক প্রকল্প কন্যাশ্রী রাষ্ট্রসংঘের মঞ্চে সেরার শিরোপা পেয়েছে। কন্যাশ্রী বা অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ যুব ফুটবল বিশ্বকাপের ট্যাবলো থেকে শুরু করে ছৌ নাচ বা বাউল সঙ্গীত, সব মিলিয়ে রেড রোডে পুজো কার্নিভ্যাল বিশ্বের সেরা কার্নিভ্যালের শিরোপা ছিনিয়ে নিল। যার একমাত্র কৃতিত্ব প্রাপ্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

অনুষ্ঠান শেষে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ফেসবুকে লেখেন, ‘গতবারের সাফল্যের পর এবারও রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে ভালো কার্নিভ্যাল হয়েছে। রাজ্য সরকারের কন্যাশ্রী ও সবুজসাথীর সঙ্গে যুব বিশ্বকাপ নিয়ে পুজো কমিটিগুলির ট্যাবলোর থিম খুব ভালো লেগেছে। বহু বিদেশী পর্যটক যে বাংলার কৃষ্টি, সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্যকে চাক্ষুষ করতে পেরেছে কার্নিভ্যালের দৌলতেই।’

এবারের কার্নিভ্যালের দেখার মতো ছিল মহিলা ঢাকির সংখ্যা। প্রায় প্রতিটি কমিটির সঙ্গেই তাদের দেখা যায়। মহিলা ঢাকিরা শাড়িতে সেজে জমিয়ে দেন রেড রোডের প্রাঙ্গন। কন্যাশ্রীর বিশ্বজয়ের ট্যাবলো প্রত্যক্ষ করল বিশ্ববাসী। ট্যাবলোতে সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ ট্যাবলো সবার নজর কাড়ে।

After the grand success of the Bengal Government-organised immersion carnival, named  Bishorjon  Carnival, on Red Road in Kolkata over two years, the government has decided to hold similar carnivals in every district from the next year.

According to State Government sources, many Durga Puja organisers from the districts had approached the government for a place in the Red Road carnival. But it was not possible to accommodate idols of all the Puja organisers held on October 3.

As a result, to give a similar platform to the award-winning Durga Pujas of the districts, the State Government has decided to organise immersion carnivals in every district. The best 25 in each district will be allowed to participate in the respective carnivals of the districts.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had started the Bishorjon Carnival in 2016. The carnival consists of tableaux of the best Durga Pujas – idols, some of the items of the decorations and dhakis (drummers) loaded on to trailers – going in a procession past a large gallery of spectators on the way to immersion.

The district authorities will be identifying suitable stretches of roads where the processions can be conducted without causing much inconvenience to common people. Also, like on Red Road, they will be decorating the roads using special lighting arrangements and flowers.

This year, idols of three best Durga Puja organisers from Howrah and one from North 24 Parganas took part in the Red Road carnival.

মিলেছে অভূতপূর্ব সাফল্য, এবার সব জেলায় কলকাতার ধাঁচে কার্নিভাল

অভূতপূর্ব সাফল্য ও গণ উন্মাদনার সাক্ষী রইল শহর কলকাতা। রাজ্যে দুর্গাপুজো কার্নিভালের সেই উজ্জ্বল কৃতিত্বকে মাথায় রেখে সরকার এবার প্রতি জেলায় পুজো কার্নিভাল চালুর কথা ভাবছে। এ ব্যাপারে প্রাথমিক চিন্তাভাবনাও সারা।

প্রশাসন সূত্রের খবর, কার্নিভালের জন্য প্রতি জেলার সেরা ২৫টি পুজোকে বেছে নেওয়া হবে। জেলা প্রশাসনের সদর দপ্তর অর্থাৎ, জেলাশাসক ও পুলিশ সুপারের যৌথ উদ্যোগে এই আয়োজন হবে। শোভাযাত্রার জন্য বিসর্জনের ঘাট পর্যন্ত নির্দিষ্ট রুটও বেছে নেওয়া হবে। সেই পথেই হবে কার্নিভাল। পুজোর সঙ্গে জড়িয়ে স্থানীয় আবেগকে গুরুত্ব দিয়ে সেই এলাকা ছুঁয়েই হবে প্রতিমা বিসর্জন। তার জন্য জেলা সদর দপ্তরেই আবেদন করতে হবে পুজো কমিটিগুলিকে।

মঙ্গলবার সন্ধ্যায় ভাসানের শোভাযাত্রার অসম্ভব সাফল্যে খুশি হয়ে রেড রোডে বসেই প্রশাসনের এহেন পরিকল্পনায় একপ্রকার সিলমোহর দিয়ে দিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সেখান থেকেই জেলা প্রশাসনের কাছে প্রাথমিক নির্দেশ পৌঁছে গিয়েছে।

কলকাতার পুজো কার্নিভাল দ্বিতীয় বছরে পড়ল। যত দিন যাচ্ছে, তার জৌলুস তত বাড়ছে। বিদেশি অতিথিরা পর্যন্ত তা চাক্ষুষ করতে পাড়ি জমাচ্ছেন দুর্গপাড়ের রাস্তায়। যে উৎসবে দেখে চোখ ঝলসে গিয়েছে জাপান, বার্সার ফুটবলপ্রেমী নাগরিকদের। অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপ ফুটবলের প্রাক্কালে বিশ্বের ক্যামেরাবন্দি হয়ে গিয়েছে বাংলার বহু শিল্পীর কাজ।

Haringhata Meat, run by the Department of Animal Husbandry of the Bengal Government, set up stalls at Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata to sell healthy snacks. Popular food items like chicken cutlet, kebabs, nuggets, chicken sausage, chicken popcorn, etc were sold at attractive prices.

The stalls were a big hit with people. The high-quality food at affordable prices attracted a lot of customers. So much so that Haringhata Meat made sales worth Rs 8 lakh. This is the first time that the organisation set up stalls during Durga Puja.

A total of 13 stalls were opened at 13 big-budget Pujas including at Naktala Udayan Sangha, Suruchi Sangha, Tala Park Puja Committee and Baghbazar Sarbojanin.

In recent years, Haringhata Meat has opened numerous outlets all over the state. Some are run directly by the organisation while most are rune on a franchisee basis, though under strict supervision by Haringhata Meat.

Ready-made food items have already become a rage at ‘Haringhata Meat’ outlets in the city. Apart from raw meat, snacks like chicken cutlet or kebabs are popular among people at these outlets.

পুজোয় প্রথম স্টল খুলেই ৮লক্ষ টাকার বিক্রি হরিণঘাটা মিটের

এবার পুজোয় মণ্ডপে মণ্ডপে দর্শনার্থীদের রসনাতৃপ্তি করে বাজিমাত করল ‘হরিণঘাটা মিট’। একাধিক পুজো মণ্ডপে প্রথমবার স্টল দিয়ে ফুল মার্ক্স পেয়েছে রাজ্য সরকারের এই সংস্থা। ষষ্ঠী থেকে দশমী পর্যন্ত স্টলগুলিতে যা বিক্রি হয়েছে তা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ প্রানিসম্পদ উন্নয়ন নিগমের কর্তারাও আশা করেননি।

নিগম সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, পুজোর আগে ঠিক হয়েছিল হরিণঘাটা মিটের পক্ষ থেকে কলকাতার বেশ কয়েকটি বিগ বাজেটের পুজো মণ্ডপে এবার স্টল দেওয়া হবে। কোনও ফ্র্যাঞ্চাইজি নয়, নিগমের কর্মীরা এই স্টলগুলি চালাবে বলে ঠিক হয়। সেইমতো ১৩টি পুজো মণ্ডপে স্টল খোলা হয়। এই ১৩টি মণ্ডপের ১৩টি স্টল থেকে পাঁচদিনে বিক্রি হয়েছে ৮ লক্ষ টাকার।

হরিণঘাটা মিটের কলকাতাসহ রাজ্য জুড়ে অসংখ্য আউটলেট রয়েছে। নিগমের কয়েকটি নিজস্ব রয়েছে। এছাড়া ফ্র্যাঞ্চাইজির মাধ্যমে অধিকাংশ আউটলেটগুলি চলছে। এইসব আউটলেটে প্রসেস করা কাঁচা মাংসের পাশাপাশি প্রসেস করা কাটলেট, সসেজ, নাগেটস, কাবাব পাওয়া যায়। ক্রেতারা এইসব জিনিস কিনে নিয়ে বাড়িতে ভেজে খেতে পারেন।

পুজোর সময় নিগমের দেওয়া স্টলগুলিতে দর্শনার্থীদের রসনাতৃপ্তি ঘটাতেই স্টলের মধ্যে ভেজে দেওয়ার ব্যবস্থা করা হয়। ঠিক হয় এই স্টলগুলিতে অন্যান্য খাবারের পাশাপাশি স্যান্ডুইচ, কোয়েলের বিরিয়ানিও রাখা হবে। তাই বহু দর্শনার্থী ঠাকুর দেখার পর পছন্দের ডিশ খেতে এই স্টলে এসে ভিড় জমিয়েছিলেন।

The Bengal Government is going to start the construction of three bridges. Two bridges would span the Ganga and another would be over the Ajay River. The bridges would lead to improved cultural as well as trade ties.

The ones over the Ganga would connect Shantipur to Kalna and Budge Budge to Fuleshwar.

The former would also lead to connecting Shantipur and Kalna to Saptagram, Triveni, Katwa and other places along that route. The cultural heritage of Shantipur is well-known: there is the Shantipur saree as well as the Rash Mela, held every year.

Another bridge would be built over the Ajay River – it would be called Kenduli Setu. The river runs for some distance along the border of Birbhum and Paschim Bardhaman. The bridge would connect Kenduli in Birbhum district at one end, and hence the name. Kenduli, like Shantipur, is also famous as the venue for a fair. Every year, on January 15, a huge fair is held in Kenduli, which attracts lakhs of people.

Thus we see that the bridges would connect places of cultural importance; hence, they would strengthen the tourism. Additionally, through the smoother and faster flow of people and goods, they would lead to improved trade.

 

গঙ্গায় ২টি ও অজয়ে ১টি সেতু তৈরি করবে রাজ্য সরকার

 

গঙ্গার ওপর এবার আরও একটি নতুন সেতু নির্মাণের কাজ শুরু করতে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার। শান্তিপুর থেকে কালনা পর্যন্ত হবে এই নতুন সেতু। অন্যদিকে বজবজ থেকে ফুলেশ্বর পর্যন্ত দ্বিতীয় সেতুটির ডিপিআর তৈরির কাজও শুরু হয়েছে বলে নবান্ন সূত্রে খবর।

শান্তিপুর থেকে কালনা প্রায় ১কিলোমিটার দৈর্ঘ্যের এই সেতুর ‘অ্যাপ্রোচ এরিয়া’ ধরে প্রায় পৌনে দুই কিলোমিটারের এই সেতু তৈরি করবে রাজ্য সরকার।

শান্তিপুর থেকে কালনার দুরত্ব এক সরল রেখায় মাপলে সাত কিলোমিটার। সময় কম লাগে বলে প্রচুর মানুষ সড়ক পথের বদলে জল পথেই বেশী যাতায়াত করে। ফেরি পরিষেবায় যাত্রী সংখ্যার চাপ প্রবল। এই ধরনের সমস্যার কথা মাথায় রেখে রাজ্য সরকার নতুন এই সেতু নির্মাণের পরিকল্পনা করেছে।

মূলত এই সেতু নির্মাণ হলে গঙ্গার ধার বরাবর সপ্তগ্রাম, ত্রিবেণী, কালনা ও কাটোয়া (এসটিকেকে) এক সঙ্গে যুক্ত করা যাবে শান্তিপুরের সঙ্গে। শান্তিপুরের সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য বহু আগে থেকে সুবিদিত। রাসের মেলায় বহু মানুষের সমাগম হয় এখানে। গঙ্গার দুই পারের এই সংযোগ গড়ে উঠলে ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য থেকে পর্যটন সব ক্ষেত্রেই উন্নয়ন হবে।

পাশাপাশি সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য ও পর্যটনের কথা মাথায় রেখে অজয় নদীর ওপর কেন্দুলি সেতু নির্মাণ করতে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার। প্রতি বছর ১৫ জানুয়ারি বীরভূমের কেন্দুলিতে বাউল মেলাকে কেন্দ্র করে লক্ষ লক্ষ মানুষের সমাগম হয়।

অজয় নদীর ওপর কেন্দুলি সেতু তৈরি করে বীরভূম ও বর্ধমানের মধ্যে সহজ যোগাযোগ গড়ে তুলতেই এই সেতু নির্মাণ করতে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার।

They have endured taunts, insults, threats and even physical attacks. Yet they never strayed from their path of working for the welfare of the girl child.

During the last two years, these ‘Kanyashree Yodhas’, or ‘Kanyashree warriors’, as they have been named, of Hariharpara in Murshidabad district have managed to stop 39 child marriages, and most of these children are now back in school.

These bravehearts are among the beneficiaries the of the Bengal Government’s landmark, internationally-feted Kanyashree Scheme, the brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

To celebrate their achievements, and to encourage more and more girls to emulate these brave Kanyashrees, the local panchayat samity has built a park specially for them. It has been named ‘Kanyashree Yoddha Park’, and is spread over 5,000 square metres.

It was inaugurated recently in the presence of 85 such ‘Kanyashree Yodhas’ and their guardians by the block development officer (BDO) of Hariharpara, who is the driving force behind this initiative.

Here, they would learn and practice karate, play football and do other physical activities. In the park, there is also a room with computers. It is meant to be a meeting room as well as a place for the girls to discuss and exchange news related to their activities and development from across the world through the internet.

 

কন্যাশ্রী যোদ্ধাদের জন্যই পার্ক মুর্শিদাবাদে

কোথাও জুটেছে গালি, কোথাও শারীরিক নিগ্রহ, কখনও পথে-ঘাটে হুমকি, কটূক্তি। ওরা হার মানেনি। দু’বছরে রুখেছে অন্তত ৩৯ জন নাবালিকার বিয়ে। যে মেয়েদের অনেকেই ফিরেএসেছে স্কুলে।
যাদের দৌলতে নাবালিকা বিয়ে রোখায় অন্যতম অগ্রণী মুর্শিদাবাদের হরিহরপাড়া, সেই কন্যাশ্রী যোদ্ধাদের জন্যই গড়া হল পার্ক। সেখানে তারা ক্যারাটে শিখবে, ফুটবল খেলবে, লাগোয়া ঘরে বসে বিনিময় করবে খবরাখবর, মিটিং করবে। কম্পিউটার ঘেঁটে জানবে দেশ-বিদেশের তথ্য, অনলাইন আবেদনও করতে পারবে।

হরিহরপাড়া ব্লক অফিসের সামনে পঞ্চায়েত সমিতির প্রায় পাঁচ হাজার বর্গমিটার জমি ঘিরে গড়ে তোলা সেই ‘কন্যাশ্রী যোদ্ধা পার্ক’-এর উদ্বোধন হল। ঘাসে ছাওয়া পার্ক ঘিরে রকমারি গাছ। পাঁচ জন বসতে পারে এমন ছাউনি দেওয়া আটটি বেঞ্চ চারদিকে ছড়ানো, সঙ্গে দোলনা। সকা‌ল থেকে বিকেল ৫টা পর্যন্ত এই পার্ক থাকবে কন্যাশ্রীদের দখলে।

উদ্বোধনে হাজির ছিল ৮৫ জন কন্যাশ্রী যোদ্ধা আর তাদের অভিভাবকেরা।

The State Tourism Department has decided to turn each of the well-known historical towns of Bengal into a ‘heritage city’.

Cooch Behar, with its royal palace and famous lake (Lal Dighi), and 2, with its cultural heritage linked to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, are first on the list.

The State Government has appointed IIT Kharagpur (for Cooch Behar) and IISER Shibpur (for Nabadwip) to prepare detailed project reports (DPR). The renovations and modernisations of the tourist sites and facilities would be taken up based on the DPRs.

Work is expected to begin this year itself. Among the areas to be looked into are the electricity and sewage systems of the places. Similar steps would be taken up gradually for the other famous places in the state.

পর্যটনে সুদিন আনতে ঐতিহ্যের শহরে রুপটান

মাথায় মহামহিম হিমালয়। পদতল ধুয়ে দিচ্ছে বঙ্গোপসাগর। এহেন প্রাকৃতিক ঐশ্বর্যের পশ্চিমবঙ্গে ছড়িয়ে আছে সাংস্কৃতিক আর ঐতিহাসিক সম্পদ। পর্যটন জোয়ার আনতে এ বার রুপটান পড়তে চলছে সেই সব ঐতিহ্যবাহী অঞ্চলে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্ধোপাধ্যায় ঠিক করেছেন ,পর্যটক টানতে রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন ঐতিহ্যবাহী শহরে সংরক্ষণ ও সংস্কারের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে। উত্তরে কোচবিহার এবং দক্ষিণে নবদ্বীপকে দিয়ে শুরু হচ্ছে সেই কাজ।

ব্রিটিশ আমলের বাংলার একমাত্র রাজন্যশাসিত রাজ্য কোচবিহারের অন্যতম ঐতিহ্য তার দিঘি ,প্রাসাদ ও বাড়ি।আর গৌড়ীয় সংস্কৃতির পীঠস্থান নবদ্বীপের ঐতিহ্য তার মন্দিরে ,তার চৈতন্যসংস্কৃতিতে। এসবই সংরক্ষণ করে দুই শহরের প্রাচীন রূপ ফিরিয়ে আনার কাজ করবে সরকার।

কি ভাবে তা করা হবে ,তার সবিস্তার রিপোর্ট তৈরির দায়িত্ব পেয়েছে আইআইটি খড়্গপুর এবং আইআইএসটি শিবপুর। প্রাথমিক ভাবে ঠিক হয়েছে ,ঐতিহ্যবাহী শহরের সার্থক রূপ দিতে মাটির তলা দিয়ে শহরের বিদ্যুতের সংযোগ এবং নিকাশির ব্যবস্থা হবে।

এর পর ধাপে ধাপে বিষ্ণুপুর-সহ ঐতিহ্যবাহী সব শহরকেই সংরক্ষণের আওতায় আনার পরিকল্পনা আছে।

A special procession of more than 60 Durga Puja committees who have won the Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman was organised today on Red Road on the way to the bisarjan, or immersion from 5 PM. The Carnival was live telecasted on Mamta Banerjee’s Facebook page.

This bisarjan carnival, initiated by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee last year, was a unique show that gave an opportunity to all to see the best pratimas at one place.

From the beautiful dance movements to the rhythmic beats of dhaks to the soul-stirring sounds of dhamsas and madals; from frames that captured Kolkata’s built heritage of a bygone era to the memories of the past – the bisarjan carnival on Red Road last year was a riot for the senses.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote on her Facebook page that:

” The unique Carnival after Durga Puja, the biggest festival of the world, was held today at Red Road, Kolkata.

This is being organised by our government for the second time after its phenomenal success last year.

Noted puja organisers with idols of Ma Durga took part in this colourful programme accompanied by beautiful processions depicting the rich cultural heritage of Bengal, the harmony and unity of Bengal, the pioneering state government schemes like Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, the forthcoming U-17 World Cup and many, many interesting themes.

Thousands and thousands of visitors along with dignitaries from all walks of life and distinguished guests from the country and abroad witnessed this spectacular event.

Millions of viewers all over the world also saw live streaming of the event on Facebook and online coverage.

রেড রোডে দুর্গা বিসর্জনের বর্ণাঢ্য শোভাযাত্রা

কলকাতার রাজপথে বিশ্ববাংলা শারদ সম্মান পুরস্কার জয়ী প্রায় ৬০টির ও বেশি দুর্গাপ্রতিমা বিসর্জনের এক বিরাট শোভাযাত্রার আয়োজন করা হল।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় এই অভূতপূর্ব শোভাযাত্রার আয়োজন করা হয়েছে গত বছর থেকে যাতে একই জায়গায় মানুষ এবারের সবকটি উত্কৃষ্ট প্রতিমা দেখার সুযোগ পান ও কার্নিভালের আমেজ উপভোগ করেন।

গতবছরের মতো এবছরেও এই শোভাযাত্রায় ছিল বিভিণ্ন নৃত্য, ঢাকের তালের সঙ্গে ছিল ধামসা-মাদল। কলকাতার আভিজাত্যের সঙ্গে ছিল অতীতের স্মৃতি। সব মিলিয়ে এই শোভাযাত্রাটি প্রাণোচ্ছল হয়ে উঠেছিল।
