To check the incidents of poaching in the forests of north Bengal, the state forest department is planning to provide special training to its employees conducting vigil.

The department will not only provide incentives to the people who will gather information on the poachers, but they will be also be given various prizes for their job.

The department has a plan to give special training to the forest protection committee members as well. The forest dwellers will be involved in the plan. Training would be given to the local villagers. The people who will be a part of the plan will be brought under a security cover apart from the monetary benefits.

উত্তরবঙ্গের জঙ্গলে চোরা শিকার রুখতে এক নতুন উদ্যোগ নিতে চলেছে রাজ্য বন দপ্তর। চোরা শিকার দমনে কর্মীদের প্রশিক্ষণ দেবে বন দপ্তর। স্থানীয় মানুষদের মধ্যে সচেতনতার প্রসারও করা হবে ।
যে সকল মানুষ চোরা-শিকারিদের ব্যাপারে তথ্যপ্রদান করতে পারবেন তাদের পুরস্কৃত করা হবে। আর্থিক পুরস্কার দেওয়ারও পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।
প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে বনরক্ষা কমিটির সদস্যদেরও। যারা চোরা-শিকারিদের ব্যাপারে তথ্যপ্রদান করতে পারবেন তাদের সুরক্ষার ব্যবস্থাও করবে বন দপ্তর।

The 150th birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita will be celebrated by the state government in a grand manner. The inaugural function was held at Sisir Mancha on Friday, where state Education minister Partha Chatterjee and president of Bagbazar Math Swami Nityamuktananda were present.

The state government has set up a committee, comprising dignitaries of Ramakrishna Math and Mission including general secretary Swami Suhitananda, assistant secretary Swami Suvirananda and Swami Suvakarananda for the celebrations.

It was Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who took special interest in acquiring and renovating the house of Sister Nivedita at 16 Bosepara Lane and hand it to Ramakrishna Sarada Math. The Chief Minister also acquired Roy Villa in Darjeeling, where Sister Nivedita died on October 13, 1911, and handed it over to Ramakrishna Mission.

A programme will be held at Bosepara Lane, where renovation of the building is being carried out in full swing. Noted personalities of the 19th century – from Tagore to Jagadish Chandra Bose, Aurobindo Ghosh to Gopal Krishna Gokhale – used to visit the house.

 

ভগিনী নিবেদিতার জন্ম সার্ধশতবর্ষ উদযাপনের সূচনা করল রাজ্য সরকার

আজ ভগিনী নিবেদিতার ১৫০ তম জন্ম শতবর্ষ উপলক্ষে শিশির মঞ্চে একটি অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করেছিল রাজ্য সরকার। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন রাজ্যের শিক্ষা মন্ত্রী পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায় এবং বাগবাজার মঠের সভাপতি স্বামী নিত্যামুক্তানন্দ।

ভগিনী নিবেদিতার জন্ম সার্ধশতবর্ষ উদযাপনের জন্য রাজ্য সরকার একটি কমিটি গঠন করেছে। এই কমিটিতে আছেন রামকৃষ্ণ মঠ এবং মিশনের জেনারেল সেক্রেটারি স্বামী সুহিতানন্দ, সহ সম্পাদক স্বামী শুভিরানন্দ এবং স্বামী শুভাকরনন্দ মহাশয় সহ অন্যান্য প্রতিনিধিরা।

মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগে ইতিমধ্যেই রাজ্য সরকার ভগিনী নিবেদিতার বোসপাড়া লেনের বাসস্থান সংস্কারের উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে। সেই বাড়িটি তুলে দেওয়া হয়েছে  রামকৃষ্ণ মিশন ও মঠকে। দার্জিলিঙের রায় ভিলা, যেখানে ভগিনী নিবেদিতা শেষ নিশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন, সেই বাড়িটিও তুলে দেওয়া হয় রামকৃষ্ণ মিশন ও মঠকে।

বোসপাড়া লেনে যেখানে ভবনের সংস্কারকাজ পুরোদমে চলছে সেখানেও একটি অনুষ্ঠান হবে।  উল্লেখ্য, ঊনবিংশ শতাব্দীর বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিত্ব – রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর থেকে জগদীশ চন্দ্র বসু, অরবিন্দ ঘোষ গোপালকৃষ্ণ গোখলে – সকলেরই এখানে যাতায়াত ছিল।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday sent out a message to all to maintain communal harmony especially during the festive days of Deepavali and Kali Puja. She was inaugurating Kali Puja across the city in the evening.

The Chief Minister said that one should keep in mind that Deepavali is the festival of lights that belong to culture. This is not the light that evolves when people are playing with fire, she reminded.

The Chief Minister reiterated that festivals cannot belong to a single religious community, nor does it have any colour of difference. A festival belongs to all, she said. A festival unites everyone, she said.

Incidentally, a few days back, the Chief Minister, during a press conference at Nabanna, had sent a message to the people of the State to counter divisive forces that are spreading seeds of discord to breach communal harmony in the State.

 

উ९সব মানবিকতা, সভ্যতা ও সংস্কৃতির রঙঃ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

মঙ্গলবার কালীপুজোর উদ্বোধন মঞ্চ থেকে সম্প্রীতির বার্তা দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বুধবার থেকেই তিনি উদ্বোধন শুরু করেছেন।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, দীপাবলি আলোর উ९সব। এই আলো মনের আলো, সংস্কৃতির আলো। এই আলো আগুন নিয়ে খেলা করার আলো নয়।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, “যে উ९সব কোন নির্দিষ্ট ধর্মের নয়, নির্দিষ্ট কোন রঙেরও নয়। উ९সবের অনেক রঙ আছে। এর মাধ্যমে সমাজের সর্বস্তরের সবধর্মের মানুষকে সামিল হয়। উ९সব সবাইকে মিলিত করে, এটি জীবনের উ९সব।বাংলা হচ্ছে সব ধর্মের মিলনের স্থান।”

উল্লেখ্য, কয়েক দিন আগেই  নবান্নে আয়োজিত এক সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, কেউ সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি লঙ্ঘন করতে চাইলে রাজ্য তা মোকাবিলা করতে প্রস্তুত।

“Ahare Bangla” – the biggest food festival in the country – recorded an unbelievable 1.5 lakh footfall in the past five days compared to that of 65,000 last year. The turnover during this period was Rs 2.5 crore which is double the amount earned last year from the festival.

The festival has become one of the most popular fair organised by the state government in Milan Mela Ground resulting in increase in footfall and quantum of business by manifold. Tuesday was the last day of the festival that had begun on October 21.

Last year the total footfall was around 65,000. This time it has gone up to around 1.5 lakh till Tuesday evening. At the same time, the total amount of sale in the festival had gone up to Rs 2.5 crore compared to that of Rs 1.25 crore in 2015.

It may be mentioned that the festival is one of the pet projects of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and she had inspired all the senior officials of the concerned departments to take necessary steps to make the festival more popular as it was not only for amusement of the people but it also provides a platform for good business to the people involved in food industry.

Many traders from the rural parts of the State, who participated in the festival, had got opening to initiate their business in the city and its adjoining areas with support of investors here.

This was the first time when a separate block has been created as “International Pavilion” where four countries China, Russia, Bangladesh and Bhutan had participated. There were some stalls in the food festival where there always used to be queue of people to take food from the counters. Thus based on popularity, three awards were given.

The award for “most innovative recipe” was given for a preparation called duck-a-salan and it was prepared by Sigree restaurant.

West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation had won the award for preparing the most popular food in the festival which is a duck roast and the All Fish Restaurant of West Bengal Fisheries Development Corporation (WBFDC) had received the award for the most popular restaurant in the festival. There always used to be queue of people in the restaurant of the WBFDC in the festival because of the “mouth watering” preparations it had served.

 

দ্বিতীয় বছরে জনপ্রিয়তার তুঙ্গে ‘আহারে বাংলা’

দেশের বৃহত্তম খাদ্য উত্সব ‘আহারে বাংলা’ এবার সব রেকর্ডকে ছাপিয়ে গেল। গত বছর যেখানে জনসমাগম হয়েছিল ৬৫ হাজার, এবারে সেখানে ৫ দিনে জনসমাগম হল ১.৫ লক্ষ মানুষের। এবারের উত্সবে প্রায় ২.৫ কোটি টাকার মত বাণিজ্য হয়েছে যেটি আগের বছরের দ্বিগুন।

মিলন মেলায় অনুষ্ঠিত রাজ্য সরকারের পরিচালিত এই মেলাটি মাত্র এই দুবছরেই শ্রেষ্ঠ মেলার একটিতে পরিণত হয়েছে, শুধুমাত্র জনসমাগমের দিক দিয়ে না, ব্যবসার দিক দিয়েও।

প্রসঙ্গত বলা যেতে পারে এই মেলাটি মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর অন্যতম প্রিয় প্রকল্পের একটি। কারণ এর মাধ্যমে শুধু যে জনসমাগম বা মনোরঞ্জন হয় তাই নয় বরং খাদ্যশিল্পে জড়িয়ে থাকা একটি বিরাট অংশের মানুষের ভালো পরিমান আয় হয় এই মেলাটিকে কেন্দ্র করে। তাই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সংশ্লিষ্ট দফতরের আধিকারিকদের নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলেন যে এই মেলাটিকে জনপ্রিয় করে তুলতে সরকার যেন প্রয়োজনীয় সব ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করে।

অনেক গ্রামীণ ব্যবসায়ী যারা এই খাদ্যশিল্পে নিযুক্ত আছেন তারা এই মেলার মাধ্যমে এখানকার উদ্যোগপতিদের সহায়তায় কলকাতা ও তার পার্শবর্তী অঞ্চলে বাণিজ্য শুরু করার সুযোগ পেলেন।

এই প্রথম বার এখানে বিদেশি খাবারের জন্য একটি আলাদা বিভাগ করা হয়েছিল, যেখানে চীন, রাশিয়া, ভুটান ও বাংলাদেশ অংশগ্রহণ করেছিল তাদের জনপ্রিয় খাদ্যভান্ডারের ঝাঁপি নিয়ে। কিছু কিছু খাবারের স্টলে সবসময় লাইন দেখা গেছে খাবার নেওয়ার জন্য। এই জনপ্রিয়তার ওপর ভিত্তি করে তিনটি পুরস্কারও প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

শীঘ্রই রেস্টুরেন্টের “ডাক-এ-সালান”, সব থেকে নতুনত্ব খাবারের পুরস্কার পেয়েছে। রাজ্য প্রাণী সম্পদ দফতরের ডাক-রোস্ট পেয়েছে সব থেকে জনপ্রিয় খাবারের তকমা। রাজ্য মত্স দফতরের সবকটি স্টল জনপ্রিয়তম রেস্টুরেন্টের খেতাব পেয়েছে।

Stating that the Centre was trying to undermine the federal structure of the country, the West Bengal Government today said they will not accept the decision to bypass the state finance department in sending funds for MGNREGA scheme.

“Earlier, the money for 100 days work would come to the state finance department from where we used to distribute it to other departments. Now they are starting a ‘Tughlaqi-system’ where they are trying to avoid the finance department,” State Finance Minister Dr Amit Mitra told newspersons here.

A meeting of different departments called by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee decided that they would write a strong protest letter to the Centre in this regard. “It is a step against federalism and autonomy of the state. It is as if they do not trust the states. It is against the legislative process and undermines the federal structure,” the State Finance Minister said hoping the Centre and other states would understand the issue.

Dr Mitra said now the Centre was trying to send money directly to beneficiaries. State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee said they were not going to accept the decision which “undermines the jurisdiction of the state.” He alleged that the Centre had shown a tendency to keep the state government in the dark on such decisions. Dr Mitra said they discussed how to start economic reforms without affecting the common man at a special meeting, where secretaries of various departments were also present. “We want a win-win situation where reforms will not hamper the lives of common people,” he added.

 

 

একশো দিনের প্রকল্পে রাজ্যকে এড়িয়ে টাকা দেওয়া মেনে নেওয়া হবে নাঃ অর্থমন্ত্রী

একশো দিনের প্রকল্পে মজুরির টাকা সরাসরি কর্মীদের ব্যাঙ্ক অ্যাকাউণ্টে পাঠানোর কেন্দ্রীয় সিদ্ধান্তের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদ জানাল রাজ্য৷ কেন্দ্র রাজ্যের যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় কাঠামোয় হস্তক্ষেপ করছে যা রাজ্য কখনোই মেনে নেবে না।

অর্থমন্ত্রী সাংবাদিকদের জানান, “আগে একশো দিনের প্রকল্পের টাকা সরাসরি রাজ্যের অর্থ দফতরে আসত৷ সেখান থেকে পঞ্চায়েত ও সংশ্লিষ্ট দফতর মারফত কর্মীদের ব্যাঙ্কের অ্যাকাউণ্টে টাকা চলে যেত৷ কয়েকদিন আগে কেন্দ্র এক নির্দেশে সব রাজ্যকেই জানায়, একশো দিনের প্রকল্পের টাকা আর রাজ্যের অর্থ দফতরে জমা দেওয়া হবে না৷ অর্থাৎ এভাবে রাজ্যের অধিকার কেড়ে নেওয়া হচ্ছে৷”।

মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এদিন বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের মন্ত্রীদের নিয়ে একটি বৈঠক করেন, যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় কাঠামোয় হস্তক্ষেপের প্রতিবাদে কেন্দ্রকে চিঠি দেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। এটা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় কাঠামোয় এবং রাজ্যের স্বায়ত্তশাসন বিরুদ্ধ একটি পদক্ষেপ। অর্থ দফতরের মাধ্যমে টাকা পাঠানোই নিয়ম৷ সেটা না হওয়া মানে বিধানসভাকেও অবমাননা করা।

অমিত মিত্র জানান, কেন্দ্র এখন সরাসরি কর্মীদের টাকা পাঠানোর চেষ্টা করছে। রাজ্যের শিক্ষা ও পরিষদীয় মন্ত্রী পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায় বলেছেন, এই সিদ্ধান্ত যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় কাঠামোয় আঘাত৷ অগণতান্ত্রিক ও অসাংবিধানিক সিদ্ধান্ত৷ যতদূর সম্ভব প্রতিবাদ করা হবে৷ তিনি আরও বলেন কেন্দ্রের এই সিদ্ধান্ত রাজ্যকে ক্রমশ অন্ধকারে ঠেলে দেবে।

ডঃ মিত্র জানান, “কীভাবে অর্থনৈতিক সংস্কার করা যায়, যাতে সাধারণ মানুষের মধ্যে আঘাত না আসে, সে ব্যাপারে বৈঠকে আলোচনা হয়েছে৷  কেন্দ্র থেকে একটি পদক্ষেপের চেষ্টা করা হচ্ছে, যা অত্যন্ত ক্ষতিকর৷ যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় কাঠামোর বিরুদ্ধে আঘাত৷ রাজ্যের স্বায়ত্ত ব্যবস্থার বিরুদ্ধে৷”

A new e-Health centre at New Town was inaugurated by the State Urban Development Minister on Tuesday. The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) West Bengal will run the service mainly for the people of low income group.

The e-Health service will now be available in three places of the New Town.

The e-health centre will have a general physician and paramedical staff. The centre is charging only Rs 50 for its service. It is pocket friendly and many poor people could avail this facility.

A patient can undergo preliminary check-ups and consult a doctor online from the e-health centre. It will cater to first aid and other basic primary healthcare requirements, like sugar and pressure tests. The reports will be sent online to the doctors. Then the doctors will give the necessary advice.

New Town, being a sophisticated township has planed many new initiatives. The city is being made with top class facilities in the line of reputed in cities across the globe. New Town will also house some private hospitals which are in the making.

 

নিউটাউনে চালু হল ই-হেল্থ সেন্টার

নিউ টাউনে একটি নতুন ই-হেল্থ সেন্টার চালু হল। মঙ্গলবার মাননীয় পৌর ও নগরোন্নয়ন মন্ত্রী এই সেন্টারের উদ্বোধন করেন। সাধারণ নাগরিকদের চিকিৎসার চাহিদা পূরণ করতে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের নিউ টাউন কলকাতা ডেভেলপমেন্ট কর্তৃপক্ষ এই সেন্টারটি চালু করল।

বর্তমানে নিউ টাউনের তিনটি জায়গায় এই ই-হেল্থ কেয়ার পরিষেবা চালু হবে। কেন্দ্রগুলি – স্বপ্নভোর এবং অ্যাকশান এরিয়ায় অবস্থিত।

এই ই-হেল্থ সেন্টারগুলিতে সাধারণ চিকিৎসকরা ছাড়াও প্যারামেডিক্যাল কর্মীরা থাকবেন। সেবা কেন্দ্রের চার্জ মাত্র ৫০ টাকা। এর ফলে গরীব মানুষরা সহজেই এখানে চিকিৎসার সুবিধা পাবেন।

এই কেন্দ্রে রোগীরা তাদের প্রাথমিক চেক আপ করানোর পাশাপাশি ডাক্তারের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করে তাদের থেকে বিভিন্ন পরামর্শ নিতে পারবেন। এখানে বিভিন্নন প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা যেমন – সুগার, প্রেসার ইত্যাদি পরীক্ষার ব্যবস্থা রয়েছে। অনলাইনে ডাক্তারদের কাছে রিপোর্ট পাঠানো হবে এবং তারপর ডাক্তাররা প্রয়োজনমতো পরামর্শ দেবেন।

নিউ টাউনের সৌন্দর্যায়নের জন্য ইতিমধ্যেই অনেক পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হয়েছে। এছাড়াও এখানে বেশ কিছু বেসরকারি হাসপাতালও তৈরি হচ্ছে।

Trailing the lost glory, some enthusiastic Kolkatans took the project to revive Baluchari – the pure mulberry silk yarn without the use of zari. Baluchari ‘Buti’ saaris are acclaimed for the soft lustrous texture, glowing colours and distinctive motifs.

The Government of West Bengal has joined hand with the endeavour. Tantuja, under West Bengal State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society has joined hand with a city based textile company to undertake slew of activities to restore the Baluchari’s magnificent history.

The Government of West Bengal got Geographical Indication (GI) of Baluchari sari in 2012. The geographical indication registration number 173 and the registered proprietor is director of handloom, West Bengal. There will be a showcasing of sari and inception of the programme, ‘Baluchari: Bengal and Beyond’ will start on November 18 and continue till December 4. A seminar will also take place on Baluchari in November 19.

 

বালুচরি শাড়ির পুনরুজ্জীবনে নতুন উদ্যোগ তন্তুজর

বাংলার হৃতপ্রায় ঐতিহ্য বালুচরি শাড়ির পুনরুজ্জীবনের লক্ষে এগিয়ে এসছেন কিছু কলকাতাবাসী। এই প্রচেষ্টাকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে উদ্যোগী হয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার।রাজ্য সরকারি সংস্থা তন্তুজ হাত মিলিয়েছে এই শহরের বেসরকারি এক বস্ত্র প্রস্তুতকারী সংস্থার সঙ্গে।

আগামী নভেম্বর মাসের ১৮ তারিখে “বালুচরী – বেঙ্গল এন্ড বিয়ন্ড” শীর্ষক একটি প্রদর্শনীর আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। এই প্রদর্শনীটি চলবে ডিসেম্বর মাসের ৪ তারিখ পর্যন্ত। আশা করা যায় এই উদ্যোগে বালুচরি শাড়ি পুনরুজ্জীবিত হবে।

উল্লেখ্য, ২০১২ সালে রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে জিআই ট্যাগ পায় এই শাড়ি।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated US-based hospitality chain JW Marriott’s debut hotel in the city on Tuesday, reiterating her contention that the state had a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.

The opening of JW Marriott hotel in the city proves that Bengal is the destination for investment as it is the gateway to south-east Asian countries, she said while inaugurating the hotel on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass.

Stressing on the strategic importance of Bengal for business, she said, “Bengal is not just a destination for Kolkata. It is the gateway to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and accessible to Bangkok, Singapore and Myanmar.”

She thanked the authorities of the biggest hotel chain in the world for opening the hotel before the Bengal Global Business Summit scheduled to be held on January 20-21, 2017 where delegates from many foreign countries to the city will attend this conference.

The Bengal CM also informed about the company’s plan to invest in another hotel at Siliguri. The superstructure, spread over 1.3 acres of land on Hillcart Road, would comprise 138 rooms. It will be thrown open to the public by the end of 2017.

রাজ্যে পর্যটন শিল্প বাড়ছে৷ ভিনদেশের পর্যটকরা আসছেন৷ তাই হোটেল ব্যবসা বাড়ছে৷ একের পর এক বিলাসবহুল হোটেল খুলছে রাজ্যে৷ কলকাতায় জে ডবলিউ ম্যারিয়ট হোটেলের উদ্বোধনে এই মন্তব্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের৷ তিনি বলেন, “দীপাবলির আগে কলকাতাকে আলোকিত করল ম্যারিয়ট হোটেল৷ আপনারা এগিয়ে যান৷ আমরা সঙ্গে আছি৷” পাশাপাশি আগামী ২০-২১ জানুয়ারি বেঙ্গল গ্লোবাল সামিট হবে জানিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “যে কোনও প্রকল্প যাতে সুষ্ঠুভাবে হয় তার জন্য সরকার সবসময় সাহায্য করে৷ সহযোগিতা করে৷ কলকাতা হল নেপাল, ভুটান, বাংলাদেশ শুধু নয়, ব্যাংকক, সিঙ্গাপুর, মায়ানমারের গেটওয়ে৷ পর্যটকদেরও পছন্দের গন্তব্য৷ শিল্পও বাড়ছে৷ বহু হোটেল তো আছে৷ নতুন অনেকে আসছে৷ ব্যবসা না হলে তারা আসত?”

সায়েন্স সিটির কাছেই ম্যারিয়ট গোষ্ঠীর হোটেল দরজা খুলল মঙ্গলবার৷ যদিও পুরোপুরি পরিষেবা চালু হতে আরও কয়েকদিন লাগবে৷ কিন্তু ইতিমধ্যেই বেশ কিছু বুকিং হয়ে গিয়েছে৷ মনি গোষ্ঠী ও সত্ত্বা গোষ্ঠীর হাত ধরে কলকাতায় পা রাখল ম্যারিয়ট৷ ২৮১টি ঘর, মহানগরের সর্ববৃহৎ বলরুম, নিশি-উপভোগের জন্য নাইট ক্লাব ‘গোল্ড’, সুইমিং পুল, স্পা এবং আরও অনেক কিছু, যার জন্য সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত খরচ হয়েছে প্রায় ১২০০ কোটি টাকা৷ যে প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধনে চিফ অপারেটিং অফিসার রাজীব মেমন বলেছেন, “কলকাতা সম্পর্কে ধারণা বদলেছে৷ এক সময় সুনামে কিছুটা হলেও ঘুন ধরেছিল, এখন সেই অবস্থা বদলেছে৷” এজন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর প্রশংসাও করেছেন তিনি৷ অর্থমন্ত্রীর সহযোগিতার কথা বলে তাঁর মন্তব্য, “উনিও এই প্রকল্প গড়ে তোলার জন্য নানাভাবে সাহায্য করেছেন, উৎসাহিত করেছেন৷”

In order to strengthen business ties with US, Bengal Finance, Commerce and Industries minister Dr Amit Mitra spent one-and-a-half hours with the US India Business Council (USIBC), a little after Monday midnight, on video conference.

The meeting, attended by USIBC president Mukesh Aghi, global CEO of MasterCard Ajay Banga, Ambassador Frank Wisner, consul general of India in New York Riva Ganguly Das and 35 others, was held in New York. Along with Dr Mitra, Trinamool MP and spokesperson Derek O’Brien pitched Bengal as the next global destination.

Pointing out that at the macro-economic level, the growth of Bengal stood far above that of the rest of the country, the state finance minister cited four examples based on 2015-16 figures that showed that the state outpaced GVA growth nationally by 4.72%, industrial sector growth by 3.29%, agricultural sector growth by 4.45% and services sector growth by 4.79%.

Dr Mitra further said that the state economy was at a more solid footing compared to that during the Left rule in 2010-11. The GSDP (at current prices) has doubled, fiscal deficit and revenue deficit has been brought down, and state’s own taxes have doubled in four years. Plan expenditure has grown thrice and capital expenditure has grown by seven times. Physical infrastructure in the state had grown fourfold, he added.

“Changes in Bengal in the past five years have been palpable and terrific,” said Ajay Banga, chairman emeritus of USIBC & global CEO of MasterCard.

“The 90-minute meeting was purposive. The Q&A session was also invigorating. We are glad that delegates in NYC were receptive to hard numbers about Bengal growth story of 5 years under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee,” O’Brien said.

 

মার্কিন শিল্পপতিদের রাজ্যে বিনিয়োগের আহ্বান শিল্পমন্ত্রীর

রীতিমতো নজিরবিহীনভাবে মধ্যরাতে নবান্ন থেকে ভিডিও কনফারেন্সের মাধ্যমে মার্কিন শিল্পপতিদের এ রাজ্যে বিনিয়োগের জন্য আহ্বান জানানো হল। সোমবার রাত সাড়ে ১১টা থেকে সওয়া ১টা পযর্ন্ত নবান্নের ১৩ তলার কনফারেন্স রুম থেকে ওই ভিডিও কনফারেন্স করেন অর্থ ও শিল্পমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র। অপরদিকে নিউইয়র্কের মিডটাউনের মার্কিন ইন্ডিয়া বিজনেস কাউন্সিলের বোর্ড রুমে ছিলেন প্রায় ৫০ জন শিল্পপতি ও শিল্পসংস্থার কর্ণধার। সেই তালিকায় গ্লোবাল মাস্টার কার্ডের চেয়ারম্যান অজয় বাঙ্গা, ফ্র্যাঙ্ক উইজনারসহ একাধিক বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তি উপস্থিতি ছিলেন।

রাজ্য সরকার তথা এদেশের প্রতিনিধি হিসাবে নিউইয়র্কে ভিডিও কনফারেন্সে উপস্থিত ছিলেন তৃণমূলের রাজ্যসভার সদস্য ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েন এবং নিউইয়র্কে নিযুক্ত ভারতের রাষ্ট্রদূত। রাজ্য সরকারের তরফে অমিত মিত্র ছাড়াও শিল্পদপ্তরের প্রধান সচিব এসএম কৃষ্ণা এবং ডব্লুবিআইডিসি’র ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর সুরেন্দ্র গুপ্তা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

নিউইয়র্কে সময় তখন বেলা ২টো। ভিডিও কনফারেন্সের শুরুতেই মার্কিন ইন্ডিয়া বিজনেস কাউন্সিলের তরফে দ্বিতীয় বার জয়ের জন্য মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়কে শুভেচ্ছা জানানো হয়। সেই সঙ্গে তারা জানিয়ে দেয়, পেপসি, কোকাকোলা, কগনিজ্যান্ট-র মতো মার্কিন সংস্থা রা঩জ্যে রয়েছে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ শুধু উত্তর পূর্বাঞ্চল নয়, এশিয়ান দেশগুলির গেটওয়ে। অমিত মিত্র রাজ্যের রাজনৈতিক স্থিতিশীলতার ব্যাখ্যা করে বলেন, রাজ্যে শিল্প বিনিয়োগের পরিবেশ রয়েছে। এ রাজ্য থেকে বাংলাদেশ, নেপাল, ভুটানেও ব্যাবসার সুযোগ রয়েছে। কগনিজ্যান্ট নতুন করে ১৫ একর জমি নিয়েছে। সেখানে পুনরায় তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি সংস্থা চালু করবে। নতুন করে ১৫ হাজার কর্মসংস্থান হতে চলেছে। কোকাকোলা ১২০০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করেছে। তাদের প্রতিষ্ঠানে ‘মাজা’ তৈরি হচ্ছে। রাজ্যে বিনিয়োগের সব সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।

সেই সব দিক ব্যাখ্যা করতে গিয়ে কত রাস্তা হয়েছে, কত স্কুল, কলেজ, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় তৈরি হয়েছে তার উল্লেখ করেন অমিতবাবু। মার্কিন শিল্পপতিরা অমিতবাবুর কাছে জিএসটি নিয়ে রাজ্যের স্ট্যান্ড জানতে চান। তিনি বলেন, আর কোনও সংস্থাকে একাধিক ট্যাক্স দিতে হবে না। একটি ট্যাক্সের মাধ্যমে সব ট্যাক্স দেওয়া যাবে। তিনি যে জিএসটি’র এমপাওয়ার্ড কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান, তাও জানিয়ে দেন। সেই ভিডিও কনফারেন্সে নিউইয়র্কে উপস্থিত রাজ্যসভার সাংসদ ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েনও কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের ভূমিকারও ব্যাখ্যা করেন। ভারত ও পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সম্পর্কে অভিজ্ঞ ফ্র্যাঙ্ক উইজনারও পৌনে দু’ঘণ্টার ভিডিও কনফারেন্স নানা বিষয় তুলে ধরেন। জানতে চান, দেশ ও রাজ্যের রাজনৈতিক পরিস্থিতি।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের শুধু রাজনৈতিক পরিবর্তন নয়, অর্থনৈতিক পরিবর্তনও জানতে চান অমিত মিত্রের কাছে। অমিতবাবু তাঁদের কাছে আগেই পাঁচ পাতার নোট পাঠিয়েছিলেন। সোমবার গভীর রাতে রাজনৈতিক পরিবর্তনের পুরো ব্যাখ্যা করেন। জানিয়ে দেন, রাজ্য স্থায়ী সরকার চলছে। সেই সঙ্গে পরিকাঠামো, ভারী শিল্প, শিক্ষা, পর্যটন, তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি সেক্টরে বিনিয়োগ করার জন্য আহ্বান জানান। সেই সঙ্গে আগামী ২০-২১ জানুয়ারি বিশ্ববঙ্গ সম্মেলনে হাজির হওয়ার জন্য মার্কিন শিল্পপতিদের কাছে আবেদন করেন শিল্পমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র। মার্কিন ইন্ডিয়া বিজনেস কাউন্সিলের এক প্রতিনিধিদল এ রাজ্যে আসতে পারে বলে নবান্ন সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday cautioned political parties not to create communal tension ahead of Kali Puja.

“There may be groups trying to provoke communal violence. Be extremely careful. If there are attempts to instigate people then inform the police immediately. Do not allow rumours to spread,” the Chief Minister said at Nabanna.

The Chief Minister said that those trying to create divisions among people are against the welfare of the state. “The State Government will not tolerate any kind of destructive activities. All emergency department personnel will be on duty during the forthcoming festive days, as they had been during the recently concluded Durga Puja. Appreciate their efforts and cooperate with them so that the coming festival days remain totally peaceful,” the Chief Minister said.

At the State cabinet meeting yesterday, the Chief Minister issued a note of caution against probable instigation to spread communal violence. She asked all her cabinet colleagues to be extra careful during the festival days. Public representatives have also been asked to make themselves accessible to the masses and keep a close vigil on the situation. The police force have also been instructed to take immediate and strong action against anyone attempting to spread rumours.

 

সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখার বার্তা দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

কালীপুজো, ছট পুজো ও জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজোর সময় রাজ্যে সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখতে মন্ত্রীদের সতর্ক থাকার নির্দেশ দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। পাশাপাশি তিনি পুজো কমিটিগুলি ও সাধারণ মানুষের কাছেও আবেদন রেখেছেন কোনওরকম প্ররোচনার ফাঁদে পা না দিতে।

তাঁর কথায়, “চক্রান্ত হচ্ছে বা অন্যায় দেখলে প্রতিবাদ করতে হবে। বাংলা বিশ্বের দরবারে যাতে গর্ব করার মতো জায়গায় না থাকতে পারে, তার জন্য চক্রান্ত চলছে। কেউ বিভেদ করতে চাইলে মেনে নেবেন না”।

সোমবার নবান্নের সামনে দমকলের নতুন ৫০টি গাড়ির যাত্রার সূচনা অনুষ্ঠানে যেমন এই বার্তা দিয়েছেন, তেমনই মন্ত্রীসভার বৈঠকেও মন্ত্রীদের সতর্ক থাকতে বলেছেন তিনি। সেখানে ধর্মীয় উসকানির বিষয়টিও স্পষ্ট সতর্ক করে দিয়েছেন তিনি। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন, অনেকেই সাম্প্রদায়িক বিভেদ ঘটাতে উসকানি দিচ্ছে, সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখতে হবে। আগেও এমন খবর এসেছে।বিধায়কদের পাশে নিয়ে সাধারণ মানুষের পাশে থেকে সতর্ক নজর রাখার কথা বলেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

সোমবার দমকলের অনুষ্ঠানে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী  বলেন, “সবাই যেন ভালো থাকে। দুর্ভোগ বা দুর্যোগের উ९সব চাই না।” তিনি সতর্ক করে দিয়েছেন, খেয়াল রাখতে হবে আমার আনন্দ যেন অপরের নিরানন্দের কারণ না হয়।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্য, “ধর্মে-কর্মে বিভেদ করে যারা, তারাই ধ্বংস করে, সৃষ্টি নয়। আমরা মৃত্যু নয়, জীবন চাই।” পাশাপাশি ধর্মীয় বিভেদকারীদের বিষয়ে মানুষকে সতর্ক করে তিনি বলেন, “যারা ধর্মের নামে বিভেদ করে, তারা পরিবারের মধ্যে বিভেদ করবে। এলাকায় এলাকায় বিভেদ করে দেবে। এটাই ওদের কাজ।”

তিনি বলেন, “দুঃখ, কষ্ট থাকতে পারে, তা বলে উত্সব থেমে থাকবে না। অপসংস্কৃতি নয়, সংস্কৃতি চাই। বাংলার মাটি সভ্যতার মাটি। পাঁচ বছরে বাংলায় অনেক কাজ হয়েছে। আরও কাজ করতে হবে।”
