Propagating the message of communal harmony, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said: “We celebrate festivals of all religion with equal importance and give significance to the feeling of the people.”

She visited Doi Ghat and Takta Ghat to greet people on Chhath Puja on Sunday evening. The state Urban Development minister, and the Kolkata Mayor and state Fire minister, accompanied the Chief Minister on the occasion.

Hundreds of people gathered at the bank of river Hooghly to offer Chhath puja. After greeting the people, Banerjee said that the state government had developed and improved the condition of the ghats on the bank of river Hooghly, which were in a dilapidated state for decades.

“We value the traditions. I visit the ghats on the day of Chhath Puja every year and we celebrate all festivals with equal importance. Durga Puja and Kali Puja are over. In December, there will be Christmas and it will also be celebrated in the state with equal pomp and pleasure,” she said, adding that this year Monday has been declared a holiday for state government employees for Chhath Puja.

The Chief Minister urged the people not to hurry unnecessarily and to reach the river bank peacefully to offer their puja. She said that the administration and the police were working to help the people.

 

আমরা সব ধর্মের উৎসব সমান মর্যাদার সঙ্গে পালন করিঃ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

আবারও সম্প্রীতির বার্তা দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মাননীয়া মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। তিনি বলেন, “আমরা সকল জাতি ধর্মের মানুষকে সমান মর্যাদা দিই, সকল ধর্ম ও সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষের উত্সব আমরা সমান উদ্দীপনার সঙ্গে পালন করি।”

তিনি দহি ঘাট ও তক্তা ঘাটে গিয়ে ছট পুজোর উপলক্ষে উপস্থিত জনতাকে শুভেচ্ছা বার্তা জানান।  সেখানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন রাজ্য নগরোন্নয়ন মন্ত্রী, কলকাতার মেয়র ও দমকল মন্ত্রী।

ছট পুজোর উদ্দেশ্যে হুগলী নদীর ধারে প্রচুর মানুষের জমায়েত হয়েছিল। উপস্থিত জনতাকে শুভেচ্ছা জানানোর পর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, হুগলী নদীর দুই পাড় দশকের পর দশক ধরে জীর্ণ অবস্থায় পড়ে ছিল, রাজ্য সরকার পুরো ঘাটের সংস্কার করেন ও উন্নয়ন করেন।

“আমরা ঐতিহ্যের মর্যাদা দিই। আমি প্রতি বছর ছট পুজোর সময় ঘাটে আসি পুজো দেখতে, আমরা সকল ধর্মের সকল উত্সব সমান মর্যাদার সঙ্গে পালন করি। দুর্গা পুজো ও কালী পুজো শেষ হয়ে গেছে। ডিসেম্বর মাসে খ্রিষ্টমাস, সেটাও সমান মর্যাদার সঙ্গে পালন করা হবে।” তিনি আরো জানান, ছট পুজো উপলক্ষে সোমবার ছুটি ঘোষণা করেছে রাজ্য সরকার।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “অযথা কেউ পুজো নিবেদনের উদ্দেশ্যে গঙ্গার ঘাটে যাওয়ার জন্য তাড়াহুড়ো করবেন না, ধীরে সুস্থে সকলে নিজের পুজো নিবেদন করুন, রাজ্য প্রশাসন ও পুলিশ তাদের সাহায্য করতে ওখানে উপস্থিত আছে।”

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday stepped up the ante against the BJP-led Centre, slamming it for unleashing a political vendetta that was “worse than Emergency”.

The CM, who had earlier in a social media post called the 1-day ban on NDTV India “shocking“ and smacking of “Emergency-like attitude“, alleged that the Narendra Modi-government was practically running a presidential form of government that was bent on curtailing democratic rights.

“I am appealing to all political parties. I have to tell all my friends to come together and sit together. Let us fight to gether. If anybody comes, it is up to them,“ she told reporters at Nabanna, the state secretariat. “Nobody should question our patriotism. We all love our country . No one is anti-Indian,“ she added.

“Today somebody is in power, tomorrow someone else will be in power. But they are setting a wrong precedent.If this method is followed, the country will suffer,“ she said.

“Rahul Gandhi was detained. He had gone to meet the family of a deceased jawan. The Delhi CM was detained. We believe in democracy , we respect federalism. But that is under attack,“ she said.

The Centre, she accused, wants to control the media and even the state governments. “The Prime Minister bypasses an elected CM and interacts with the state chief secretary . Is this federalism? If we don’t (fall in line) they will put (central) agencies on your back,“ she said, adding: “ A government needs to act as per its legal mandate. It can’t be fanning communal and sectarian divide.“

On the one-day gag order on a media channel, she said, “Media will do its duty . Even here so many media are critical of me.If they err, you have legal provisions. Let the highest authority decide.”

 

দেশের অবস্থা জরুরির চেয়েও ভয়ংকরঃ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

শুক্রবার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় কেন্দ্রের রাজনৈতিক প্রতিহিংসার সমালোচনা করে বলেন, দেশের অবস্থা এখন জরুরী অবস্থার চেয়েও ভয়ংকর।

এনডিটিভি-র হিন্দি সংবাদ চ্যানেল সম্প্রচারে মোদি সরকারের নিষেধাজ্ঞা জারি করার ঘটনায় তীব্র প্রতিক্রিয়া জানিয়ে বলেন যে এই ঘটনা ‘জরুরি অবস্থার চেয়েও ভয়ংকর’। নরেন্দ্র মোদির সরকার কার্যত মানুষের গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকারকে খর্ব করার চেষ্টা করছে”।

নবান্নে সাংবাদিকদের তিনি বলেন, “আমি সব রাজনৈতিক দলের কাছে আবেদন করছি আসুন আমরা সকলে লড়াই করব।তিনি আরও বলেন, আমাদের দেশপ্রেম নিয়ে কারো প্রশ্ন করা উচিত নয়. আমরা সবাই আমাদের দেশকে ভালোবাসি। আমরা কেউ ভারত বিরোধী নই”।

“আজ একজন ক্ষমতায় আছে, কাল অন্য কেউ ক্ষমতায় আসবে। কিন্তু ওরা ভুল পথ অনুসরণ করছে। এই পদ্ধতি অনুসরণ করে চললে দেশের ক্ষতি হবে”, বলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

রাহুল গান্ধী ও অরবিন্দ কেজরিঅয়ালকে আটক করার ঘটনার তীব্র নিন্দা করে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “রাহুল গান্ধী ওই জওয়ানের পরিবারের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গিয়েছিলেন বলে তাঁকে আটক করা হয়েছিল। এমনকি দিল্লীর মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকেও আটক করা হয়েছিল। আমরা গণতন্ত্রে বিশ্বাসী, আমরা ফেডেরালিজমকে সম্মান করি, কিন্তু এই কাজ রাজনৈতিক শিষ্টাচার বিরোধী”।

কেন্দ্র এখন মিডিয়ার পাশাপাশি রাজ্য সরকারকেও কন্ট্রোল করতে চাইছে বলেও এদিন অভিযোগ করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

তিনি বলেন, “মিডিয়া তার কাজ করবে। নির্বাচনের সময় অনেক মিডিয়া আমাদের বিরোধিতা করেছে। আমরা কোন প্রতিহিংসামূলক পদক্ষেপ নিইনি। দরকার হলে আইনি পদ্ধতি আছে তা অনুসরণ করতে হবে কিন্তু এভাবে কারো মত প্রকাশের অধিকার খর্ব করা যায় না। এটা সংবিধান স্বীকৃত ব্যবস্থা। একে মান্যতা দিতেই হবে”।

“Our soil is for unity, we stand for unity,” chief minister Mamata Banerjee said on Friday. She couldn’t have found a more opportune moment, nor a better place for airing the message of peace. It was the Bengal government’s celebration of thanksgiving for St Teresa of Kolkata, in association with the Missionaries of Charity. The venue was Shanti Dan, destitutes home set up by Mother Teresa, where the chief minister wished to celebrate the canonization of “St Teresa of Calcutta” with the poorest of the poor.

She reiterated that in times of political and religious intolerance as this, complete communal harmony prevailed in Bengal. “This (our state) is like a joint family, somebody may be Sikh, or Muslim, or Christian or a Hindu. (For everyone), humanity comes first. “Javed (Khan) is a Muslim, Derek a Christian…they are all here to attend this function.”

“It’s my privilege to be at Shanti Dan today. We went to Vatican and there Mother became saint Mother. Now, she’s St Teresa, but she’s Mother for all.” The audience, who included destitutes, specially-abled men, women and children, cheered on.

During her speech, the chief minister recalled her meeting with Saint Teresa, during a communal unrest, at Loreto Sealdah. “I was moving on the road, and Mother was the only other person, who was also moving, alone, keeping a watchful eye that night. I am lucky to have met her, get her blessings.”

 

মাদারের আদর্শে ঐক্যের বার্তা দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

কলকাতার সেন্ট টেরেসাকে ধন্যবাদ জানানোর জন্য মাদার টেরেসার তৈরী করা শান্তিদানে রাজ্য সরকার ও মিশনারিজ অফ চ্যারিটির যৌথ উদ্যোগে এক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। এদিন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “আমরা একটা যৌথ পরিবার৷ এটাই আমাদের বিশ্বাস৷ মানবিকতাই আমাদের ধর্ম৷ সবাইকে ভালোবাসাই আমাদের কাজ৷ মাদার টেরেসা এই সত্য মেনে নিয়েই কাজ করতেন৷ আমাদেরও সেটাই ধর্ম৷”

তাঁর কথায় এই বার্তা সকলকে জানানোর জন্য এর থেকে ভালো সুযোগ ও স্থান তিনি আর পাবেন না। উক্ত সভায় মাদার টেরেসাকে শ্রদ্ধা জানানো হয় ওনার সন্ত উপাধি লাভের জন্য।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী জানান সারা দেশব্যাপী এই রাজনৈতিক ও ধার্মিক অসহিষ্ণুতার সময়েও আমাদের রাজ্যে সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি নজিরবিহীন। তিনি বলেন “আমাদের রাজ্য একটি যৌথ পরিবারের মতো, হয়ত কেউ শিখ, কেউ মুসলিম, কেউ খ্রিষ্টান, কেউ হিন্দু। কিন্তু সকলের কাছেই মানবতা সবার আগে। জাভেদ খান একজন মুসলিম, ডেরেক একজন খ্রিষ্টান, কিন্তু দুজনেই সমান আগ্রহ নিয়ে এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত।”

“এই শান্তিদানে আসতে পেরে আমি গর্বিত। আমি ভাটিক্যানেও গেছিলাম যেখানে মাদার টেরেসাকে ‘সেন্ট’ আখ্যা দেওয়া হয়। তিনি সন্ত হলেও সকলের কাছে তিনি মাদার হয়েই থাকবেন।” এই বক্তব্য শুনে সভায় উপস্থিত সকলে উচ্ছ্বাস প্রকাশ করেন।

কোনো এক দাঙ্গার সময় শিয়ালদহ লরেটো স্কুলে মাদার টেরেসার সঙ্গে করা এক সাক্ষাতের কথা স্মরণ করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। “পরিস্থিতির ওপর নজর রাখতে আমি সারা রাস্তায় ঘুরছিলাম, ওদিকে মাদারও একা রাস্তায় ঘুরছিলেন পরিস্থিতির ওপর নজর রাখতে। ভাগ্যক্রমে ওনার সঙ্গে দেখা হয় এবং আমি ওনার আশীর্বাদ লাভ করি।”

The chairman of the empowered committee of state finance ministers, Dr Amit Mitra, said GST rates fixed on Thursday were a great victory for Bengal and other states. He also pointed out that the rates -0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% -would not have any inflationary impact on the common man.

Bengal is likely to gain from the GST regime as the cess on coal will continue for now, along with the ones on primary education and rural development. Both education and rural development cess are linked with petroleum products, which is not under GST now.

Bengal earns a revenue of Rs 700 crore from coal cess and Rs 500 crore from the two others. The state now has a combination of ad valorem cess of 25% on the value of coal production and a royalty of Rs 5.50-7 per tonne, depending on the grade of coal.

Dr Mitra said that all states fought for 0% GST on grain, though a 6% rate was initially proposed on this. “There would have been inflationary pressure due to this. In a state like West Bengal, there is no VAT on foodgrain, so we all fought for 0% rate on it,“ he said.

The minister also argued that minimum rate of 5% -down from the original 6% -was fixed on the insistence of states. “We protested against 6% minimum rate and brought it down to 5%. For industry , even 1% is huge and can have inflationary impact.The highest slab is also kept at 28% as we were against any slab beyond 30%, which Value Added Tax has,“ Dr Mitra added.

Elaborating on the nittygritty of the new regime, Dr Mitra said revenue officials of different states would together decide on items for the standard category of 12% and 18%, keeping in mind that inflation had to be kept in check.

 

জিএসটি হার বাংলা ও রাজ্যগুলির জন্য লাভজনক হবে: অমিত মিত্র

বিভিন্ন রাজ্যের অর্থমন্ত্রীদের নিয়ে গঠিত জিএসটি কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান তথা বাংলার অর্থমন্ত্রী মাননীয় ডঃ অমিত মিত্র বলেন, জিএসটির যে হার নির্ধারিত হয়েছে সেটি বাংলা ও অন্যান্য রাজ্যের জন্য একটি বড় জয়। ০, ৫, ১২, ১৮, ২৮ শতাংশ হার সাধারণ মানুষের জন্য কোনও সমস্যা সৃষ্টি করবে না।

প্রাথমিকভাবে খাদ্যশস্যের ওপর ৬ শতাংশ কর বসানোর প্রস্তাব থাকলো সব রাজ্যই ০ শতাংশ করের দাবি তোলে। ডঃ অমিত মিত্র বলেন, “খাদ্য শস্যের ওপর ৬ শতাংশ সেস বসলে মূল্যবৃদ্ধির পরিস্থিতি সৃষ্টি হাত, তাই আমরা সকলেই ০ শতাংশের দাবি তুলি। বাংলার মত রাজ্যে খাদ্যশস্যের ওপর কোনো ভ্যাট বসানো হয়নি।”

তিনি আরও বলেন যে সর্বনিম্ন জিএসটি হার ৬ থেকে কমিয়ে ৫ শতাংশ করার পেছনেও রাজ্যদের ভূমিকা ছিল। শিল্পের জন্য ১ শতাংশ করও মূল্যবৃদ্ধি সৃষ্টি করতে পারে। সর্বোচ্চ হার ২৮ শতাংশ রাখা হয় কারণ আমরা ৩০ শতাংশের চেয়ে বেশি করের বিরোধী; ভ্যাটের ক্ষেত্রেও তাই ছিল।

জিএসটির যে চারটি কর শ্রেণী বা স্ল্যাব ধার্য করা হয়েছে, তার কোনটাতে কোন দ্রব্য থাকবে এবার বিভিন্ন রাজ্যের সচিবরা আলোচনার মাধ্যমে ঠিক করবেন বলেও জানান ডঃ অমিত মিত্র।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that an atmosphere of religious and political intolerance prevailed in the country.

While addressing a public meeting in Jamboni, West Midnapore, she said, “The entire country is witnessing religious and political intolerance. In Bengal we do not believe in this. We follow what people like Ramkrishna and Vivekananda said.

“We will not tolerate any kind of communal division. In Bengal, we don’t discriminate among people according to their religion. Five years ago, people in Jangalmahal were living in terror. Tides have turned. Smiles have replaced tears,” she added.

Stating that Bengal will not tolerate politics of communalism and riots, Mamata Banerjee said she took pride in the fact that “only Bengal can celebrate both Durga Puja and Muharram harmoniously”. The chief minister pledged to take the state to new heights of glory.

On Friday, reacting to Centre’s decision to take a private news channel off-air for a day, she tweeted, “NDTV ban is shocking. If Govt had issues with Pathankot coverage,there are provisions available. But ban shows an Emergency-like attitude.”

বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বৃহস্পতিবার বলেন যে সারা দেশে ধর্মীয় ও রাজনৈতিক অসহিষ্ণুতার পরিবেশ তৈরী হয়েছে। জামবনির এক জনসভায় তিনি বলেন, বাংলায় মারা মানুষে মানুষে বিভেদ করিনা। আমরা রামকৃষ্ণ-বিবেকানন্দের আদর্শে বিশ্বাস করি।

তিনি জোর গলায় বলেন যে বাংলা দাঙ্গাবাজদের ক্ষমা করবে না। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী গর্ব করে বলেন একমাত্র বাংলাতেই দুর্গা পুজো এবং মহরম একই সাথে শান্তিতে ও সৌহার্দের সাথে পালিত হয়।

শুক্রবার যখন খবরে প্রচারিত হয় যে কেন্দ্র একটি বেসরকারি হিন্দি চ্যানেলের ওপর একদিনের জন্য সম্প্রচারে নিষেধাজ্ঞা জারি করেছে, তিনি বিস্ময় প্রকাশ করে টুইট করেন, “এনডিটিভির ওপর নিষেধাজ্ঞায় আমি বিস্মিত। পাঠানকোটে সংবাদমাধ্যমের ভূমিকা নিয়ে সরকারের আপত্তি থাকলে অন্য পন্থাও নিতে পারতো সরকার। কিন্তু এই নিষেধাজ্ঞা যেন জরুরি অবস্থার সমান।”

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday held some Opposition paties responsible for spreading communal tension in the state and in one breath said that any attempt to destroy the fabric of communal harmony will be dealt with seriously.

“They are fanning communal tension and trying to disturb the communal harmony in the state. Any attempt to disrupt the environment of communal harmony and peace will be dealt with seriously,” she said. She was addressing a rally at Jamboni in West Midnapore.

She also said that the Centre was reducing its funds allocation in many projects making it almost impossible for the state government to carry on with them. She said because of the lack of planning of CPI(M) government, the state government had to spend a major portion of its earnings to clear the loan burden.

“For three decades, the CPI(M) government did not do anything for the state’s development and took loans. The situation has become so alarming that a major portion of the state’s earning has to be spent to clear the loan”. The Centre should do something in this regard, she maintained adding: “The CPI(M) leaders have no work to do except finding faults with the state government.”

 

বাংলায় দাঙ্গাবাজদের কোনও ক্ষমা নয়:‌‌ মমতা

পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের জামবনির এক জনসভায় বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে বৃহস্পতিবার তৃণমূলনেত্রী তথা বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বলেন যে কিছু বিরোধী দল শান্ত বাংলাকে অশান্ত করার জন্য কাজ করে চলেছে, তিনি একই সঙ্গে জানান সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখার জন্য প্রশাসন সর্বদা প্রস্তুত।

“বিরোধীরা সর্বক্ষণ চেষ্টা করে যাচ্ছে দাঙ্গার পরিবেশ তৈরী করার। বাংলা দাঙ্গাবাজদের বরদাস্ত করবে না।”

সাথে সাথেই তিনি কেন্দ্রকেও বিঁধেছেন। “কেন্দ্র প্রায় সব প্রকল্পের টাকা কমিয়ে দিয়েছে, যার ফলে সেগুলি চালানো প্রায় অসম্ভব হয়ে উঠছে। বিগত বাম আমলের পরিকল্পনার অভাবে আমাদের আয়ের একটা বিশাল অংশ শুধু দেনা মেটাতে দিয়ে দিতে হচ্ছে,” বলেন তিনি।

“তিন দশক ধরে বাম সরকার বাংলার জন্য কোনো কাজ করে নি, শুধু ধার নিয়ে গেছে। তিনি এও বলেন “সিপিআইএম নেতাদের কোনোই কাজ নেই শুধুমাত্র এখনকার সরকারের খুঁত ধরা আর তাই নিয়ে কুত্সা ও অপপ্রচার করা ছাড়া।”

 

Kolkata International Film Festival 2016 to screen films from 65 countries

The Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) will kickstart the carnival of cinema on November 11 this year with the screening of 155 films from 65 countries across 105 screens at 13 venues in the city.

After being upgraded into a festival of masses, not a selected few, by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2011, the festival now boasts a competitive section too.

In this edition, in a new initiative, 18 shows of nine films will be screened as part of the ‘Parae Parae Cinema’. An exhibition on Uttam Kumar is also on the cards. Mamata Banerjee wanted KIFF to be a festival for all. That has been the endeavour for all the organisers.

China is the focal country this year. Seven films from China, including ‘American Dreams in China’, ‘Black Coal, Thin Ice’ and ‘Wolf Totem’, have been included in the festival.

Another new section in KIFF would be biopics where seven films on the lives of filmmakers will be shown. Besides large screens, a selection of old classical films will also be shown in theatres across the city.

The government has upgraded the screens at Rabindra Sadan and Nandan-II to 2k projection system, he added. The Bengal government has taken an initiative with actress Jaya Bachchan to restore old films.

 

বাংলার গন্ধ মেখে উঠবে চলচ্চিত্র উ९সবের পর্দা

শুরু হচ্ছে ২২ তম আন্তর্জাতিক কলকাতা চলচ্চিত্র উ९সব। ৬৫ দেশের ১৫৫টি ছবি নিয়ে শুরু হচ্ছে এই চলচ্চিত্র উ९সব। দেখানো হবে ১৩ টি পর্দায়।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের চিন্তার পথ ধরেই এগিয়েছে এই উ९সবের সুর।

এবার চলচ্চিত্র উ९সবের থিম হল ‘সিনেমার সবাই, সবার সিনেমা’। আক্ষরিক অর্থে ২২ তম চলচ্চিত্র উ९সবে যেন বৈচিত্র্যের সমাহার। ১১ নভেম্বর নেতাজি ইনডোর স্টেডিয়ামে উদ্বোধন হবে। উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানেও দেখানো হবে বাংলা ছবি।

‘পাড়ায় পাড়ায় সিনেমা’ এর অংশ হিসাবে ৯ টি ছবির ১৮টি শো প্রদর্শিত হবে। উত্তম কুমারের ছবির উপর একটি প্রদর্শনী হবে। মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় চান সাধারণ মানুষ থেকে বুদ্ধিজীবী সকলে এই উ९সবে সামিল হোক।

এবছরের উ९সবে চিনকে বিশেষ মর্যাদা দেওয়া হয়েছে। রয়েছে সেই দেশের ৭ টি সিনেমা। অ্যামেরিকান ড্রিমস ইন সিনেমা, ব্ল্যাক কোল, থিন আইসএবং উল্ফ টোটেম দেখানো হবে এই উ९সবে।

চলচ্চিত্র উ९সবের ছবি দেখানো হবে নন্দন–১, নন্দন–২, নন্দন–৩ ছাড়াও শিশির মঞ্চ, রবীন্দ্রসদন, রক্সি, নজরুল তীর্থ, নবীনা, স্টার থিয়েটার, কার্নিভাল সিনেমা, মিত্রা ও সিটি সেন্টার–১ এর আইনক্সে। ইতিমধ্যেই রবীন্দ্র সদন ও নন্দন চত্বর সবুজায়ন কড়া হচ্ছে ও আরও জায়গা বাড়ানো হচ্ছে। উ९সব চলবে ১৮ নভেম্বর পর্যন্ত।‌‌‌‌

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today launched the distribution of 43,000 bicycles under Sabuj Sathi to the students of Class IX of state-run, aided and sponsored schools at a function at Jamboni, West Midnapore.

From today’s programme, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a nursing training college in Lalgarh, a number of Karma Tirthas, Government buildings, road projects, flood shelters, marketing hubs and a host of other projects.

She laid the foundation stones for many projects including the Medinipur Homeopathic College and Hospital and its women’s hostel, road projects, water projects, projects for forestry.

Besides cycles of Sabuj Sathi, the Chief Minister also distributed benefits including Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Geetanjali, land pattas, agricultural equipment, loans, computers and books.

Jangalmahal smiling

Five years ago people in Jangalmahal were living in terror. Tides have turned. Smiles have replaced tears. Jangalmahal is smiling today. This is my biggest achievement. I can give my life but will never forget Jangalmahal.

Will always work for the people

It is our duty to work for people. Healthcare at government hospitals in Bengal is free. I do not support people who try to extort money by causing inconveniencing people. I do not believe in playing petty politics in matters of governance. I created Trinamool Congress to serve people. It is my pledge and commitment to continue to work for people.

Will work for people despite financial problems

We increased our revenue from Rs 20000 Cr to Rs 40000 Cr in 5 years. But we inherited a debt crisis from Left. Centre takes away our revenues to pay off debts incurred by the previous Govt. Still, we are working for people. Despite all financial problems, we will continue to work for people.

Bengal does not tolerate riots

There is an atmosphere of religious and political intolerance in the country. In Bengal we never discriminate between people. Bengal does not allow politics of communalism and riots. It will not be tolerated.

Pledge to take Bengal to new heights of glory

Youth from Jangamahal have been recruited in the police forces and as civic volunteers. Folk artistes are getting their due recognition now. We have to preserve our culture. I started Kanyashree scheme so that girls can pursue education. We are giving rice at Rs 2/kg to people under Khadya Sathi. It is our aim to help the needy.

We have started conducting WBCS exam in Ol Chiki language. We believe in respecting all languages, be it Urdu, Hindi, Gurmukhi, Santhali. The Tribal Development Ministry will soon form a development board for the welfare of people in Jangalmahal. We have initiated a major irrigation project for the districts of Bankura, Purulia, West Midnapore. I have instructed forest department to look into the problems faced by locals due to stray elephants.

Jhargram will soon become a new district. We are waiting for judicial clearances. We are redefining tourism in Jhargram. Earlier people were scared to come to these places.

 

আমি জঙ্গলমহলকে কোনদিন ভুলতে পারিনাঃ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের ঝাড়গ্রামের জামবনিতে সভা করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সভামঞ্চ থেকে সবুজ সাথী প্রকল্পের আওতায়  নবম শ্রেণীর ছাত্রছাত্রীদের প্রায় ৪৩০০০ বাইসাইকেল বিতরণ করেন তিনি।

আজকের এই অনুষ্ঠান থেকে লালগড়ে একটি নার্সিং ট্রেনিং কলেজ, কর্মতীর্থ, সরকারি ভবন, রাস্তা, বন্যার সময় দুর্গতদের জন্য আশ্রয়স্থল,  মার্কেটিং হাব সহ বিভিন্ন প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

মেদিনীপুরে হোমিওপ্যাথি কলেজ,হাসপাতাল এবং ছাত্রী আবাস সহ, রাস্তা, পানীয় জল সহ বিভিন্ন প্রকল্পের শিলান্যাস করেন তিনি।

সবুজ সাথী প্রকল্পে সাইকেল বিতরণের পাশাপাশি কন্যাশ্রী, যুবশ্রী, গীতাঞ্জলি, জমির পাট্টা, কৃষি যন্ত্রপাতি, লোন, কম্পিউটার এবং বইও বিতরণ করা হয় এই সভা মঞ্চ থেকে।

তাঁর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশঃ

  • পাঁচ বছর আগে জঙ্গলমহলে মানুষ আতঙ্কে বাস করত, সময় পাল্টেছে। কান্না এখন হাসিতে পরিণত হয়েছে
  • আজ জঙ্গলমহল হাসছে। এটা আমার সবচেয়ে বড় সাফল্য
  • আমি সব জেলা বিশেষত জঙ্গলমহল এবং পাহাড় আমি নিয়মিত পরিদর্শন করি

  • বাউল শিল্পীদের সরকার থেকে সাহায্য করা হচ্ছে। আমাদের সংস্কৃতিকে বাঁচিয়ে রাখতে হবে
  • মেয়েদের উচ্চ শিক্ষার জন্য কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্প চালু করেছি
  • খাদ্য সাথী প্রকল্পের আওতায় ২ টাকা কেজি দরে চাল পাচ্ছে সাধারণ মানুষ। মানুষকে সাহায্য করাই আমাদের লক্ষ
  • আমরা অল চিকি ভাষায় ডবলু বি সি এস পরীক্ষা চালু করেছি
  • আমরা সব ভাষাকেই সম্মান করি, সে উর্দু, হিন্দি, গুরুমুখী, সাঁওতালি যাই হোক
  • জঙ্গলমহলের মানুষদের উন্নয়নের জন্য শীঘ্রই একটি উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ গঠন করবে আদিবাসী উন্নয়ন মন্ত্রক
  • বাঁকুড়া, পুরুলিয়া, পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর জেলায় জলসেচ প্রকল্পের কাজ নেওয়া হয়েছে
  • খুব শীঘ্রই ঝাড়গ্রাম নতুন জেলা হবে, আমরা কোর্টের অনুমোদনের অপেক্ষায় রয়েছি
  • আমরা ঝাড়গ্রামের পর্যটন ঢেলে সাজাচ্ছি। আগে মানুষ এখানে আসতে ভয় পেত
  • আর্থিক অনটন সত্ত্বেও আমরা মানুষের জন্য কাজ করে যাব
  • হাতির কারণে যাতে সাধারণ মানুষের কোন সমস্যা না হয় সেদিকে নজর দেওয়ার নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে বনকর্মীদের
  • আমি নিজেকে ভুলতে পারি কিন্তু জঙ্গলমহলকে ভুলতে পারি না
  • সারা দেশে ধর্মীয় ও রাজনৈতিক অসহিষ্ণুতার পরিবেশ তৈরী হয়েছে। বাংলায় আমরা কখনোও বিভেদ করি না মানুষের মধ্যে

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday urged the people to continue upholding the state’s tradition of secularism and communal harmony during the coming festivities.

Addressing a public meeting in Jhargram in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district, Banerjee thanked the people for maintaining communal harmony throughout the state during the festive season.

“I thank the people of all the religions living in Bengal to celebrate the festivities with peace, love and togetherness. Bengal has always been a pinnacle of secularism and we shall keep it that way,” Banerjee said.

Referring to the clash of dates this year between Durga Puja, the biggest Hindu festival in Bengal and Muharram, the occasion of mourning for the Muslims, she said it is only Bengal that can celebrate both the occasions with such poise and grace.

“Nowhere else in India such religious occasions of two different communities are observed with so much harmony. Bengalis always enjoy the occasions of festivity without caring about its religious origin,” she said.

Banerjee referred to some sporadic incidents of violence in the state as ‘exceptions’ and cautioned people of the ill effects of communal violence.

“People don’t want riots. Anyone who tries to spark communal tension, would be given stern punishment,” she said.

“I thank the people of Bengal for showing religious tolerance and maintaining an environment of peace and harmony in the state. I hope we will celebrate Chath-Puja, Christmas and other coming festivals too in the same mood,” the Chief Minister said.

 

সম্প্রীতির আদর্শ বাংলা:‌ মমতা

বাংলায় দুই সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষ একসঙ্গে উৎসব পালন করতে পারে। পুজো আর মহরম একসঙ্গে হয়। বুধবার ঝাড়গ্রামে এসে একথা বলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি। এদিন ঝাড়গ্রাম স্টেডিয়ামে ছিল মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর উপস্থিতিতে বিজয়া সম্মিলনী।

সভামঞ্চ থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘‌এই বাংলায় পুজো আর মহরম একসঙ্গে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। একমাত্র বাংলাতেই হয়, এমনটা অন্য কোথাও দেখতে পাবেন না। এটা গর্বের বিষয়। এত ভাল শান্তি-‌সংহতির জায়গা দু‌টো দেখতে পাবেন না।’‌

তিনি আরও জানান, কলকাতায় আমরা পুজোর আগে ও পুজোর পরে সবাই একসঙ্গে মিলিত হতে পারি। জেলার পুলিস সুপার ও জেলাশাসকরা এই কাজটা খুব ভাল করে করছেন। আমি সবসময় জেলার ওপর গুরুত্ব দিতে বলি‌‌। সে দুর্গাপুজো হোক কিংবা কালীপুজো, জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজো হোক কিংবা আদিবাসীদের করম পুজো। সব উৎসবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। কারণ আমরা উৎসবের মাঝে বেঁচে আছি। উৎসবের মধ্যে প্রাণ আছে। উৎসবই সবার ধর্ম, সবার কর্ম।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘‌আদিবাসী ভাইবোনেরা তাঁদের উৎসব পালন করেন। আমরা তাঁদের সেই ঠাকুরের স্থানটার পাট্টা দিচ্ছি। জাহের স্থানেরও পাট্টা দিচ্ছি। গ্রামের শ্মশানগুলোকে সুন্দর করে গড়ে তোলা হবে’।

তাঁর সংযোজন, “ভ্যাটিকান সিটিতে মাদার টেরিজার সন্ত অনুষ্ঠানে গিয়েছিলাম।  ৪ নভেম্বর শান্তিধামও যাব। একটা অনুষ্ঠান আছে। সর্বধর্ম সমন্বয়ের মধ্যে দিয়ে সুন্দর সমাজ গড়ে ওঠে। ভারতবর্ষ ঐক্যবদ্ধ থাকবে, যতদিন সর্বধর্ম সমন্বয় থাকবে।’‌

তিনি বলেন, ‘কলকাতায় যেমন ভিন রাজ্যের লোক আসেন পুজো দেখতে, তেমন বিদেশ থেকেও দর্শনার্থীরা আসেন’। তাঁর সংযোজন, জেলার পুজোগুলিকে বিশেষ দৃষ্টি দিয়ে দেখতে হয়। পরপর পাঁচ বছর দুর্গাপুজো-‌বকরি ইদ একসঙ্গে হয়েছে। মনে রাখবেন সকলে সব ধর্ম নিয়ে এটা বজায় রেখেছেন।

During her first visit to Jangalmahal today, in her second innings as Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for more than 300 projects.

During her earlier visits, too, the Bengal Chief Minister had inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of a number of projects in this sensitive belt of Bengal. During today’s visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated exactly 167 projects and laid the foundation stones for 139 schemes.

She attended a Bijaya Sammilani in Jhargram. She also attended a programme to uphold communal harmony at Ghoradhara Stadium in Jhargram, where she addressed the crowd. The Milan Utsav, as it was called, was attended by 200 Durga Puja committees, 134 Kali Puja committees, 750 clubs, 70 Muslim committees and representatives of Christian, Jain, Buddhist and other religious sects.

Tomorrow she is scheduled to attend an administrative meeting at Jamboni where she will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for more projects.

During her visit to Narayangarh after becoming Chief Minister for the second time, she had inaugurated 32 projects and laid the foundation stones for 14 projects.

A Karma Tirtha, the new building of Silda college, some roads and bridges are waiting to be inaugurated by the Bengal Chief Minister during the meeting at Jamboni High School ground on Thursday.

 

রাজ্যে সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি রক্ষায় আজ অনুষ্ঠিত হল মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সর্বধর্ম সম্মেলন

আজ বুধবার জঙ্গলমহল সফরে এসেছিলেন রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়৷ এর আগে গত জুন মাসে প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ঝাড়গ্রামে এসেছিলেন৷ তবে দ্বিতীয়বারের সরকারে এই প্রথমবার তিনি ঝাড়গ্রাম মহকুমার জামবনি ব্লকে প্রশাসনিক জনসভা করবেন বৃহস্পতিবার৷ এর আগে বুধবার ঝাড়গ্রামের ঘোড়াধরা স্টেডিয়ামে ‘মিলন অনুষ্ঠানে’ যোগ দিলেন৷

বুধবার ঘোড়াধরা স্টেডিয়ামে পুলিশের পক্ষ থেকে ঝাড়গ্রাম পুলিশ জেলার ২০০টি দুর্গাপুজো কমিটি, ১৩৪টি কালীপুজো কমিটি, ৭৫০টি ক্লাব, ৭০টি মুসলিম কমিটি, ৩৪টি চার্চের প্রতিনিধি, জৈন, বৌদ্ধ সম্প্রদায়ের প্রতিনিধিদের ডাকা হয়েছিল৷ আমন্ত্রণ জানানো হয়েছিল রামকৃষ্ণ মঠ ও মিশনের আইন ও গণমাধ্যমের ভারপ্রাপ্ত স্বামী শুভকরানন্দকে৷ তবে চার্চের ফাদাররা উপস্থিত থাকতে পারেন নি৷ কারণ, আজ ছিল আন্তর্জাতিক সোলস ডে (বিদায়ী আত্মার প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা)৷

বুধবারের মিলন অনুষ্ঠান সেজে উঠছিল নানা রঙের লোকসংস্কৃতির অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়ে৷ অন্যদিকে বুধবারের অনুষ্ঠানের পর বৃহস্পতিবার জামবনি ব্লকের জামবনি থানার উল্টোদিকে বাণী বিদ্যাপীঠ হাইস্কুল মাঠে দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসের জঙ্গলমহলের প্রথম প্রশাসনিক জনসভা করবেন মমতা৷ এই জনসভায় মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হাত ধরে ঝাড়গ্রাম মহকুমার প্রায় ২৫ হাজার মানুষ নানা পরিষেবা পাবেন৷

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী উদ্বোধন করবেন মোট ১৬৬টি প্রকল্পের, যার ব্যয় প্রায় ২৮০ কোটি টাকা৷ ১৩৮টি প্রকল্পের শিলান্যাস করবেন যার প্রকল্প ব্যয় প্রায় ১৯৯ কোটি টাকা৷ ইতিমধ্যে জেলায় ২ লক্ষ সাইকেল দেওয়া হয়েছে৷ প্রশাসনিক সভা থেকে সাইকেল দেওয়া হবে ৫ হাজার ১০ জনকে৷ পাট্টা প্রদান করা হবে ১২৩৯টি৷ ৪০০ লোকশিল্পীকে পরিচয়পত্র প্রদান করা হবে৷ কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্পে ২০১০ জন পরিষেবা পাবে৷ আটটি এমন প্রকল্প যেগুলি উদ্বোধন হবে তার প্রকল্প ব্যয় ৫ কোটি টাকার উপরে৷ এর মধ্যে উল্লেখযোগ্য হল বিনপুরে ১৭ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে নার্সিং কলেজ, গোপীবল্লভপুর-২ ব্লকের পোড়াকুসুমে ১১ কোটি ২৭ লক্ষ টাকা ব্যয়ে মডেল স্কুল, কাঁথি থেকে বেলদা রাস্তা সম্প্রসারণ ৬৩ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে৷ গড়বেতায় আইটিআই কলেজ নির্মাণে ৫২ কোটি, খড়গপুর-কেশিয়াড়ি রাস্তা সম্প্রসারণে ৫ কোটি ৩৬ লক্ষ টাকা সহ আরও অন্যান্য প্রকল্প৷ ঝাড়গ্রাম ঘোড়াধরা স্টেডিয়ামে এদিনের মিলন উত্সবের জন্য ৫০ হাজার বর্গফুট এলাকা ঘেরা হয়েছে৷ মূল মঞ্চ ১৪শো বর্গফুট৷ প্রায় তিন হাজার মানুষের বসার ব্যবস্থা হয়েছে৷ থাকবেন শাসক দলের বিভিন্ন জনপ্রতিনিধি৷
