Sunil Kumar Mondal’s supplementary questions during Question Hour on overcrowding in jails and Bengal’s allocation in the modernisation of prisons project
Thank you, hon. Speaker Sir, for giving me this opportunity. Due to lack of a satisfactory answer to my question, through you I would like to ask a question to the hon. Minister. It is seen in various cases that due to lack of judgment procedures and timely submission of chargesheet and inspection report, the number of prisoners is increasing day by day. Compared to the present number of prisoners, the number of prisons is also less. Also, the number of Judges is less, followed by their working days. These factors are also increasing the number of prisoners. So, is the Government planning to take any step in this regard?
