Mamata is on Her Way to Eradicating Visual Pollution

Ms. Mamata Banerjee issued a directive to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to work towards eradicating visual pollution caused by political graffiti throughout the city. According to her, political parties should be allocated specific spaces in different parts of the city where they can carry out their campaigning for a given period of time. In the same breath she also put across her strong disgust on how commercial posters and hoardings have robbed the citizens of their right to a ‘green and clean city’ (to use her own words). ‘Advertisement hoardings should be placed in such a manner that there is no obstruction in between one’s sight and the beautiful skies’, is what Ms. Banerjee asked for from the Mayor of Kolkata.
