Partha Pratim Ray asks a Question on Sainik Schools and Rashtriya Military Schools

Thank you, Madam for allowing me. The objective of the Sainik School is to prepare the students to lead as officers in the defence services of the country and to remove regional imbalance in the officer cadre.
But in West Bengal there is only one Sainik School in Purulia; the second one is going to set up in Darjeeling. It has been said that the Sainik School was originally planned to be set up near Siliguri, but its location was changed later for the benefit of the people of the Hills as well as of the State of Sikkim.
Through you, my specific question to the Minister is, what is the present status of the proposed Sainik School in Darjeeling and when will it start its academic session?
