Chief Minister takes stock of development in Jangalmahal
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee reached Midnapore on Friday as a part of her district visits. Later in the evening she held meeting with Trinamool Congress leaders of West Midnapore district. On Saturday morning the Chief Minister took stock of the development work in a meeting with the senior district officials.
On Saturday the Chief Minister attended the closing ceremony of the `Vivek Chhatra Yuva O Vivek Utsav 2013` at Midnapore Collage grounds. Speaking on this occasion she inspired the youth by giving the example of great men like Master Surya Sena, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Binay, Badal and Dinesh, Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul and requested then to follow their footsteps. She requested the youth to say no to violence and not get way led by the unsocial element. She urged them to have faith in their ability to achieve. `We have two strong arms and zeal to work, what else we need. I can assure you that with these two you can conquer all odds` said the Chief Minister who requested the youth power to indulge their energy for the betterment of society and become a part of the ongoing development.
The Chief Minister slammed those who are doing nothing but wasting their time in criticizing the functioning of the Government. In her message to them she said Bengal will develop and nobody can stop this process. The Chief Minister said that anybody who criticizes her Government must look at Jangalmahal which is a model development as no one could even think of that the Jangalmahal will be ever free of terror and look the way it does today. `Today the area not only has come out of terror and is developing but hundreds of Maoists are gradually coming out of the hideouts and surrendering themselves. 32-Maoists surrendered today in front of the Chief Minister. They were given appointment letters to these Maoists who will be inducted in Police force.
The Chief Minister announced that there will be six-super specialty hospitals in the district. Sick Newborn Care Units (SNCU), and trauma centre will be constructed since the area lacks in good health care facelities. `We will also build National Fiber Centre at Kharagpur and a Gramin Haat at Jhargram`, she added. She said nearly 7,000 boys and girls will get employment if the projects which amount to eight-crore rupees are implemented effectively. There will be one playground each in 11-blocks in the district. She promised that Jhargram will have a stadium. Football clubs like Mohanbagan and Mohammedan Sporting will come to play in Jangalmahal.
She also presented patta and announced a series of projects like Kisan Credit Card, Samajik Mukti Card, Patta, Nijo Bhumi Nijo Griho scheme for the poor people in the area. The school girls staged a colorful march-past and expressed their gratitude for the bicycle gifted to them. The Chief Minister had promised to give the girls bicycle during her first visit after becoming the Chief Minister in July 2011. She said that secondary schools in the region will be converted into higher secondary ones to enable the local students to continue their further studies without leaving their villages and homes for distance places. Scooty were presented to sportswomen for their excellence in the field of sports. Apart from that there will be polytechnics and collages.
On January 16, the chief minister is expected to visit Digha in East Midnapore to kick off the Sea Festival at the coastal town. The tourism department is organising the festival which will be held at both Digha and Mandarmoni.
