Chief Minister on Nadia visit, announces a slew of projects at Haringhata
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee announced a slew of development projects during her public meeting at Haringhata town in Kalyani subdivision of Nadia district. The Chief Minister who is on a district visit to Nadia reached the venue a little early since she will be addressing two public meetings in Nadia. `I have come a little early than schedule since I will have to go to another venue shortly. I at the outset would like togreet you Happy New Year and Makar Sankranti.. The winter is going but I wish that the cold lingers till the Saraswati Puja day which will make the celebrations pleasant`, she said. The Nadia district tour was also important in the wake of forthcoming Panchayat elections in the State.
Speaking on this occasion the Chief Minister said that districts are very important and it was impossible to ascertain actual situation prevailing in these districts by sitting far away at Writers` Building in Kolkata. `I have always maintained that there is you need to interact with the people to know the problems and difficulties in order to explore solution. I have always therefore maintained in carrying mini Writers` with me`, said the Chief Minister who also reiterated her commitment to develop Bengal and said `I have come here to know about your problems. It pains me when I see that people are homeless or many sleep under the open sky on roads. We have already introduced `Nijo bhumi, nijo griho` scheme and I will not accept anybody homeless in my State. I have come with development projects and I assure you my commitment to develop Bengal`. However, the Chief Minister referring to the wrong doings of the CPI(M) during the past 34 years of misrule said, `The work is immense and it is not easy to complete all the work within a short time frame and I feel we need atleast 10-years to undo and bring development in the State since the past regime had done nothing but ruined the development in the State`, she added.
The Chief Minsiter gave away Kisan Credit Card, patta to nearly 2,500 incumbents under Nijo Bhumi Nijo Griho. She said that the Trinamool Congress has done immense in the field of development work within a short span. She distributed bicycles to school girls and scholarships to students. Kisan Credit Cards, Samajik Mukti Cards were also distributed. We have already constructed Minority offices across districts and will soon complete the work in other districts too. We have constituted an Employment Bank and I would request my brothers and sisters to enroll their names irrespective of educational qualifications. You may have studied upto fourth standard or even less but please do not hesitate to enroll your names as you may have expertise in repairing television or in some other fields`. She requested officials to educate people about the Employment Bank and help them to enroll the names`, she added. There will be nearly 782 Anaganwadi in Nadia.  
 
Apart from that she said that every blocks will have a Kisan Bazar, cold storage and  Industrial Training Institutes (ITI). There will be a handloom hub at Nadia.  She inaugurated two-upper primary schools which will impart Ol Chiki education. `We will soon have a gold and silver clusters at Ranaghat and a doll-manufacturing-unit at Ghurmi in Nadia dist`, she said. There will be modernisation of hospitals in the district and equipped with modern health facilities. `Nearly 16-crore rupees will be spent to build a medical hub at Nadia dist. Ranaghat District Hospital will be upgraded by spending an estimated 75-lakh rupees`, said the Chief Minister. There will be more fair-price-medicine shops which will sell medicines at subsidised rates.
 
`I want to assure my youths present here that we will explore many more employment opportunities in the State. We have already introduced various projects and schemes. I want the youths to emulate the footsteps of Swami Vivekananda who saw the dream of a new India emerging from the young fraternity`, said the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister said that Nadia will soon have a large number of employment opportunities once these projects are complete. This will enable a large number of young boys and girls to get employment.  `I have already increased the age limit to apply for Government jobs from 32 to 40 years. For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes the age limit is 45 years and in case of Other Backward Classes and physically handicapped the age limit will be 43 years`, said the Chief Minister.
