Bengal Govt to introduce advanced vocational training in HS schools
The Bengal Government has decided to impart advanced vocational training for skill development in higher secondary (HS) schools, according to the Technical Education Minister. Vocational education is crucial for creating employment opportunities.
As a first step, nearly 2,700 higher secondary schools have been selected for imparting courses in vocational training, of which 700 have been selected for providing courses on advanced vocational training. The advanced training will commence by January 2018.
The advanced courses in the schools would be introduced in a phased manner. It will be of international quality. Students getting more than 50 per cent marks in the training module will get the chance to study directly in the second year of a polytechnic college, provided they crack the entrance examination.
It may be mentioned that students in these advanced training courses will be given the option of two subjects from which they have to choose one.
Presently, vocational training in skill development is offered in as many as six subjects in the higher secondary schools – retail, security, automobiles, information technology (IT), health and wellness, agriculture.

ভবিষ্যতের কর্মসংস্থানের জন্য কারিগরি শিক্ষা খুব প্রয়োজনীয়। তাই, রাজ্য সরকার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক স্কুলগুলিতে উন্নততর বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষা দেওয়ার। এর ফলে ছাত্রদের দক্ষতা বাড়বে।
প্রথম পর্যায়ে, ২৭০০টি উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক স্কুলকে বেছে নেওয়া হয়েছে এই বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষাদানের জন্য। এর মধ্যে ৭০০টি স্কুলকে বাছা হয়েছে উন্নততর বৃত্তিমূলক কোর্স চালু করার জন্য। এই প্রশিক্ষণ ২০১৮ সালের জানুয়ারি মাস থেকে শুরু করা হবে।
স্কুলগুলিতে কয়েকটি পর্যায়ক্রমে এই কোর্সগুলি চালু করা হবে। এই কোর্সগুলি হবে আন্তর্জাতিক মানের। এই কোর্সে যে পড়ুয়া ৫০শতাংশ বা তার বেশী নম্বর পাবে, তারা সরাসরি পলিটেকনিকের দ্বিতীয় বর্ষে পড়ার সুযোগ পাবে। যদিও পলিটেকনিকের ভর্তির পরীক্ষায় তাদের উত্তীর্ণ হতে হবে।
এই বৃত্তিমূলক কোর্সগুলিতে পড়ুয়াকে দুটি বিষয় দেওয়া হবে, যার মধ্যে পড়ুয়াকে একটি বিষয় বেছে নিতে হবে।
এই মুহূর্তে, রাজ্যের উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক স্কুলগুলিতে বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষার যে যে বিষয়গুলিরর প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হচ্ছে, সেগুলি হল, রিটেল, নিরাপত্তা, তথ্য প্রযুক্তি, অটোমোবাইল, হেলথ অ্যান্ড ওয়েলনেস এবং কৃষি।
