700 MBBS seats to be added in medical colleges in Bengal
Around 700 additional MBBS seats will be created by setting up seven more medical colleges in the State, said the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare while presenting the budget for her Department in the Assembly. The construction of five of these colleges is going on in full swing, while that of two others will begin soon.
The five under construction are in Cooch Behar, Raiganj, Rampurhat, Purulia and Diamond Harbour, while the other two will come up in Jalpaiguri and Arambagh. Since 2011, the number of state-run medical colleges has increased to 14.
The Minister mentioned that of the 42 proposed super-speciality hospitals, 39 are already functioning and have been of immense help to the people in the rural parts of the state.Further, as many as 17,925 doctors have been recruited in the past six years.
The Minister also informed the House that the planned budget for the health sector has been increased to Rs 8,773.52 crore during the financial year 2018-19 from Rs 7,603.82 crore during 2017-18. The budget for drugs and medical equipment, part of the total budget, was Rs 857.83 crore during 2017-18, up from Rs 179 crore during 2010-11.
সাতটি মেডিক্যাল কলেজে ৭০০টি ডাক্তারির আসন বাড়াবে রাজ্য
সাতটি নতুন মেডিক্যাল কলেজ তৈরী করে আরও ৭০০টি ডাক্তারির আসন বাড়াবে রাজ্য সরকার। স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ দপ্তরের মন্ত্রী বিধানসভায় বাজেট পেশ করে একথা জানান। এর মধ্যে ৫টি মেডিক্যাল কলেজ নির্মাণের কাজ জোরকদমে চলছে ও বাকি ২টির নির্মাণ খুব শীঘ্রই শুরু হবে।
যে পাঁচটি মেডিক্যাল কলেজ নির্মাণ হচ্ছে, সেগুলি হল কোচবিহার, রামপুরহাট, রায়গঞ্জ, ডায়মন্ড হারবার ও পুরুলিয়াতে। বাকি দুটি তৈরী হবে জলপাইগুড়ি ও আরামবাগে। ২০১১ সাল থেকে এ পর্যন্ত রাজ্যে মেডিক্যাল কলেজের সংখ্যা বেড়ে হয়েছে ১৪টি।
মন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, প্রস্তাবিত ৪২টি সুপার স্পেশ্যালিটি হাসপাতালের মধ্যে ৩৯টি ইতিমধ্যেই কাজ করছে। এই হাসপাতালগুলি গ্রামাঞ্চলে চিকিৎসায় অন্য মাত্রা যোগ করেছে।
প্রসঙ্গত, গত ছয় বছরে ১৭৯২৫ জন ডাক্তার নিয়োগ করা হয়েছে।
মন্ত্রী বিধানসভায় আরও বলেন, এই দপ্তরের পরিকল্পিত ব্যয় ২০১৮-১৯ সালে বাড়িয়ে ৮৭৭৩.৫২ কোটি টাকা করা হয়েছে। যা ২০১৭-১৮ সালে ছিল ৭৬০৩.৮২ কোটি টাকা। ওষুধ ও চিকিৎসার যন্ত্রপাতি বাজেট ২০১৭-১৮ সালে ছিল ৮৫৭.৮৩ কোটি টাকা যা ২০১০-১১ সালে ছিল ১৭৯ কোটি টাকা।
