WB CM slams Centre for not releasing funds for the State
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today chaired an administrative review meeting in Nadia district today at Kalyani. She took stock of all the development projects going on in the district. During a press meet after the meeting, she slammed the Centre for not releasing the funds earmarked for the State.
“The policy of Centre, of not paying the money due to us, is becoming a permanent headache. States are paying 50% share of the funds for Central projects, but the Centre is not paying its share. They owe us Rs 1700 Cr for the 100 Days’ Work scheme,” she said.
Speaking about the debt situation of the State, the Chief Minister said, “We are paying for the sins of the previous government. There is a huge debt burden on us. We have to pay Rs 47000 Cr this yearand Rs 60000 Cr next year against the debts that have accumulated. Policies of the Centre are pushing us towards a debt trap.”
This was the 138th administrative meeting of the West Bengal Government.

দ্বিতীয়বার ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী জেলায় জেলায় প্রশাসনিক বৈঠক শুরু করেছেন। আজ নদিয়ায় একটি প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকের পর সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। রাজ্যের পাওনা টাকা না দেওয়ার কেন্দ্রকে তীব্র ভাষায় আক্রমণ করেন তিনি।
তিনি বলেন, “রাজ্যের পাওনা না মেটানোর প্রবণতা বাড়ছে কেন্দ্রের। বিজ্ঞাপনে শুধু শো-অফ করে কেন্দ্র। কেন্দ্রীয় প্রকল্পগুলিতে ৫০% টাকা দিচ্ছে রাজ্য কিন্তু কেন্দ্র কোনও টাকা দিচ্ছে না। ১০০ দিনের কাজে ১৭০০ কোটি টাকা বকেয়া, সেই টাকা দিচ্ছে না কেন্দ্র।”
রাজ্যের বিপুল ঋণের বোঝা সম্বন্ধে তিনি বলেন, “মাথার ওপর হাজার হাজার কোটি টাকার দেনা, আগের সরকারের পাপের দেনা বহন করছি আমরা। রাজ্যকে ডেট ট্র্যাপের দিকে ঠেলে দিচ্ছে কেন্দ্র। এই বছর ৪৭০০০ কোটি আর আগামী বছর ৬০০০০ কোটি টাকার দেনা শোধ করতে হবে।”
আজ পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের ১৩৮তম প্রশাসনিক বৈঠক ছিল।
