Trinamool forms committees for upcoming municipal polls

Trinamool Chairperson Ms Mamata Banerjee presided over a meeting of the extended Core Committee today, where Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs were also present. After the meeting Partha Chatterjee, Secretary General and senior leader Subrata Mukherjee addressed the press at the Kalighat office.

Partha Chatterjee said that a resolution was passed at today’s meeting to congratulate all the LS and RS MPs who are doing a commendable job in the Parliament. He said,” We will protest against the manner in which BJP Govt is targeting TMC in Rajya Sabha due to lack of majority. The Party will send a delegation led by Derek O’Brien to meet the Vice President on this issue. We will raise the issue of electoral reforms in Parliament.”

New committees have been formed for the upcoming municipal elections. The ongoing membership drive will be extended to every block level. A new booklet with facts will be published against the smear campaign of vested interest groups.

Subrata Mukherjee, senior leader, reiterated Trinamool’s commitment to preserve the secular nature of the land of Bengal. “We accept BJP’s challenge. We will not allow politics of communalism. We will give our lives instead. They are practicing the politics of forced conversions. We will counter them. Indian Constitution is a Secular Constitution. We will not tolerate communal politics.BJP is inciting politics of hate, violence and communalism in Bengal”, he said.
