Mamata Banerjee calls for rally on 20th February

Kolkata 28 Jan: Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee has called for a rally on 20th January in the city with people from the worst-affected parts of West Bengal. Families who have lost their loved ones from Netai, Nandigram, Singur, Mangalkot, Canning, Nanur, Jagatballavpur, Shashan would come in processions and assemble in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue on that day from different parts of the city. Each procession would carry a ‘flame of humanity’. The leader would address the assembled after the processions reach the venue. She would explain the future programme of work at the rally. The political circle in the state thinks it is a significant move by the Trinamool leader to accommodate the people from areas which have seen direct terror from the ‘Harmads’. It is quite clear now, that everything from the massacre at Netai to daily political skirmishes are going to be big issues in the Assembly elections. On Friday, the Trinamool leader also commented that “the reign of terror is increasing day-by-day in the state. We cannot bring all the people who have lost their kin to Kolkata, because the streets of Kolkata would not be able to accommodate them.†She also added that the decision to held the rally on 20th February was taken keeping in mind that it is a Sunday and hence the general public of Kolkata would not face any difficulty in movement, which becomes a big issue if such rallies and processions takes place on a working day. She said that the first procession would come from Netai and the only slogan of the processions would be ‘Nandigram theke Netai, gonohatya-r jabab chai’.
