West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee cut short her Bankura district tour and decided to visit Loba village in the Dubrajpur area of Birbhum district.
Speaking at a public meeting in Loba village, the Chief Minister said, `I strongly condemned the firing and had ordered the transfer of officers-in-charge (OC). I would like to know if the OC has been transferred` asked the Chief Minister. `I would like to request you to make it a point to keep me informed by interacting with your local Trinamool leaders who will convey the same to me`, she added.
The Chief Minister also assured the villagers at Loba village of all possible cooperation and requested not to be confused by the misleading statements of certain sections of the opposition, `I want to assure you that under any circumstances I will stand beside you`, said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister said that Trinamool Congress will always stand firm on its stand of land acquisition issue and can assure the farmers that nobody will be allowed to grab lands forcefully. She requested the farmers to protest against all those who try to scare villagers and spread terror compelling the poor farmers to give their lands. `I am committed to protect the land and I reiterate on what I have been saying in the past. Let me assure you that under no circumstances we will allow land acquisition`.
