Chief Minister at Pundibari in Cooch Behar, announces special social order in soon on the lines of SC/ST
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee who is in on a three-day tour to North Bengal reached Cooche Behar on Wednesday evening and convened a meeting with administrative officials.
On Thursday she addressed a public gathering at Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Pundibari in Cooch Behar.  Speaking on this occasion she said, `There is no doubt that we have huge financial constraints since you know that all the earrings are being taken away by Union government still I have come to you with a bouquet of projects. I am committed to develop the region`.
`I was happy to see the discipline maintained by the girls here and I sincerely appreciate`, said the Chief Minister who announced a 10-lakh rupees grant for the institution.  
The Chief Minister gave away scholarships to students from minority community and girl students. She also presented patta and announced a series of projects like Kisan Credit Card, Samajik Mukti Card, Patta, Nijo Bhumi Nijo Griho scheme for the poor people in the area. She said, `The Panchayat polls will be held anytime next year. Cast your vote in favour of the candidates who you think can do the most for you. Make our men win so that we can flood the region with developmental works`.
 
While highlighting the development of her Government in North Bengal region she said that the small scale industries department has already started work on a jute park to be build at Cooch Behar. Apart from that she announced that a dialysis unit, a burn unit and ICCU would be opened shortly at Cooch Behar hospital. 
She said the state government had decided to create a special social order in Bengal similar to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. Under this social order, poorer sections of the people would get facilities similar to those enjoyed by SCs and STs. 
 
The Chief Minister is scheduled to hold a public meeting at Nagrakata in the Dooars on Friday.
