Trinamool demands the resignation of Retd Justice AK Ganguly as WBHRC Chief
The Chief Justice of India has just made public the findings of the 3 member committee looking into charges against Retd Justice AK Ganguly. The panel has prima facie found him guilty of unwelcome conduct of sexual nature against a law intern on 24.12.2012 while he was Chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission. In light of this, the Trinamool Congress demands immediate resignation of Justice Ganguly to restore the sanctity of the office.
The Party Chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee posted on Facebook on 5.12.2013:
“Today I have already addressed a letter to the Hon'ble President of India for taking appropriate action urgently for the grave misconduct committed by Retd Justice AK Ganguly. Strong action is essential at this moment to enable people to repose trust and faith to the sanctity of the high office he holds.“
Ms. Banerjee sent another letter to the President of India on 6.12.2013 asking for the immediate removal of Justice Ganguly. She posted on Facebook:
“Yesterday, I had written to our Hon`ble President requesting him to take appropriate action urgently against the former Judge Asok Kumar Ganguly for his alleged misconduct.

Today, it is reported in the media that the three-judge Panel of the Hon`ble Supreme Court has indicted him, prima facie, guilty of the charges levelled against him.

On this basis, I have sent another letter today to the Hon`ble President of India for taking urgent necessary action, so that Shri Ganguly is removed from his office at the earliest.“
