Power of appointing Lokayuktas should be with the State govt: Trinamool
Trinamool Congress on Thursday said that it fully supported the Lokpal Bill, but demanded full freedom for state governments to set up Lokayuktas.
`Trinamool Congress fully supports the Lokpal Bill. For Lokayuktas, the state governments must have the full freedom to set up and run them,` Trinamool Congress Chief Whip in Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien said.
Earlier in the day, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said the Lokpal Bill would come up in Rajya Sabha on Friday.
Trinamool Congress had earlier said that the Lokayukta was a state subject and they should be free to decide on it.
