Senior party leaders to supervise Assembly bypolls
Trinamool Congress Chairperson Ms MamataBanerjee engaged some of her senior leaders of the party to supervisepoll-related work in Basirhat South and Chowringhee Assembly seats, that aregoing for by-elections on September 13.
Party leader from Howrah, Mr Arup Roy andRajib Banerjee and Mr Soumen Mahapatra have been engaged for overseeingBasirhat South seat. Trinamool District President of the North 24 Parganas,Jyotipriya Mullick will oversee the whole process.
Kolkata based party Secretary General MrPartha Chatterjee, State General Secretary Mr Firad Hakim, Mr Aroop Biswas havebeen given the responsibility of monitoring the Chowringhee seat along with DrSashi Panha and senior MP and Leader of the Party in Lok Sabha, Mr SudipBandopadhyay. Ms Mamata Banerjee asked the leaders to closely monitor the twoseats.
The Chowringhee Assembly seat fell vacantafter the sitting MLA resigned immediately after the Lok Sabha polls in Maywhile the Basirhat South seat fell vacant after sitting MLA died about twomonths before the Lok Sabha polls.
