Trinamool touches a chord in Lok Sabha – All Opp parties rally around Sudip Banerjee`s appeal for communal harmony

During a discussion on matters of urgentpublic importance in the Lok Sabha, Leader of the party, Sudip Bandyopadhyaytoday spoke on the alarming rise in communal tension across the country. 

Hesaid that India stands on the principlesof communal harmony, secularism and national integrity; we must respect all religions.

“A new government hascome into power.  Government of India,according to me, should remain alert, should remain cautious and vigilant toprevent communal tension. Otherwise safety and security of the common people ofthe country and the secular fabric of this vast country will be under threat,”he said.

He also added thatwhile he appreciated the fact that the honourable Prime Minister offeredprayers at a Nepali temple with 2400 kg of ghee, it was equally expected thatPrime Minister should communicate 'Eid Mubarak' also to the other people.

“We offer pujagreetings at the time of 'Vijaya Dashami' and wish 'Eid Mubarak' at the time ofEid.  Why should there be a difference?”asked Mr Bandyopadhyay.
