C40 World Mayors Summit applauds Bangla’s innovative Sabujshree Scheme

The Bangla Government has created another milestone with the Sabujshree Scheme, the latter having received an overwhelming response at the recently-held C40 World Mayors Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The mayor of Kolkata (also the State Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister) had gone to Copenhagen to accept the C40 Cities Bloomberg Philanthropies Award for the city’s environment-friendly electric public transportation project.

Sabujshree aims at planting a sapling with the birth of every child in the State. Under Sabujshree, a sapling is given to the mother of every child born in a government hospital anywhere in the State.

The saplings given to the mothers are usually of commercially viable trees like mahogany or sal. The parents are requested to nurture the tree like their own children. When the child becomes an adult, the parents are allowed to sell the tree and spend the money on the child’s education.

It is this aspect of the scheme that received widespread recognition at the conference. Mayors of several cities showed interest in how trees can become an asset to a family.

The scheme is the brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and was introduced in 2016.

Centre must not divest profit-making PSUs, merge banks: Didi

The Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress organised a meeting of its members at the Netaji Indoor Stadium today. Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee addressed the attending members.

Highlights of her speech:

Sometimes we have to come together to fight. We many not always get the results we want, but we have to try anyway.

In 2012, 6 Trinamool ministers had left the Manmohan Singh Government in protest against its decision to implement 100% FDI in retail because we believe the cause of the people is more important than holding on to ministries.

Plans are being made to close down Bengal Chemicals; 42 PSUs are being divested; banks are being amalgamated and their headquarters moved elsewhere. Due to this, many bank workers would lose their jobs. Nobody is sure these days of the state of their jobs and of the value of money in the future.

The post offices have no work other than distributing letters about the Central Government’s achievements. Their work is getting reduced.

Even after demonetisation, bank officials worked their hearts out. So what happened to all the money collected? Nobody knows.

After making the banks do its bidding, is this how the Central Government will treat them? The whole banking sector is in a mess.

The armed forces are the best means for protecting the country. Instead of protecting, they are being used to threaten people. People are in the dark about many things. The Centre also wants to privatise the ordnance factories.

Coal is the pride of Bangla; if Coal India is divested 100 per cent, electricity production will be hit hard.

We fear that the Indian Railways, the largest public sector undertaking in the world, will be fully privatised in the coming days.

A conspiracy is being hatched to divest a profitable company like Air India.

It is the duty of the Government to be beside the people in times of hardship. Nobody is paying heed to the people’s problems nowadays.

The television and print media, which have the power to take up the issues being faced by the people, have become deaf and dumb; they are just parroting the Centre’s instructions.

The Centre is trying to incite the people and spreading hatred, just to improve its TRP. And those who love the people are constantly working for their benefits.

SAIL, Hindustan Paper, Chittaranjan Locomotives, Life Insurance Corporation, Haldia Port, Kolkata Port, BSNL are all being planned to be privatised. Things are in a terrible mess.

People have lost their right to speak. That’s why there is a need for them to come together to speak up. Social media platforms should be used to mount protests. People need to think differently in order to launch protests because there is great value in it.

Democracy is our asset. There is democracy in Bangla but many States are suffering for the lack of it.

You saw from the Jadavpur University incident what their attitude is. You cannot use force to keep people in the dark forever.

The people of Asansol and Durgapur voted wholesale for the BJP, yet now the Centre is planning to privatise Chittaranjan Locomotives, ECL, BSNL.

On the part of the State Government, we merged only those companies which were running at a loss. We didn’t take away people’s jobs.

Politics and love for the people of the country are not one and the same in most cases now. One should work for the people once elected, whatever their political affiliations.

Continue your fight the way you are doing it. The hunger strike has been going on for 25 days. There are ordnance factories and banks in other States too but the people are afraid to protest.

Since others are not protesting, it is the people of Bangla who will speak up for the people. Bangla will show the way.

If our fight helps people in other States, we will be happy because we want to progress taking everyone along.

There are three protest programmes before Durga Pujo. I am creating a core group that will coordinate all the protests and meetings, and will also take up the issues in Parliament. The members are Subrata Bakshi, Dola Sen, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Saugata Roy, Derek O’Brien, Subrata Mukherjee, Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, Partha Chatterjee, Pradip da, Malay Ghatak and Purnendu Bose.

She announced the following protest programmes:

Sep 26: Protest meeting in front of Gun & Shell Factory, Cossipore
Sep 27: Protest meeting in front of Coal India headquarters at 1pm
Oct 18: Protest march from Sealdah to Fairlie Place via Esplanade from 1.30pm
48-hour dharna in New Delhi
Post-Oct 18: Protest meetings in Chennai, Mumbai, Bihar and other places across the country

NRC is nothing to be afraid of; it won’t happen, assures Didi

I am requesting you to enlist your names in the electoral rolls so that you are able to vote. There will be no NRC anywhere.

Some people are wrongly bringing a communal angle to NRC, and saying that it is meant to divide Hindus and Muslims. Yet despite that the NRC in Assam has excluded 13 lakh Hindus.

Do not fear NRC. Some TV channels are spreading false news. Don’t watch those channels.

There will be a protest against in the NRC in those places where people have died in fear of it.

We have to fight this battle together. My Pujo greetings to all.

Centre not sending 100 Days’ Work funds on time: Mamata Banerjee

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said in the Assembly recently that the Centre is not giving the money to the State Government for paying the workers under the 100 Days’ Work Scheme on time.

She said that Bangla is the best in 100 Days’ Work, rural road construction and housing for the poor. She said that the Irrigation, Forest, Environment and Fisheries Departments are providing a lot of work in this regard. Three lakh ponds have been dug.

Suggestions of Mamata Banerjee to the Centre:

· If workers under 100 Days’ Work are employed for planting trees, it would increase their incomes
· Those working in the Mid-Day Meal Scheme should also be brought under 100 Days’ Work

Set up task force to detect & take action against tax evasion: Dr Amit Mitra to Union Fin MIn

Flagging concerns regarding many instances of frauds under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, Bangla Finance Minister Dr Amit Mitra has written a letter to the Union Finance Minister asking for the setting up of task force having both State and Central officers to detect all cases of tax evasion and take action against racketeers for recovery of evaded tax.

The letter, dated Tuesday, says that Union Government data presented in the Rajya Sabha last month showed that 9,385 cases of tax fraud involving an amount of Rs 45,682.83 crore has been detected by authorities under the GST regime since its rollout on July 1, 2017.

Even this amount, stated Dr Mitra, is “understated” since it does not include complete data of frauds under SGST, which, if compiled for all States, may show tax evasion of over Rs 1 lakh crore.

In view of this huge loss of tax revenue, the State Finance Minister has requested for the topic of GST fraud and its impact on overall GST collections to be discussed in-depth in the upcoming GST Council meeting.

Dr Mitra has also asked for the compilation of a list of all cancelled GSTINs with PAN, email addresses and other details, to be shared with all officers so that the same fraud is not investigated by multiple agencies.

Another aspect of GST mentioned in the letter is that the new return system with invoice matching needed to be put in place in October (for large taxpayers) and in January (for all taxpayers) “without fail”.

It needs to be mentioned here that the issue of tax evasion had also been broached by Dr Mitra in his letter to the Union Finance Minister on July 1. Among other issues, he had stated that “for want of inbuilt system-based matching, hawala billing and fake trade has grown in leaps and bounds and the realization of tax has suffered.”

Bengalathon 2019: Focus on senior citizen support

The third edition of the highly popular annual hackathon organised by the State Information Technology and Electronics (IT&E) Department, Bengalathon, was launched yesterday, that is, August 15.

The focus this year is on harnessing technology for elderly care, said a senior official of the IT&E Department.

Innovative ideas are also being invited in the areas of face recognition, solid waste management, road safety, health, citizen feedback, water quality monitoring, smart water metering, soil productivity, quick accident response and open data platform.

An example of elderly care using technology is the app-based digital visitor control system that HIDCO is setting up at Snehodiya, the senior citizen’s home in New Town. This will enable security guards at the gate to monitor the entry and exit of all visitors electronically and notify the facility manager or resident by SMS.

Bengalathon is an India-wide competition meant to recognise and promote innovative ideas on tech-based interventions for a better life. Through this competition, the State Government is trying to position Bangla as the best in using emerging technologies to provide solutions for real-life challenges.

TiE, a non-profit organisation, helps in linking the winners to global enterprises, for funding and further technical support.

District sabhadhipatis undergoing training

The Trinamool Congress Government has organised a comprehensive training for district sabhadhipatis from across the State. The training is taking place from August 6 to 8, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town.

The training is being given by senior officers of various departments on all aspects of governance related to zilla parishads, like e-governance, health, education, public works, running panchayats, etc.

Since the responsibility for many crucial work lie with the sabhadhipatis, this training would help in better management of the work related to panchayats.

He promised ‘Achhey Din’, instead Modi has destroyed the country: Abhishek Banerjee at Kaliganj

All India Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Kaliganj in the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha Constituency in Nadia district.

Highlights of his speech:

I welcome all present here today to this rally and showed their support for Trinamool Congress.

If woman power is behind you, no other power can harm you.

There is a huge difference between the elections that were held in 2009 and 2014, and the election being held in 2019.

Our fight is against a power that has been using government agencies like the CBI and ED to spread fear among people. Mamata Banerjee is the only leader who could not be subdued by such threats.

Mamata Banerjee has given the clarion call to drive out the BJP of Bangla.

Bangla is the land of renaissance. Bangla showed the way during the freedom struggle.

Bengal has been the force behind mass movements such as that of Ekushey July, Netai, Singur, Nandigram, Bantala, Dhantala and Keshpur.

Bangla has never tolerated divisive politics.

Bangla is the land of Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar, Matangini Hazra and Ram Mohan Roy. The people of today need to follow that glorious tradition.

Our fight is not only for Ranaghat or the district of Nadia, but for winning all the 42 seats in the State.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose once said, “Give me blood and I will give you freedom,” and Mamata Banerjee has now given the call to win all 42 out of 42 seats to ensure for you a progressive, peaceful, secular and developed India.

We have done a lot of developmental work.

If there is comparison made between Modi and Didi in terms of developmental work, the former will lose badly.

‘Achhey Din’ never came. GST and demonetisation destroyed the country. GDP has dropped by 2%.

The country has become financially bankrupt.

The prime minister of the country is asking for votes in the name of the army, in the name of religion.

They have taken away the savings of the poor during demonetisation. And on top of that, they have built a seven-star party head office in Delhi.

Should the youth vote for such a BJP?

In the name of ‘Acchey Din’, the prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel and kerosene have been increased.

The prime minister used to call himself a tea-seller, now he calls himself a chowkidar. But nobody has seen him selling tea at any time. Our chief minister, on the other hand, is still her humble self – still living in a small, tile-roofed house, from where she governs the 10 crore people of the State, ensuring the wave of development reaches every one of them.

The BJP talks about ‘imam bhata’ (stipend for imams) and ‘moazeem bhata’ (stipend for moazzems) being given out of the money you pay as tax. But that’s a falsehood being spread by them.

That money is taken out of fund of the Waqf Board, as ordered by the Supreme Court of India, and the money you pay as tax, all of it is spent on the various developmental schemes that the Trinamool Government has undertaken.

Mamata Banerjee had decided to give Rs 10,000 as a grant to Durga Puja committees across the State. And what did we see? The BJP, CPI(M) and Congress ganged up the next day and filed a case against us, calling the move Muslim appeasement.

We have respect for all religions. The only religion we follow is humanism. Our job is to ensure that all people get the benefits of government schemes.

The candidates of the other parties are making a lot of promises too. But all of them will be vanquished in the coming days and will never be seen again. .

We have all seen the seasonal insects (‘shyama poka’) that come to our homes during the Diwali period, which fly away after a few days. The same is the case with the BJP leaders who are now promising you so many things.

But Trinamool Congress has always stood beside the people – on all occasions, for every reason, at all times.

‘Acchey Din’’ has come only for the son of Amit Shah, whose company’s income increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 80 crore in one year. People are disgusted because they have lost all their money.

How much black money has been recovered through demonetisation? Nothing.

After the election, the BJP must be driven out – all of us here must take this oath today.

People like Vijay Mallya and Mehul Choksi have fled the country after stealing huge amounts of money from the people in spite of the Chowkidar being present.

Modi is talking about ‘Make in India’ when the car he is using is made in Germany,

The government has funds for a Rs 3,000-crore statue and the bullet train project but not for social schemes.

Should you vote for the people who have terrorised the people of Nadia? The BJP is creating communal tensions between Hindus and the Muslims.

Some people are saying, Hindus are in danger while some are saying, Muslims are in danger. But if one sees things after removing the spectacles of distortion, one will realise that the whole nation is in danger.

The BJP came to power in 2014 with Swami Vivekananda supposedly in their hearts and minds but has not had the intention of giving recognition to Belur Math.

Our current prime minister has taken the country 200 years back.

Therefore vote for Mahua Moitra and through that, ensure that Mamata Banerjee become stronger. Mamata Banerjee is the only solution to all the ills that have befallen the country.

Vote for Trinamool to ensure a secular, progressive govt at the Centre: Abhishek Banerjee at Nabadwip

All India Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Nabadwip in Nadia district.

Highlights of his speech:

We have assembled here, and that too, in this heat, being inspired by the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.

Wherever I have gone, I have asked the people to vote for the Trinamool Congress to help it form the government at the Centre for primarily three reasons – to bring down the cost of cooking gas and fuels, the latter being responsible for the rising costs of essential goods and services; to put an end to the politics of communalism that is playing out across the country; and to ensure that Bangla gets to keep its self-respect.

Today, I ask you to vote for us for another reason too: To see to it that the murderers of your beloved brother, Satyajit is locked up in jail.

We have to give a proper answer to those who have kept us in chains for the last five years.

This fight is between Agnikanya Didi and the secular Modi.

For the people of Bangla, we’ll do everything possible; we’ll never surrender to the scare tactics of Narendra Modi’s government.

Vote for Rupali Biswas, but remember that it is actually for strengthening Mamata Banerjee and helping her oust Narendra Modi from the Centre.

Achhe Din, Rs 15 lakh per person, two crore jobs – have any you reaped the benefits of these, as promised by Narendra Modi? None of you have, I know for sure.

But on the other hand, all of you have got the benefits of the developmental schemes of the Trinamool Congress Government.

The BJP calls itself the saviour of Hindus. But what has it done for them?

The BJP talks about ‘imam bhata’ (stipend for imams) and ‘moazeem bhata’ (stipend for moazzems) being given out of the money you pay as tax. But that’s a falsehood being spread by them.

That money is taken out of fund of the Waqf Board, as ordered by the Supreme Court of India, and the money you pay as tax, all of it is spent on the various developmental schemes that the Trinamool Government has undertaken.

Mamata Banerjee had decided to give Rs 10,000 as a grant to Durga Puja committees across the State. And what did we see? The BJP, CPI(M) and Congress ganged up the next day and filed a case against us.

Therefore, if we want to do anything for Hindus, you try to stop that, and if we want to do anything for Muslims, you call it appeasement.

The Centre unleashed income tax officials on Durga Puja organisers but did nothing to act against the numerous big-spending Ganesh Puja organisers in Maharashtra and Hanuman Jayanti organisers in Uttar Pradesh.

The prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel, and kerosene had all been increased but then suddenly came down a little over the short course of the last couple of months, the reason being the BJP’s loss in some crucial State elections.

Vote for Mamata Banerjee to ensure the formation of a government at the Centre that will bring prices come down further to levels affordable by the common people, and GST rates to levels affordable by small businesses.

Ensure all of you vote, and vote for us, who will ensure further development for you.

Vote for Trinamool to ensure the victory of the great ideals that people of Bangla have always abided by.

The BJP talks about Hindutva. But in that too, the contribution of Bangla is supreme as without Swami Vivekananda, there would have been no Hindutva.

Abolition of sati, education of women and many other social changes were brought about by Bengalis. It is because of people like Swami Vivekananda, Raja Ram Mohun Roy, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar and numerous others, that we as a society are what we are.

The prime minister once called himself a chaiwallah, now calls himself a chowkidar, but he’s neither – on the other hand, Mamata Banerjee is as humble as ever, living in the house before coming to power as well as after.

The NRC has caused lakhs of Bengalis to be removed from the registrar of citizens – if it is promulgated in Bangla, many here in Nabadwip will be affected too.

The prime minister of Pakistan, considered India’s enemy, too wants Modi to come back to power, so do Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and other criminals, things have to such a pass.

Modi is such a chowkidar who has helped criminals like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya to escape from the country.

Do you want to vote for such a party? Therefore, vote for Mamata Banerjee.

With pride I too say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. But we know the real significance of the slogan, and don’t need to be taught anything by the communal BJP.

Trinamool Congress is always by your side – in case of accidents, sickness, for helping in getting benefits of government schemes and for so many other things.

The BJP has never been seen organising blood donation camps or any other social activity.

The BJP wants to impose an alien culture, the culture of Uttar Pradesh, on to Bangla. Therefore, ensure you vote out the BJP and help Mamata Banerjee realise her promise of winning all 42 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in the State.

Your votes are as good as precious jewels for us. Don’t waste your votes in the Congress and the CPI(M). Vote for us as only we can defeat the BJP. And on May 23, you will realise the power of your votes.

I request all of you to vote for Rupali Biswas, and help Mamata Banerjee realise her dream of forming a secular, progressive government at the Centre.

Bangla has shown the road to ‘poriborton’, and will ensure that at the Centre too.

The prime minister and his party want to control everything, even keep track of who eats what in their homes, yet have no information on terrorists bringing RDX into the country and killing jawans with it.

They ask for votes in the name of religion. Yet farmers’ suicides, deaths of children in the hospital in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh mostly involved Hindu people. They seem to care so much of Hindus, yet didn’t give proper recognition to Belur Math, a site of great significance for Hindus.

I too am a Hindu but I follow the real rules of the religion – not the ones preached by the likes of Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath.

Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao

Vande Mataram. Jai Hind.

Bangla will show the way to ‘poriborton’ in Delhi too: Abhishek Banerjee in Bongaon

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee addressed a public meeting today at the Gopalnagar Haripada Institution in Bongaon.

Highlights from his speech:

I begin by congratulating all the leaders who have come here, and the people, for coming here by the thousands, in spite of the heat. Since you have come here in this weather, it can be safely assumed that you have already decided in your minds to uproot the BJP from Bangla, and make Trinamool Congress win.

Mamatabala Thakur is standing from here once again, and I request everyone to help in re-electing her to the Lok Sabha.

Today is Annapurna Puja, and my best wishes are with everyone.

The voting here is on May 6. We can campaign till May 4. Therefore our campaign will continue for the next 20 days. We have to ensure the BJP does not get even a toehold here.

Remember that the fight this time is neither against the CPI(M) nor the Congress; it is between Agnikanya Didi and the communal Modi.

Decide whether you are with Mamata Banerjee or the communal BJP – your votes will determine this.

In the 2016 by-election, the BJP candidate lost, and after that he was never seen doing any work for the people here. But Trinamool is here for all seasons, working tirelessly for the people.

Therefore, vote for ‘Jorahool’ again and help us serve you better.

We help you in every way possible – be it for helping solve any major family problem or calling the fire brigade or ensuring you get your due widow pension or retirement pension or Kanyashree or Yuvashree stipend or Rupashree grant or anything else.

We are with people of all religions – we believes in unity in diversity. Trinamool does not believe in the politics of religion. We are with the people during all their religious celebrations.

The prime minister had come to Thakurnagar a few weeks back, but such was his so-called devotion for the people that he made ‘Harichand Thakur’ into ‘Harishchandra Thakur’ and ‘Matua Samaj’ into ‘Mathua Samaj’.

Mamata Banerjee has done so much for the Matuas – as railway minister, she ensured a railway station at Thakurnagar, and later had a road built till Thakurbari. Recently, she laid the foundation stone of Harichand Guruchand University. We have formed the Namashudra Development Board for the development of the community. We have built in this region superspeciality hospitals, engineering colleges, ITIs, polytechnic colleges, etc.

Our government has bestowed its highest award, the Banga Bibhushan, on Boro Maa. The prime minister met Boro Maa too, but didn’t announce a single award for her.

If we form the government in Delhi, under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, the nation’s highest award will be given to her.

The Central Government has been peddling lies for the last five years.

Trinamool Congress has carried bouquets of development to every corner of the State.

Real Hinduism does not teach divisiveness – rather, it teaches us to have confidence in its basic goodness while at the same time, have respect for the beliefs of other people in their own religions.

We believe in the Hinduism taught to us by Swami Vivekananda, not by Yogi Adityanath.

The BJP has tried to insult Bangla again and again. Not a single paisa has been spent for the development of the State. Mamata Banerjee, on the other hand, despite having to repay the debt accumulated through the loans taken by the CPI(M) government, has spent so much for the State, without imposing a single extra rupee as tax.

The prime minister had promised you all ‘Achhe Din’. I will give you examples of ‘Achhe Din’: price of cooking gas going up from Rs 400 per cylinder to Rs 750, kerosene from Rs 15 per litre to Rs 32, from a 3 per cent tax to 28 per cent GST.

The BJP has realised that misleading people from behind the façade of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants is no longer working.

Bangla is the land of revolts, of protests, of the biggest leaders of the Independence Movement, of the July 21 protest, of Netai, of Nandigram, of Dhantala-Bantala.

Nobody could repress us to submission, and nobody will be able to now.

They are envious of even the name, ‘Bangla’, and that is why for the last two years, they have refused to pass the order for changing the name of the State.

Despite the State Government providing 40 per cent of the funds, the Centre wanted the name of the scheme to be ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’. We could have asked form ‘Mukhya Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’. But we asked only for what was just, that the scheme be named ‘Bangla Gram Sadak Yojana’. They refused. So we unilaterally changed the name and are therefore providing the full funding too.

They are getting scared of our State, Bangla; therefore, throw them out democratically, with the help of your votes.

I had earlier mentioned about the prices going up. The prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, and GST rates, had gone up large amounts. But over the last few months, as the BJP lost elections in five States, the prices came down.

It is for you to decide – whether to vote for a party that wants to divide Bengal or for one that will work three times more for the State.

On May 23 the results will be declared, and a new government will be formed in the following few days.

Now, whether you want the price of cooking gas to go up to Rs 2,000 in one go or petrol to Rs 100 or kerosene to Rs 70 – you have the power to decide that through your votes.

To the youth here I say: Modi had said a few days back to vote with the jawans in mind. He is such a shameless prime minister to say this, use jawans for electoral politics, in fact, such a shameless prime minister has never been known till now.

And do you know who is the candidate standing against Modi in Varanasi? None other than a BSF jawan himself, one who had released a video several months back that had gone vial, that had shown the pathetic quality of food the jawans have to eat every day. And he was sacked from his job as a result of the video. This is the kind of welfare Modi has in mind for jawans.

A few days back, the prime minister of Pakistan had said that he wants Modi to be re-elected as prime minister. And Pakistan is supposed to be our enemy. Therefore our enemy wants Modi as the prime minister. Not just him, but the ISI, Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya, dacoits, rioters and smugglers – all want Modi as the prime minister.

He is a prime minister who has told us lie after lie. Have any of you got the Rs 15 lakh in your accounts as he promised? Don’t work, he’s going to lose power after May 23.

We believe in democracy. If we faithfully follow the directions of our leader, Mamata Banerjee, it will be enough to ensure our victory.

The BJP has not sent greetings even once to the people of the State on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest festival in the lives of Bengalis. Even on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, the BJP did not send any condolences.

The BJP is only interested in fomenting trouble and creating unrest by chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ everywhere.

Our leader has given the call for winning all 42 out of 42 seats, and we’ll win them.

He has hurt you again and again, by increasing the prices of fuels, by imposing high GST rates; now we will answer him in kind by hurting him badly, when we throw him out of power in Delhi.

Therefore, remember to vote for Mamatabala Thakur because remember that by voting for her, you are actually voting for Mamata Banerjee and helping her go one more step towards forming the government at the Centre – a secular and progressive government.

I ask all the first-time voters to think carefully before you cast your votes – whether to vote for development or destruction, for peace or violence, for preserving the respect of Bangla or for helping form a government in Delhi that will force its decisions down our throats.

I appeal to all of you to cast your votes without fear; go out early in the morning and cast your votes. Vote for Mamatabala Thakur.

In the coming days, a government is going to be formed in Delhi that will ensure development in Bangla three times more than what has been happening till now.

Netaji had once said – give me blood and I will give you freedom; now Mamata Banerjee has given the call to Bangla – give me 42 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats, and I’ll give you a progressive and secular government at the Centre.

2019 – BJP finish; BJP hatao, desh bachao

Bangla has shown the way to ‘poriborton’ and now ‘poriborton’ will come in Delhi too.

2019 will see the end of the BJP Govt at the Centre: Abhishek Banerjee at Rajganj

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Belakoba Public Club Ground at Rajganj in the Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha constituency.

Highlights of his speech:

I am warmly welcoming to all of you for coming here to attend our meeting.

Vote for Bijoy Chandra Barman, but remember that you are actually voting for Mamata Banerjee. I am confident when the counting will be done with on May 25, the people will see the BJP wiped out from Jalpaiguri.

Remember that there is a big difference between the 2014 election and this election. In 2014, we had asked you to vote against the corrupt Congress, communal BJP and violent CPI(M).

This time, the entire country has bowed down in fear to the BJP. However, Bangla has remained steadfast in its opposition to the communal-minded BJP.

Mamata Banerjee has proved again and again that Bangla is very strong and in fact, it has always been so – right from the days of the freedom movement, when the people of Bangla have showed their character. The people of the State cannot be swayed by false propaganda.

Since they cannot fight us politically, they have taken the refuge of religion.

I do not believe in dividing people on the basis of religion. I believe in real Hinduism, in the Hinduism preached by the likes of Swami Vivekananda, not in the fake Hinduism of Yogi Adityanath, Amit Shah and Narendra Modi.

I follow the tenets of Hinduism, worship Durga and at the same time, stand beside my Muslim brothers and sisters during Eid and ask for Allah’s blessings.

As a person, I can pray to any god I want, but a an elected representative of the people, my only religion is humanism, and therefore my duty is to see to it that every person receives the benefits of the developmental schemes that form the basis of our rule in the State.

They have been fooling the people over the last five years in the name of ‘Achhe Din’.

There has been no development done in the villages of Bangla by the Central Government. The BJP has only been indulging in communal politics.

Swami Vivekananda had said, “Bohurupe sammukhe tomar, chhari kotha khunjichho Ishwar,/ Jibe prem kore jei jon, sei jon sebichhe Ishwar” [translated as “Where are you looking for God – when he is in front of you in every living being, in many different forms? Those who serve mankind (and any other living being) are serving God”]

Five years ago, Narendra Modi had asked for votes in the name of Swami Vivekananda. If he was really a saviour of the Hindu religion, as he claims to be, why didn’t he give Belur Math the recognition it deserved?

All over the country there are no jobs and so people have no money, but in Bangla, because of Mamata Banerjee, you have everything.

I will say again and again, “Chowkidar chor hain”. I dare Modi to arrest me.

All criminals have only one address, and that is Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP candidate from Cooch Behar is involved in smuggling, for example.

The BJP has said that it will win 22 seats in Bangla but I can bet that we will win all 42 seats, and that will be revealed on May 25.

I am daring the BJP to win even a single seat here.

I have always worked for the good of the people by constantly being by their side, and not been like the BJP leaders, who are only interested air-conditioned comfort.

We have seen that the prime minister is neither a chaiwallah nor a chowkidar – but Mamata Banerjee has always remained genuine, still living in that humble house of hers while managing the welfare of 10 crore people of her State.

The BJP calls itself the saviour of Hindus, but what has it really done?

We used to say the Congress is corrupt from the sky to the ground – referring to the 2G Scam and the Coal Scam. The same can be said of the BJP – there is the Rafale Scam and the Namami Ganga Scam, and others in between.

You have always supported Mamata Banerjee and she has paid you back – Jalpaiguri circuit bench, engineering and medical colleges, ITIs and so many other benefits have come solely as a result of her efforts.
.
I can see 30,000 people here – can any of you say that you have received Rs 15 lakh in your bank accounts? Of course not.

But all of you can say that you have received the benefits of schemes like Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Sabooj Sathi, Rupashree, Sabujshree, Baitarani and others – this is what the government of Mamata Banerjee does.

On Apr 18, when you go out to vote, remember to vote for the right person, vote for the respect and culture of Bangla.

In Gujarat, which is Modi’s State, the BJP won all 26 out of the 26 Lok Sabha seats in 2014, but in the 2017 Assembly elections, they lost so many seats. Therefore, if Gujarat can do it, so can you.

Netaji had once said – give me blood and I will give you freedom; now Mamata Banerjee has given the call for Bangla – give me 42 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats, and I’ll give you a progressive and secular India.

Remember that voting for the CPI(M) or the Congress would be a waste of your money, because the fight this time is between Agnikanya Didi and the communal Modi.

All the surveys are saying that Modi is not coming back to power.

The prices of cooking gas, kerosene, petrol and diesel had gone up by several times a few months back, but over the last two months, as the BJP started losing in State elections, the prices have come down. The price of platform ticket has also gone up – from Rs 2 to Rs 20.

From June 1, after the new government is formed in May, the prices of all these items would come down further and become affordable for the common man once again.

The prime minister is shamelessly using the Army for getting votes. A few days back, he asked the people to vote for his party so that he could protect the army. This is just shamelessly using the soldiers’ deaths as a result of the Pulwama massacre for one’s own advantage.

Do you know the name of any of the people who have stood against Modi in his constituency? You haven’t, because the media is scared to report.

I will say again and again, chowkidar chor hain. I dare Modi to arrest me.

Let me tell you who has stood against Modi. It is the same person, then a BSF jawan, who had released a video that had gone viral, showing the pathetic quality of the food being served to them. He was sacked as a result. He is the person who is fighting Modi.

The prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan has said that he wants Modi. And Pakistan is supposed to be our enemy. Therefore our enemy wants Modi as the prime minister. The ISI, Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya, rioters and smugglers – all want Modi as the prime minister.

And all the hard-working people want Mamata Banerjee as the prime minister. This is the difference between them.

I exhort all the first-time voters of Jalpaiguri to vote for a better Bangla, a better Jalpaiguri, and for the unity and culture of Bangla.

Mamata Banerjee has not imposed a single rupee of extra tax because she can feel for the poor.

Modi doesn’t really feel for the poor. At his rallies, he just repeats word ‘garib’ like some chant, just like he chants the word ‘sena’ without really thinking of their good.

We want air and water as basic elements for survival. The BJP, on the other hand, thrives on creating divisions, and on instigating riots and communal troubles.

The BJP has realised that chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ is no longer working in their favour.

By calling themselves Ram bhakts, the BJP people are actually insulting Ram. The real Ram did a lot of sacrifice, including spending 14 years in exile.

Last year, our government had decided to give Rs 10,000 each to 28,000 Durga Puja committees in the State. Instead of supporting this decision, the BJP, CPI(M) and Congress went to court the next day, terming the move as Hindu appeasement. This is the kind of care and concern they have for the people of the State.

We give ‘imam bhata’ (stipend for imams) and ‘moazzem bhata’ (stipend for moazzems) taking from the Waqf board, as per the directions of the Supreme Court, and not from the tax you pay us.

The money you give as tax we spend for your own welfare, in the form of various development schemes that have changed your lives for the better so much.

The BJP has not sent greetings even once to the people of the State on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest festival in the lives of Bengalis.

If you have your Ram, we have our Durga. But your Ram is now all alone, with only the CBI and ED by his side, while by our Durga stands the entire country, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Your Ram is on his way out, being chased by our Durga.

2019 will see the end of the BJP Government at the Centre.

The two Lok Sabha seats that the BJP had won in Bangla in 2014, they will lose even those two this time.

Darjeeling and Asansol will reject the BJP. True to its form, the BJP has created unrest in both Darjeeling and Asansol.

Prove your true credentials of standing for a united Bangla, by voting out the BJP. Don’t leave even a square inch of space to the opposition.

Like the BJP, I too say ‘Bharat mata ki jay’, but I say it because of my pride for my country, not for achieving narrow communal ends.

Vote for Bijoy Chandra Barman, but remember that you are actually voting for Mamata Banerjee, and therefore for the development of Jalpaiguri and of Bangla in general.

I request everyone to go out early in the morning of April 18 to the polling booths and vote for Trinamool Congress.

I end my speech by paying my respect to everyone – the elderly, the youth, the party workers, the mothers and the sisters.

Jai Hind, Vande Mataram, Trinamool Zindabad, Mamata Banerjee Zindabad, victory to Jalpaiguri, victory to Bangla
