Bangla Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today laid the foundation stone of ‘Darjeeling Hill University’ at a function in Darjeeling, to commemorate Teachers’ Day. This university will come up at Mungpoo.

Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:

Today is the birth anniversary of Dr Radhakrishnan, which is observed as Teachers’ Day. My tribute to all Siksha Gurus on this occasion. They are the pillars of our society, assets of the country.

Today we have honoured 60 teachers with ‘Siksha Ratna’ award and 13 schools have been awarded the ‘Best School’ award. We are also honouring Swapna Barman (who won Gold in Heptathlon at Asian Games). We are a poor government. We have to pay Rs 48,000 crore as instalment for the debt incurred by the previous Left Front Government. Yet, we try our best to help. We have given a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to Swapna’s mother and promised a government job to her brother. If she wants, we will give a government job to her also.

We are formulating a new Sports Policy so that our players can participate in international competitions. We are here to provide all help and cooperation.

Today is a day of pride for Darjeeling. We have laid the foundation of ‘Darjeeling Hill University’ today. We will name this campus after Tenzing Norgay. Another campus will come up which will be named after Kanchenjunga. One more campus will be named after Bhanu Bhakta ji.

The engineering college here will be connected to this university. We are setting up an education hub at Kurseong. Presidency University is also setting up a campus here. An education hub is coming up at Kalimpong also.

We have allocated 25 acres of land for ‘Darjeeling Hill University’. The subjects that will be taught here include, humanities, social sciences, media science, information technology, vocational training, tourism, travel management, tea management, horticulture, Himalayan Studies etc. The university will award diploma certificates also.

We have set up 23 universities in the last seven years, nine more are coming up. Foundation stone for a university named after Gandhiji will be laid on his birth anniversary. We are setting up a Greenfield university at Hooghly. Bishwa Bangla University is coming up at Bolpur. New universities are coming up Alipurduar and Jhargram also.

These new universities will help us spread the light of education. Students will no longer need to go outside to study. Darjeeling is known for its education infrastructure. Even the Prime Minister of Bhutan once told me he studied at Graham’s Home.

The police here is conducting a community development programme called ‘Rising Star’ – it is a commendable effort. Darjeeling is known for its talented music and dance performers. We have decided to organise a cultural festival in Darjeeling in 2019 with all the Asian countries.

We have distributed cycles to 1 crore students of classes IX to XII. Since it is difficult to ride a cycle in the hilly areas, we have decided to distribute school bags and raincoats to 28,000 students in the Hills. No one will be deprived.

Many new roads have been created in Darjeeling. The Hills are very close to my heart. We have formed a committee for the development of this region. They will prepare a report within six months with short term, mid-term and long term plans for development. We will explore ways of increasing employment opportunities, home tourism, industry, software, IT. I am confident this committee will be successful.

We started home tourism in Lamahatta for the first time. Thrust needs to be given to this sector. I would request the boards to construct 500 houses every year (instead of 1000) and spend rest of the funds for boosting home tourism.

Today we have given forest rights to 431 people for the first time. Land conversion will happen soon. This will solve a lot of problems.
I also had a talk with the chairman of Darjeeling municipality. I urged him to renovate the public clocks in the town. Lal Kothi will also be beautified. The Gandhi road in Darjeeling will be paved with paver blocks. Pedestrians will benefit because of that. Take small initiatives, make big impact.

I want Darjeeling Hills to prosper. I want you to stay happy. I want to see Darjeeling smiling, Kurseong smiling, Mirik smiling, Kalimpong smiling and Kunchenjunga smiling.

Nature is your biggest asset. You do not have to beg before others. Take a resolve to utilise your own resources and march ahead with pride. My best wishes to all.

The North Bengal Development Department has undertaken the construction of Rajrajeshwari Hall in Kurseong.

The heritage — Rajrajeshwari Hall had been torched during the political unrest in the Hills in 2017.

The Rajrajeshwari Hall under the Bengali Association of Kurseong has a rich history. Rai Bahadur Sashi Bhusan Dey had started a Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Kurseong, in memory of his late son who had died from this disease.

While he was in Kurseong, the local Bengalis approached him for his patronage in constructing a Hall for the Bengali Association to meet. Being a philanthropist, he built the Rajrajeshwari Hall in the name of his wife just below the TB Sanatorium. Thus, it was built in 1930.

Along with this, the department has also taken up the project of constructing a Subash Ghising memorial community Hall in Kurseong.

 

Bengal Khadi Board to revive Kalimpong Crafts

West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) has taken up a plan to revive the handicrafts made in the Hills region, popularly known as Kalimpong Crafts. A fund of Rs 2.8 crore has already been earmarked for this.

Due to the lack of support by the earlier GTA administration, a number of people associated with these crafts have shifted to other places and have taken up other vocations. The new board of GTA is eager for the revival of the crafts as they are part of the heritage of the Hills.

The organisation is setting up Arts and Handicraft Development Centres (HDC) in places like Kurseong, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Sipaidhura, Sukhiapokhri and a few others to provide a platform for the crafts-makers in marketing their products in a much better way.

As per the arrangements for revival, WBKVIB will groom the craftspeople to take up work at these HDCs. Counters will be set up beside these Centres for the display and sale of their products.
Kalimpong is famous for the weaving of Tibetan woollen carpets.

Then, there are the bronze figures made using wax moulds. The artisans are also skilled at making beautiful cane baskets of various designs and shapes.

 

কালিম্পঙ ক্র্যাফটকে পুনরুজ্জীবিত করতে উদ্যোগী খাদি বোর্ড

 

পাহাড়ে তৈরী হস্তশিল্পের পুনরুজ্জীবনের জন্য উদ্যোগী হল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ খাদি ও গ্রামোদ্যোগ বোর্ড। কালিম্পঙ ক্র্যাফট নামে পরিচিত এই হস্তশিল্পের প্রসারের জন্য ইতিমধ্যেই ২.৮ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে।

পূর্বতন জিটিএ প্রশাসনের অবহেলায় এই শিল্পের সঙ্গে জড়িত অনেকেই এখন জীবিকা নির্বাহের জন্য অন্য পেশা বেছে নিতে বাধ্য হয়েছেন। নতুন জিটিএ বোর্ড পাহাড়ের হেরিটেজ হিসেবে এই শিল্পের পুনরুজ্জীবনের জন্য উদ্যোগী হয়েছে।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ খাদি ও গ্রামোদ্যোগ বোর্ড কার্শিয়ং, কালিম্পং, দার্জিলিং, সুখিয়াপোখরি ও অন্য কয়েকটি জায়গায় আর্টস অ্যান্ড হ্যান্ডিক্রাফটস ডেভেলপমেন্ট সেন্টার তৈরী করছে। এখানে শিল্পীরা তাদের তৈরী হস্তশিল্প বিপণনের সুযোগ পাবেন। এখানে বিক্রয় কাউন্টার তৈরীর পাশাপাশি হস্তশিল্প প্রদর্শনের আলাদা জায়গা থাকবে।

তিব্বতি ধাঁচে তৈরী কালিম্পঙের উলের কার্পেট খুবই বিখ্যাত। এছাড়াও, এখানকার মোমের ছাঁচে তৈরী ব্রোঞ্জের মুর্তি ও নানা ধরণের বেতের ঝুড়িও বিখ্যাত।

Ever since assuming office, the development of the Hills has been a top priority for Mamata Banerjee. Unlike her predecessors, she visits the Darjeeling Hills very often, and has taken several initiatives for the welfare of the people of the region.

The Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) Act was notified in 2012. Thirty-five departments of the State Government have notified the setting up of their offices under GTA. More than Rs 3,925 crore has been allocated from the Hill Affairs Department for the Hills since then.

The situation in the region has remained peaceful due to the sustained efforts on the part of this government. Developmental measures aimed at benefiting the people in the Hill areas and Dooars have culminated in significant socio-economic improvement of the people residing in these areas.

 

Here are some of the development initiatives:

A. New District

  • Notable among the steps taken is creation of a separate district of Kalimpong and a separate sub-division of Mirik.

 

B. Development Boards

  • Sixteen development boards have been formed for the indigenous communities of the Hills and nearly Rs 320 crore has been disbursed to them for various developmental activities including the preservation and promotion of their ancient culture and traditions.

 

C. Infrastructure:

  • Renovation of NH-55 between Tindharia and Paglajhora and NH-10 between Sevoke and the Sikkim border, which were badly damaged due to landslides. has been taken up.
  • The construction of AH-2 and AH-48 is underway, which will improve the connectivity of Bengal with Sikkim, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
  • Construction of Bailey bridge at Bijanbari, Darjeeling has been completed.
  • Construction of two-storey building of Garidhura Police Outpost in Kurseong completed.
  • Special repair and renovation of Richmond Hill ( official residence of Chief Minister) in Darjeeling has been completed.

 

D.Tourism

  • In Kalimpong, eight cottages have been constructed within the premises of Morgan House Tourist Lodge.
  • NBDD, in collaboration with the Tourism and Forest Departments has established a tourism hub at Lamahata, Darjeeling district.
  • Two Cultural Tourism Centres are being developed in Kalimpong-I and Sukhiapokhri blocks for focusing of Lepcha culture and heritage.
  • One hundred-bedded youth hostel is under construction in Kalimpong.
  • Four executive class buses for foreign tourists as well as four small vehicles for local sightseeing have been introduced at a cost of Rs 2 crore.
  • In Darjeeling, an eco-friendly tourist lodge is being developed at Tiger Hill. The Siliguri Royal Tiger Safari has been introduced, which will be the first tiger safari in Bengal.

 

E. Education

  • Model schools in Sukna, Mongarjung and RKSP in Darjeeling district have been established. The model Schools have been commissioned.
  • Two degree colleges have been established in Pedong and Gorubathan.
  • An ITI and a polytechnic college are being built up in Kalimpong. Another ITI is being set up at Gorubathan.
  • In Kurseong, Dow Hill is being developed as an education hub. The Himalayan Centre of Presidency University is also being established at the same place.

 

F. Health

  • In Kalimpong, one high-dependency unit (HDU) has been set up. Eight SNSUs have been set up in the district of Darjeeling. Two CCUs have been established in Siliguri and Darjeeling.
  • Four fair price medicine shops have been set up in Darjeeling, Siliguri, Kurseong and Naxalbari.
  • In Kurseong, a medical college is being set up. Moreover, four sub-centres are ready to be commissioned.

 

G. Other initiatives

  • The government has decided to lay emphasis on eco and village tourism, setting up of new health centres, agriculture and horticulture as well as skill development schemes in the areas of hospitality, security services (unarmed), handloom, handicrafts etc.
  • The Himal-Terai-Dooars sports festivals are being held to encourage the youth of the region to participate in sports and games.
  • Rs 182.06 lakh allotted to Ram Krishna Sewa Ashram for the renovation of Roy Villa in Darjeeling. Memoirs of Sister Nivedita, during her stay at Darjeeling, and other valuable records have been kept there.
  • Residents of the Hills, including both workers and non-workers and their families of the tea gardens, have been included in the Khadya Sathi Scheme through which they get foodgrains at highly subsidised rates.

 

সাত বছরে পাহাড়ের সার্বিক উন্নয়নঃ এক নজরে

বিগত ৩৪ বছরের বাম আমলে কার্যত পাহাড় ছিল অবহেলিত। না ছিল কোনও উন্নয়নের প্রকল্প, না ছিল উন্নয়ন করার কোনও সদিচ্ছা বা পরিকল্পনা। ২০১১ সালে ক্ষমতা বদল হয়ে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস শাসনভার গ্রহণ করার পর থেকে পাহাড় হাসছে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় পাহাড়ের উন্নয়নকে পাখির চোখ করে একের পর এক প্রকল্প নেওয়া হয়েছে, পাহাড়ের পিছিয়ে পড়া মানুষগুলোকে এগিয়ে আসার সুযোগ করে দেওয়া হয়েছে।

২০১২ সালে জিটিএ অ্যাক্টের বিজ্ঞপ্তি প্রকাশ করা হয়। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের ৩৫টি দপ্তর জিটিএ অ্যাক্টের অধীনে নিজেদের অফিস তৈরীর কথা ঘোষণা করেছে।
পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের পার্বত্য বিষয়ক বিভাগ গত ছয় বছরে পার্বত্য এলাকার উন্নয়নের জন্য ৩৯২৫ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করে।

সরকারের দীর্ঘকালীন প্রচেষ্টার ফলে দার্জিলিং জেলা ও ডুয়ার্স অঞ্চলের পরিস্থিতি বর্তমানে স্বাভাবিক। উন্নয়নমুখী নানা প্রকল্পের ফলে পার্বত্য অঞ্চলের মানুষের আর্থ-সামাজিক পরিস্থিতি আগের চেয়ে ভালো হয়ে উঠেছে। ফলে সমগ্র অঞ্চলে বর্তমানে শান্তির পরিবেশ বজায় রয়েছে।

 

একনজরে দেখে নেওয়া যাক গত ছয় বছরে পাহাড়ের উন্নয়নের জন্য নেওয়া সরকারের কিছু পদক্ষেপঃ-

নতুন জেলা

  • একটি উল্লেখযোগ্য পদক্ষেপ হিসেবে কালিম্পং-কে একটি পৃথক জেলা ও মিরিক-কে পৃথক মহকুমা হিসেবে ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।

 

বোর্ড গঠন

  • স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠীগুলির উন্নয়নের কথা মাথায় রেখে ১৬টি বোর্ড গঠন করা হয়েছে। প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্য ও সংস্কৃতি সংরক্ষন-সহ অন্যান্য উন্নয়নমুখী প্রকল্পে ইতিমধ্যেই ৩২০ কোটি টাকা প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

 

পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়ন

  • পার্বত্য এলাকায় সড়ক পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে সরকার বিশেষ গুরুত্ব আরোপ করেছে।
  • ধসে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত তিনধরিয়া এবং পাগলাঝোরার মধ্যবর্তী ৫৫নম্বর জাতীয় সড়ক, সেবক ও সিকিমের মধ্যবর্তী ১০ নম্বর জাতীয় সড়কের সংস্কার চলছে।
  • এএইচ ২ এবং এএইচ ৪৮ এর নির্মাণের কাজ চলছে। এই দুটি সড়ক চালু হলে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের সঙ্গে সিকিম, নেপাল, বাংলাদেশ এবং ভুটানের যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থার প্রভূত উন্নতি হবে।
  • দার্জিলিঙের বিজনবাড়িতে বেইলি সেতুর নির্মাণকাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।

 

পর্যটন

  • পার্বত্য অঞ্চলে পর্যটন শিল্পের বিকাশের জন্য পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার চেষ্টা করে চলেছে।
  • কালিম্পং-এ মর্গ্যান টুরিস্ট সংলগ্ন এলাকায় ৮টি কটেজ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • লেপচা সংস্কৃতির ঐতিহ্যকে কেন্দ্র করে কালিম্পং-১ এবং সুখিয়াপোখরি ব্লকে ২টি সাংস্কৃতিক পর্যটন কেন্দ্র গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • কালিম্পং-এ ১০০টি আসনসম্পন্ন একটি ইয়ুথ হোস্টেল তৈরী করা হচ্ছে। নতুন পর্যটন কেন্দ্র গড়ে তোলার কাজে ইতিমধ্যেই ২৯.৪ কোটি টাকা ব্যয় করা হয়েছে।
  • ২কোটি টাকা খরচ করে বিদেশী পর্যটকদের সুবিধার্থে ৪টি একজিকিউটিভ শ্রেণীর বাস এবং স্থানীয় জায়গাগুলি ঘুরে দেখার জন্য ৪টি ছোট গাড়ি কেনা হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিঙের টাইগার হিলে একটি পরিবেশবান্ধব টুরিস্ট লজ গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে।
  • পশ্চিমবঙ্গের প্রথম টাইগার সাফারি হিসাবে শিলিগুড়ি রয়্যাল টাইগার সাফারি গড়ে উঠেছে।
  • দার্জিলিং-এর লামাহাটায় উত্তরবঙ্গ উন্নয়ন বিভাগ, পর্যটন ও বোন দপ্তরের সহায়তায় একটি পর্যটন হাব স্থাপন করেছে এবং সেটি মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ২৭শে জানুয়ারি ২০১৩-এ উদ্বোধন করেছেন।
  • কালিম্পং-এ মর্গ্যান হাউস, হিলটপ এবং তাসিডাঙা টুরিস্ট লজের মেরামতি ও সংস্কার কাজ এবং জলদাপাড়া ও মূর্তিতে তাঁবু তৈরীর কাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।

 

শিক্ষা

  • সুকনা ও মোঙ্গরজঙেম, ডেলস্কুল, দার্জিলিং-এ আরকেএএসপি গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • ২০১৭-১৮’র শিক্ষাবর্ষে মডেল স্কুলগুলিতে পঠন-পাঠন চালু হবে।
  • পেডং এবং গরুবাথানে দুটি ডিগ্রী কলেজ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • কালিম্পং-এ একটি নতুন আইটিআই এবং একটি পলিটেকনিক কলেজ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে। গরুবাথানে আরও একটি আইটিআই তৈরীর কাজ চলছে।
  • কার্শিয়াং-এর ডাওহিলকে একটি শিক্ষাকেন্দ্র হিসাবে গড়ে তোলার কাজ চলছে। এই অঞ্চলে প্রেসিডেন্সি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের হিমালয়ান সেন্টার গড়ে তোলার কাজ চলছে।

 

স্বাস্থ্য

  • কালিম্পং-এ একটি হাই ডিপেনডেন্সি ইউনিট (HDU) গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিং জেলায় ৮টি এসএনএসইউ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • শিলিগুড়ি এবং দার্জিলিং-এ ২টি সিসিইউ গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিং, শিলিগুড়ি, কার্শিয়াং এবং নকশালবাড়িতে ৪টি ন্যায্য মূল্যের ওষুধের দোকান তৈরী করা হয়েছে।
  • কার্শিয়াং-এ একটি নতুন মেডিক্যাল কলেজ গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে। পাশাপাশি ১০০ বেডের ইএসআই হাসপাতাল গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে শিলিগুড়িতে। এছাড়াও ৪টি উপকেন্দ্র কাজ শুরুর অপেক্ষায় রয়েছে।

 

অন্যান্য কর্মসূচি

  • স্থানীয় ছেলেমেয়েদের খেলাধূলায় উৎসাহ দেওয়ার জন্য হিমল-তরাই-ডুয়ার্স ক্রীড়া উৎসব অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিং-এর রায়ভিলার সংস্কার কাজের জন্য রামকৃষ্ণ সেবা আশ্রমকে ১৮২.০৬ লক্ষ টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। দার্জিলিং-এ থাকাকালীন ভগিনী নিবেদিতার স্মৃতি এবং অন্যান্য মূল্যবান রেকর্ডসমূহ সেখানে রাখা হয়েছে। এটি দার্জিলিং-এর ভ্রমণ ম্যাপের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করার প্রস্তাব দেওয়া হয়েছে।
  • দার্জিলিং-এর কার্শিয়াং-এ টয়লেট ব্লকসহ গাড়িধুরা পুলিশ ফাঁড়ির দোতলা ভবনের নির্মাণকাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।

The Bengal Government will soon start providing more facilities to the tea garden workers, who have been facing a lot of hardship because of the forced closure of the tea gardens till a few months back.

The situation has been improving steadily, and now the government has decided to extend further help in the form of opening a health centre, a modified ration shop (MR shop), which is essentially a fair-price shop, and a labour office in each tea garden.

The three will be housed in a three-storey building, for constructing which the State Government will give Rs 8.77 lakh to each tea garden. Foodgrains which could not be distributed due to the 104-day closure of the gardens would be distributed at the earliest.

The government will also construct four warehouses to stock foodgrains in Darjeeling, Kurseong, Mirik and Kalimpong. In case foodgrains fail to arrive from the plains during emergencies like natural calamities, the public distribution system (PDS) will continue to operate with the help of the existing stock in these four storages.

Over the last year or so, following the special initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the State Government has provided a lot of help to the tea garden workers, including providing foodgrains at special prices, lesser than the normal prices at ration shops under the public distribution system (PDS).

চা বাগান কর্মীদের জন্য একগুচ্ছ উদ্যোগ রাজ্যের

রাজ্যের চা বাগান কর্মীদের জন্য একগুচ্ছ নতুন উদ্যোগ নিতে চলেছে রাজ্য সরকার। চা বাগান বন্ধ থাকার দরুন কর্মীদের যে সমস্যা হয়েছে তারই নিরসন করতে উদ্যোগী সরকার।

গত কয়েক মাসে কিছুটা হলেও অবস্থার উন্নতি হয়েছে এই বাগানগুলিতে। এদের আরও সাহায্য করতে রাজ্য সরকার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে বাগানগুলিতে একটি করে স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র, রেশনের দোকান, এবং লেবার অফিস খোলার।

এই তিনটি কেন্দ্রই খোলা হবে একটি ভবনে। এই ভবন নির্মাণের জন্য রাজ্য সরকার ৮.৭৭ লক্ষ টাকা করে দেবে প্রত্যেকটি চা বাগানকে।

অতি শীঘ্রই খাদ্যশস্যও বিতরণ করা হবে কর্মীদের মধ্যে। দার্জিলিং, কার্শিয়ং, মিরিক ও কালিম্পঙে খাদ্যশস্য যোগানের জন্য ৪টি গুদামও তৈরী করবে রাজ্য।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় চা বাগান কর্মীদের দুটাকা কেজি চাল দেওয়া হয় খাদ্য দপ্তরের তরফে।

After the success of Sufal Bangla in the districts of south Bengal and in Kolkata, the State Agriculture Marketing Department is going to open Sufal Bangla outlets in Kurseong, Kalimpong and other parts of north Bengal.

Besides Kurseong and Kalimpong, Sufal Bangla stalls will also come up in Siliguri (two stalls), Jalpaiguri, Raiganj, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar. All the stalls in north Bengal are expected to become operational by November.

It may be mentioned that the Sufal Bangla stalls have been introduced to ensure that common people get fresh vegetables at the correct price. The stalls are mainly run by different farmers’ producers’ organisations (FPOs), who collect the vegetables directly from farmers. Thus the stalls benefit farmers as well as the common people – the former because they do not need to depend on middlemen and hence get to keep the entire amount from selling their produce.

At present, there are 19 permanent Sufal Bangla stalls and 48 mobile stalls, 22 of the latter having been introduced just ahead of Durga Puja. According to an official of the Agriculture Marketing Department, during the days of the Durga Puja, the total turnover of the Sufal Bangla stalls had gone up, so much so that operators had to stock vegetables twice a day.

The Agriculture Marketing Department has set a target of establishing 100 Sufal Bangla stalls all across the state by the end of the current financial year, that is, March 2018.

দক্ষিণবঙ্গে অভূতপূর্ব সাফল্যের পর রাজ্যের কৃষি বিপণন দপ্তর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে কার্শিয়ং, কালিম্পং ও উত্তরবঙ্গের অন্যান্য জায়গায় সুফল বাংলার স্টল খোলার। স্টল খোলার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় সমস্ত পদক্ষেপ নিচ্ছে কৃষি বিপণন দপ্তর।

কার্শিয়ং, কালিম্পং-এর পাশাপাশি শিলিগুড়ি, জলপাইগুড়ি, রায়গঞ্জ, কোচবিহার, আলিপুরদুয়ারেও খুলবে সুফল বাংলা বিপণি। শিলিগুড়িতে খুলবে দু’টি স্টল। পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী নভেম্বরে এই স্টলগুলির খুলে যাওয়ার কথা।

প্রসঙ্গত, সুফল বাংলা বিপণি খোলা হয় সাধারন মানুষকে ন্যায্য মূল্যে তাজা সবজি বিক্রি করার জন্য। সরাসরি চাষিদের থেকে সবজি কিনে সুফল বাংলা কেন্দ্রে তা বিক্রি করা হয়। এর ফলে কৃষকরা তাদের ফসলের ন্যায্য মূল্যও পান।

এই মুহূর্তে, দক্ষিণবঙ্গে মোট ১৯ টি স্থায়ী এবং ৪৮ টি ভ্রাম্যমাণ সুফল বাংলা স্টল আছে। এর মধ্যে পুজোর আগে ২২ টি ভ্রাম্যমাণ স্টল শুরু করা হয়। দপ্তরের লক্ষ্য আগামী বছর মার্চ মাসের মধ্যে এই সংখ্যা ১০০ তে নিয়ে যাওয়ার।

Trinamool Congress swept the municipal polls held in seven municipalities, winning in Mirik , Domkal, Pujali and Raiganj. People of Bengal have yet again reposed their faith on the development initiatives of Mamata Banerjee.

For the first time in decades, a party which is not based in the Hills has won majority in a municipality of the Hills. Trinamool won Mirik municipality and won several seats in Kurseong, Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

Trinamool retained their hold on Pujali municipality and wrested Raiganj municipality from Congress. Domkal, which is a new municipality, also came this way.

The people of Bengal have yet again rejected the opposition forces and ploys to play divisive politics.

 

After the results were declared Mamata Banerjee tweeted:

Congratulations to Ma Mati Manush for again & again putting their trust in us. We are honored, privileged & humbled.

Congratulations to my brothers/sisters in hill areas of Darjeeling Kurseong Kalimpong Mirik for participating in the democratic process.

সাত পুরসভার ভোটেও তৃণমূলের জয়যাত্রা অব্যাহত

সাতটি পুরসভার ভোটের ফলাফল বেরোতেই পাহাড় থেকে সমতল সব জায়গাতেই তৃণমূলের জয়জয়কার। সাতটির মধ্যে ৪টি পুরসভায় বিপুল ব্যবধানে জয়ী তৃণমূল। সমতলে পূজালি, রায়গঞ্জ ও ডোমকলে জয়ী দল।

পাহাড়ে এই প্রথম খাতা খুলল তৃণমূল। মিরিক পুরসভার দখল নিল দল। কার্শিয়ং, দার্জিলিং ও কালিম্পঙেও খাতা খুলেছে তৃণমূল।

বাংলার মা, মাটি, মানুষ আবারও বিরোধীদের কুৎসার রাজনীতিকে নস্যাৎ করে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উন্নয়নকেই বেছে নিলেন।

নির্বাচনের ফলাফল ঘোষণার পর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী টুইট করে মা-মাটি-মানুষকে অভিনন্দন জানান।

আমাদের ওপর আস্থা রাখার জন্য মা-মাটি-মানুষকে ধন্যবাদ। দার্জিলিং, কালিম্পং, কার্শিয়াং, মিরিকের ভাই বোনেদেরও আমার শুভেচ্ছা। আমাদের ওপর বিশ্বাস রাখার জন্য মিরিককে বিশেষ ধন্যবাদ। আমরা আপনাদের জন্য কাজ করব। কয়েক দশক পর পাহাড়ে এক নতুন অধ্যায়ের সূচনা হবে। পাহাড় হাসছে।

Today Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced Kalimpong as 21st district of the State.

“I am in the Hills because Kalimpong is becoming a new district. In April, Jhargram and Asansol will become districts,” she said on Monday.

The State Government recently created 15 development and cultural boards for different hill communities. The boards are to ensure all-round development of these communities.

On December 18, 2015, the West Bengal Cabinet gave a nod to the formation of Kalimpong district and Mirik sub-division.

At today’s public meeting, the CM laid the foundation stones several developmental projects including the development of Nature Interpretation Centre at Kalimpong, renovation of roads, Anjuman-E-Islamia Community Hall in Kurseong, Subhas Ghising Memorial Community Hall in Dow Hill, renovation of Raj Rajeshwari Hall in Kurseong, renovation of infrastructure in Naxalbari.

  • We will take up a new water supply project for Kalimpong
  • We will develop the Kalimpong-Sikkim Silk Route at a cost of Rs 220 crore
  • Those who indulge in violence do not want peace in the Hills
  • We don’t want violence in Hills.We believe unity is strength.Will not tolerate if someone tries to incite violence
  • Those who cannot fight us politically try to incite violence. We will not allow any violence between any community

২১তম জেলা হিসেবে আত্মপ্রকাশ করল কালিম্পঙ

আজ কালিম্পঙের মেলা গ্রাউন্ডে মঞ্চে দাঁড়িয়ে মমতা কালিম্পংকে নতুন জেলা হিসেবে ঘোষণা করলেন। শহর আবেগে ভাসছে। চারদিকে পতাকা–‌ফেস্টুন যেন উৎসব শুরু হয়েছে।

সোমবার সন্ধ্যায় কালিম্পঙে ঢোকার মুখে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে অনেকেই অভিনন্দন জানান। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হাত নাড়িয়ে তাঁদেরও পাল্টা অভিনন্দন জানান। রাস্তার দু’‌ধারে ছিলেন অসংখ্য মানুষ। শহরকে সুন্দর করে সাজিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে। চারদিকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর ছবি দেওয়া হোর্ডিং, তোরণ।

মহকুমা শাসকের অফিসে বসেই আপাতত নতুন জেলার কাজ হবে। এই বাড়িটি সংস্কারের কাজ হচ্ছে। ২০১১–‌য় ক্ষমতায় আসার পর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বহুবার কালিম্পঙে এসেছেন। চারিদিকে ঘুরেছেন। কালিম্পংকে আরও সাজিয়ে তোলার ইচ্ছে আছে তাঁর।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বহুবার বলেছেন তিনি পাহাড়কে কিছুতেই ভাগ হতে দেবেন না। ২০১১–‌র পর থেকে এ পর্যন্ত মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ১৫টি বোর্ড তৈরি করেছেন।

  • আমরা ১৫টি উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ গঠন করেছি। পর্যটন বিকাশের জন্য আমরা অনেক পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছি
  • আমরা হিল টপ ট্যুরিজম সার্কিট, মরগ্যান হাউসের উন্নয়ন করেছি।আমরা অনেক কাজ করেছি আর ভবিষ্যতেও করব
  • কালিম্পঙের মানুষকে সব কাজের জন্য দার্জিলিং যেতে হত
  • আমরা আমদের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের জন্য গর্বিত। ওরা আমাদের সম্পদ, ওরাই দেশের ভবিষ্যৎ
  • কালিম্পঙে নতুন জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্প হবে
  • ২২০ কোটি টাকা খরচ করে আমরা কালিম্পং-সিকিম সিল্ক রুটের উন্নয়ন করব
  • যারা পাহাড়ে হিংসা ছড়াচ্ছে, তারা পাহাড়ে শান্তি চায় না
  • আমরা পাহাড়ে কোনরকম অশান্তি চাই না। আমরা বিশ্বাস করি একতাই বল
  • আমাদের সঙ্গে রাজনৈতিক ভাবে লড়াই করতে না পেরে অশান্তি ছড়াচ্ছে। সরকার কোন অশান্তি বরদাস্ত করব না
  • আমরা কালিম্পঙের উন্নতি চাই, মা-বোনেদের সম্মান চাই, যুব সম্পদায়ের জন্য কর্মসংস্থান চাই

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the ‘tiger safari’ at Bengal Safari Park on Sunday. She flagged off this safari during the inaugural ceremony of Uttar Banga Utsab at Kurseong.

The park is the biggest jungle safari in the state and is fast emerging as a major tourist attraction. The park is spread over 297 hectares of natural forest land consisting of sal and other trees. The park will have four large safaris like mixed herbivore safari (91 ha) and tiger safari (20 ha).

The mixed herbivore safari is already doing brisk business while the tiger safari would add to the attraction. Visitors are taken to these safaris in specially designed vehicles.

Lesser cats, fresh water crocodile and gharial and representative birds of North Bengal are displayed in large enclosures in the park here.

বেঙ্গল সাফারি পার্কে চালু হল ‘টাইগার সাফারি’

উত্তরবঙ্গের বেঙ্গল সাফারি পার্কে চালু হল ‘টাইগার সাফারি’। রবিবার উত্তরবঙ্গ উৎসবের মঞ্চ থেকে এই সাফারি উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

এই পার্কটি রাজ্যের সবচেয়ে বড় জঙ্গল সাফারি পার্ক। পর্যটন কেন্দ্র হিসেবেও খ্যাতি অর্জন করেছে এই সাফারি পার্ক। ২৯৭ হেক্টরের এই পার্কটি তৈরী হয়েছে জঙ্গলেই।

টাইগার সাফারি ছাড়াও এই পার্কে থাকছে তৃণভোজী প্রাণীর সাফারি। বিশেষ গাড়ি করে এই সাফারিতে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় পর্যটকদের। বাঘ ছাড়াও এখানে রয়েছে অন্যান্য বেড়াল প্রজাতির পশু, কুমির, ঘড়িয়াল ও নানা প্রজাতির পাখি।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated the sixth edition of Uttar Banga Utsab. The inaugural ceremony was held at Kurseong.

The CM inaugurated the 100-bedded ESI Hospital at Siliguri, HDU at Kurseong sub-divisional hospital, SNCU at Darjeeling hospital, and the newly-renovated blood bank at Siliguri District Hospital. The CM also launched the tiger safari at Bengal Safari Park in north Bengal.

Speaking on the occasion, she said: “We want Hills to prosper. We want peace. Violence will bear no fruit. GTA Board and local municipalities are not run by us or else we could have done much more work for the people.”

She added, “We have already formed 12 development boards in the Hills. Three more (Gurung, Khas and Hill Minority) will be set up. We have allotted Rs 264.78 crore to the various boards for carrying out developmental work. I will come back to the Hills again. I want my brothers and sisters in the Hills to be happy.”

She will also be holding the administrative review meeting for the district on January 24 where she will take a stock of the progress of the development works undertaken by the state government. She will return to Kolkata on January 25.

 

আমি পাহাড়ের উন্নতি চাইঃ কার্শিয়াঙে বললেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

আজ উত্তরবঙ্গে ষষ্ঠতম উত্তরবঙ্গ উৎসবের সূচনা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠান হয় কার্শিয়াঙে।

অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখার সময় মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “আমি পাহাড়ের উন্নতি চাই, পাহাড়ে শান্তি বজায় থাকুক। জিটিএ এবং স্থানীয় পুরসভা আমাদের হাতে থাকলে আমরা মানুষের জন্য আরও কাজ করতে পারতাম”।

তিনি আরও জানান, ইতিমধ্যেই তিনি বিভিন্ন জনজাতির জন্য ১২টি উন্নয়ন বোর্ড গঠন করে দিয়েছেন। আজ আরও ৩টি উন্নয়ন বোর্ডের ঘোষণা করলেন। সেগুলি হল – গুরুং ডেভেলপমেন্ট বোর্ড, খস হিতকারি ফাউণ্ডেশন অ্যান্ড ডেভেলপমেন্ট বোর্ড ও পাহাড়িয়া মাইনরিটি ডেভেলপমেন্ট বোর্ড। তিনি বলেন, আমি আবারও পাহাড়ে আসব। আমি চাই আমার পাহাড়ের ভাই-বোন খুশি থাকুক।

রবিবার সন্ধ্যেবেলায় তিনি দার্জিলিং পৌঁছবেন। প্রতি বছরের মত এবারও ২৩ জানুয়ারি দার্জিলিং ম্যালে নেতাজীর জন্মজয়ন্তী অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণ করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। হাজার হাজার মানুষের জনসমাগম হবে এই অনুষ্ঠানে।

পাহাড়ের জাতীয় এবং রাজ্য সড়ক সংস্কারের জন্য ২২০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দের ঘোষণাও করেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। জঙ্গল মহলের মতোই পুলিশের হিমাল, তরাই ডুয়ার্স স্পোর্টসের বিভিন্ন খেলায় জয়ীদের চাকরি দেওয়ার কথা ঘোষণা করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

আগামী ২৪ জানুয়ারি একটি প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকও করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সেখানে জেলার উন্নয়নমূলক কাজের পর্যালোচনা হবে। আগামী ২৫ জানুয়ারি তিনি কলকাতা ফিরবেন।
