Nadimul Haque asks Supplementary Questions on infrastructure of AIIMS

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that cardiology department, one of the speciality area under
Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), has not been set up at various
AIIMS till now;
(b) whether it is also a fact that emergency services like Blood Banks and post-mortem services are not available at various AIIMS till now;
(c) whether Government has taken any steps to ensure proper implementation of PMSSY; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?
Supplementary Question 1
Sir the infrastructure of AIIMS is stressed. It would not be wrong to say “operation successful, patient died”. Doctors are not available at some places, while equipment are in short supply at other locations. Somewhere blood banks are not there, and somewhere else there is no infrastructure for performing post-mortem.
Patients from Patna AIIMS are referred to other hospitals, Delhi AIIMS is overcrowded. Sir, a doctor has time to check patients, but there are queues running upto 200 people outside his chamber.
So, I want to ask the Minister, he had been busy with elections in the last one month, has he visited any AIIMS hospital for inspection? Has he seen the infrastructure with his own eyes? What steps will the government take to improve the situation?
Supplementary Question 2
Sir, recently a kid was declared dead at Max Hospital, who was found to be alive afterwards. The license of that hospital was cancelled by the Government of Delhi. I want to ask the Minister, if his department is considering similar action against AIIMS or any government hospital for cases of medical negligence.
