‘Samabayika’ to introduce home delivery service

‘Samabayika’ to introduce home delivery service

State-owned retail chain ‘Samabayika’ is all set to introduce home delivery services for its customers. The move comes at a time when private retail chains in the city have been providing such a service to customers. However, Samabayika will not be charging customers for the home delivery service.

The State-owned retail chain will follow the model of the private chains. Debit and credit cards will be accepted as modes of payment, along with cash.

The State Cooperative Minister said that the delivery service will be beneficial for customers, specially senior citizens. It will help customers save a lot of time.

The ‘Samabayika’ chain of stores is controlled by the Calcutta Consumers’ Cooperative Society, under the aegis of the State Cooperation Department. It has 45 outlets in the city. Since 2011, the State Government has taken steps to revamp these outlets.
