Progress made by School Education Dept. in special plan under Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) in Jangalmahal
One of the biggest success stories of the Maa, Mati, Manush Government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is the development of the Jangalmahal area. Consisting of the districts of Purulia, Bankura and Paschim Medinipur, the development in this area was at a standstill two years back, due to Left Wing Extremists. While on one hand, the Government successfully dealt with the Extremists by providing special packages to those who surrendered, side by side, it started a flood of developmental works for the locals.
Let us take a bird’s eye view of what the Government did in the school education sector to bring a turnaround.
Purulia :
Construction of 15 Girls Hostel (50 seated) for Secondary/H.S. Schools – Expected date of completion: 31-12-2013.
Construction of 8 new School Building & Hostel for LWE affected area.
Paschim Medinipur :
Construction of 17 Girls’ Hostels – Completed – 4 nos., Expected date of completion for others 31.3.13
Construction of 50 Girls’ Hostels (50 seated) for Secondary/H.S. Schools – For 13 hostels work is in progress.
Construction of 11 new School Building & Hostel for LWE affected area – Work has started to build 11 School buildings and hostels.
Construction of 1 PTTI as per NCTE Norms – Procedures have started for the construction of PTTI at Ramgarh.
Bankura :
Construction of 15 Girls Hostel (50 seated) for Secondary/H.S. Schools –5 Girls hostels already completed. For the other 10 Girls hostels, date of completion is Sept. 2013.
Construction of 6 new School Building & Hostel for LWE affected area – Procedures have started for construction.
