Pran Group decides on big-ticket investment in Bangla
Another big investment is coming the State’s way. Multi-sector major Pran Group of Bangladesh has decided to invest about Rs 100 crore, and that too at the first stage, in a food manufacturing set-up on the outskirts of Kolkata. It would result in the employment of 1,000 people.
The plants would manufacture a wide range of food products like snacks items, bottles water, jams and jellies, pickles, fruit juice, spices, edible oil, etc.
Not just that, another factory exclusively for snacks items is being built in Kalyani. Thus the behemoth is going in for a big presence in Bangla, which is a result of the pro-industry approach of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress Government.
Pran is already an established brand in Bangla, and is known for its products of excellent quality at very affordable prices. Now the products would be available more widely. In fact, the group is aiming for a big presence in the entire eastern region, according to a senior official of the company.
