1300 new posts being created for Kolkata Police

The West Bengal State Cabinet has sanctioned 1381 new posts for the Kolkata Police Force. The city police currently has about 27000 personnel in its force. With this new strength the Kolkata Police will be meet its requirement in the newly added areas with renewed vigour.
The State has also approved creation of 3266 in West Bengal Police for new recruitment.
After four new police stations were created in February 2014, Kolkata now has around 69 police stations. The State Home Department is planning to set up another five “women-only” police stations in Kolkata by May. The State Government, which has already set up 15 such police stations, plans to introduce 65 more such facilities all over Bengal by the end of this year.
